A nice view from the balcony.
Joe needed to remind himself to thank Brad for getting him this apartment in San Diego. He felt it was a big favor to him after Freya took full custody of the kids. And without being able to pay for it himself, Joe really felt he owed Brad his life for that.
He took a look at the money he had in his pocket. He nearly forgot he still had the money left over from his fine after Fox paid it off for him instead. Taking a look up at the moon in the sky as it's light reflects off the beach's ocean, he sighs, realizing that he was thankful he still had this money. It needed to go to his kids for the future, so having it was fortunate.
But then he thought about something. Was this really what they were trying to do? Was JFK getting Fox to do this so Joe could realize the benefits of the Front Office? Was this just a plus to selling his soul to the devil?
Joe shook his head to get that thought out of his mind. It was crazy talk. He knew damn well no matter what he wasn't joining anyone. He was his own man. He was nobody's little bitch, and nobody was going to take control over him no matter the costs. The Front Office could lend a hand in helping Joe win this match, but it would still mean nothing to him. Joe wouldn't really have won the X Championship, and he wouldn't feel like a real champion were that the case.
But it was getting late. Sort of. Joe hadn't gotten used to the time zone shift from the east coast to the west, and was feeling tired at 9 PM. He went inside to at least check on the boys before he went to bed himself. they were sleeping, at peace. He smiled as he looked over them, reminding himself of the days he and Freya were still a couple. But of course, those days were gone.
He looked around the apartment, still sorting everything out and where he wanted to put everything. His TV was all hooked up, all his game systems- NES, N64, Genesis, PS2, Atari 5200, Wii, 360- were set up next to it (Although the Atari had to hook up to a non-HD TV set), and he had a box of his old toys for Jayden and Brandon to play with when they came over.
Okay, so they were just for him to display on his shelves considering they weren't even a year old yet. This is Joe Ragnal we're talking about here. Mature heart, immature mind.
All that he needed now was some new furniture, a few appliances to get a good breakfast running, and he was set. But that would have to wait until after Battle Grounds. Speaking of, he went to his own room in the apartment, sat down on the bed, flicked the camera on, white-balanced, pressed record, and spun the camera around to focus on him.
"So much happens in the past few months, it gets harder and harder to adjust to the changes. Wife divorces me, gets custody of the kids, I fall in love, end up leaving her when the kids have to move so I can at least take care of them...but that's life. It's just the speed that these changes occur that bugs me.
But that's a good representation of what the wrestling world is all about. Change. You might not realize it, you might not recognize when it happens, but it ends up changing a lot.
Sometimes a new guy comes around and might be promoted as the next guy to push wrestling to the forefront of pop culture. Sometimes that guy might end up failing and never getting the recognition he deserves. Either way, that wrestler can stay around for a long time or a short time. It's his or the office's decision. But that wrestler could make such an impact in the time he's there, when he's gone, something feels empty in the minds of the fans or the other boys in the back. And then some people try to recapture that magic the fans fell for, only to fail. And it takes forever for wrestling to catch back on with the mainstream audiences, and once things change for the worse, they'll be gone.
A slow change has happened in nCw. Both the X-Division and X-Treme titles have been phasing out slowly over the last month. This isn't a bad thing, though; slowly in the minds of fans and the front Office, the belts have been lowered in their matters of importance, and will by Sunday be replaced by the X Championship. We've got three other men that will be climbing that ladder, but so far all I've seen is one person actually gather the gusto to talk back to me about everything.
And that's a shame, isn't it? Only one person has taken the time out of their schedule, be it for training for the match, learning to fall off a 20 foot ladder, or just being lazy. One of those guys has been chasing Tempestad and doesn't even try to defend himself, and the other is JFK. The guy doesn't seem to really care a lot for his match, does he?
I have to agree with Tempest, JFK. Of the four men in this match, of the three that are my opponents, you're the least of my worries. I've beaten you before. I won a nontitle match against you on television. Yet I never got a shot at your belt, and now I see why that is. I don't know whether you're a coward who hides behind the title and the Front Office or if you're some magnificent bastard. I haven't found a book of your's to read, so it can't be the latter.
Although this brings up something else that ol' Tempo said; that if I want a title shot, I need to earn it. Well, despite having a loss against you, Temp, I still had that win on JFK, like I said a minute ago. I'd say that's a shot well-earned, but again, look at the competition. It's a really sad sign that that's the last man to ever hold the X-Division title, a belt that represented No Limits. But I assure you, the first man to hold that X Championship is either you or me, Tempestad, and we can both do a much better job as champion than JFK.
And I do have something to prove in this match. I have to prove that despite the downfall in my personal life, I can still rise to the top of the ladder, that I can win this metaphor on Darwin's Law. I have to prove that despite being out of action for two years, I can still give the crowd a match to awe over and talk about the next day, at the office or on the internet. I have a lot to prove, but doesn't everyone else?
This match changes a lot in nCw. It sets a new status quo, it changes the environment of two divisions, it places new top dogs in new situations and new match possibilities...and hopefully, most importantly...it teaches nCw to have a little FUN.
And Temp, since you were nice enough, best of luck to you too. Peace out, world."
