OPENING
It’s a special Knitelife this week fans as I’m sitting at my Vegas hotel, beside the pool, typing this up for your reading pleasure. It’s finally here.. NCW’s fourth... that’s right... FOURTH Road to the Gold pay per view. I’m so excited for it right now, I can barely wait. We’re going to have an amazing show and I want to make sure you all tune in for the action, it will be can’t miss. I promise you that. Anyway, before my drink gets warm I guess I better get to work on this column, I hope you have a great read this week.
Anyway, the poll last week was about what NCW star you thougth was going to be the next breakout wrestler and be the first of the newcomers to win a title, and of course Ander Carvetti narrows out Trish Newborn for the winner of this poll and I think you all made a great choice, no matter who would of come out the winner in the end. Even though Newborn would of had a much tougher task (assuming Zelda remains the champion). Anyway, Ander is a great wrestler. I’ve known him for a long time it seems and he’s got all the talent in the world, he’ll go far in this company I think, and so do you apparently.
This week’s poll we’re going to do something a little different, as you can see there is only one title on the line at the pay per view, and that’s because Joe Ragnal has some family issues to take care of this week and unfortunately had to take some time off. He’ll be back next week on Collision to defend his title, and the question here is which one of the four men in the #1 contendership match do you think is going to prevail and get that shot at Ragnal? It’s going to see which one of these men step out, especially with the surprising new guy Hugo Conway in there as the wild card. It’s going to be very interesting if you ask me, which you have no choice in, you have to ask me.
WEEK IN REVIEW
Before we can get into the awesomeness of the pay per view, we have to get into what happened this past week in NCW and I’ve got to say we had some amazing action, we really did. You could feel the tension from the tournament all night on Collision, youd could split that crowd in half between people who thought Charlie was going to win and people who thought Dave was going to do so. It was a sight to see so many people taking a side and rooting for a wrestler of their choosing. In the end we all got to see Dave Holland win another shot at the world title and did so in a match that very well could of went either way.
Collision was just one of those shows where there seemed to be so much going on it was almost hard to keep up with but in the end felt everything came together nicely. I know in the weeks leading up to Road to the Gold every year it seems we lose track of things with the tournament and some people start feeling lost in the shuffle. Yet with Collision I really think a lot of stories and feelings came together then.
I think the biggest news from the show was of course Charlie Velez attacking Davey Ortega after the tournament finals match. It was a stunning turn of events with Ortega there only to cheer on his friend Dave Holland and then offer a congratulatory handshake. It was shocking, I honestly expected more from Velez, but I guess I can see how losing after trying so hard, and after easily having the hardest tournament path will do that to a guy.
In a close second, the whole ordeal between Zelda, Jacobsen, and Falcon is right up there in shockers. Nobody really knows what is going on, but you could see the dagger in Falcon’s heart when Zelda kissed Andrew in an attempt to get him to call of his match challenge. I couldn’t believe my eyes and I honestly have no idea where this is going to go, but it’s going to be interesting to see how these two men handle this stuation. My bet is that they just tear into each other, a lot of pent up aggressions are going to flow.
Those two events coupled with the official return of Jack Manson announce, with Mike Machado earning the ire of Homeles Harold and Angel finally putting Doc after their month long feud made things amazingly interesting and I have to give this show an surprising A. I really thought we were going to have a tough time making some pay per view matches other than a couple and the main event, but this show really sealed some things and made it very interesting.
THE FAB FIVE
5:: Angel :: He did a great job of finally ending this rivalry between his self and Doc. Those two were really at each other’s throats and you could feel the animosity, you could sense the hatred, it was brutal and it seems to be over.
4:: Andrew Jacobsen :: He would be higher up on this list with an upset victory like that, but the way the match ended with Zelda throwing in the towel for Falcon really puts a hit to this. Andrew has the talent to take the next step in this company and really showed just how good he was in that match no matter what happened at the end.
3:: Evan Andrews :: The man I picked to win the Road to the Gold tournament from the beginning really showed why I did so. He took on the World champion in a first blood match and won. Very impressive feat and showed just why I had so much confidence in him.
2:: Charlie Velez :: I want to keep him off her for his attack on Ortega, but I simply cannot overlook how much effort he put into this tournament. Nobody can say he didn’t have the hardest draw of every person in the tournament and he was a hair away from walking away with the tournament win.
1:: Dave Holland :: Well i think it’s obvious why I picked him here, and I think it’s obvious that I was going to do so. So really it’s a shame on you if you thought anybody else was going to be here.
PREVIEW OF THIS WEEK
Well... it’s ROAD TO THE GOLD IV people! Can you believe it? It’s going to be an amazing show and I know I don’t have to tell you that, you can just look at that fantastic card and see that for yourselves. We have phenomenal matches across the board. I’m very interested in seeing matches like Machado taking on Homeless Harold which should be very interesting, then of course the match between former Road to the Gold runner ups with Davey Ortega returning to NCW to take on Charlie Velez. Obviously also the four man match for that XChampionship number one contendership... and people these are only the first thee matches planned for the show! Just think of what else we have in store for you.
There is Jason Blair finally getting his chance to win the National title from Freakke after a month full of mind games from the clown boy, run ins, and altercations. That match is going to be very interesting, but maybe not as interesting as the father versus son match when Mike Honcho defends his Honor championship against his father Maniac Chris Diamond. That match is clearly the favorite in the “most interesting match” category without even too close of a runner up.
Overall I’ll just say... wow, this is going to be one of those shows you’ll never forget.
WHAT TO KEEP AN EYE ON
Before I begin, i’m just going to say, I’m not going to mention Dave Holland or the Main Event in this segment this week. Why? Because it literally goes without saying.
:: Falcon vs. Andrew Jacobsen :: I know I said this last week, I know it. If it upsets you, then I’m truly sorry but it has to be mentioned again with this last man standing rule applied to the match, it just got like three times as interesting as before. The tension between them over Zelda has just hit critical mass... I’ve seen what a person can do when another guy kisses his girl, and this doesn’t look like it’s going to end well at all.
:: The Rat Pack :: Why? Because they are undefeated and Ander recently just won a Knitelife poll over the next big NCW star. These two have been on a roll since joining NCW and get their shot at the tag team titles this week, however it’s a big time case of getting thrown to the wolves because Angel and AJ, they make a dangerous team.
:: Maniac :: The guy is completely nuts right now, I love Chris but he’s lost it and he’s facing his own son, if that isn’t enough to get you to watch this match i don’t know what is. How about this then if you’re demanding more reasons, the match is also for the Honor championship, when Chris sees a chance for gold.... watch out, he’s like a train on the tracks.
:: Jason Blair vs. Freakke :: Blair won wrestler of the month during the weeks before Battle Grounds because of the amazing roll he was on, winning every match and the number one contendership to the National title. Ever since then Freakke has been playing total mind gams on his upcoming challenger and things are really picking up between these two, don’t be surprised if this is one of the better matches.
:: Steve Awesome vs. Xavier Cross :: Must I explain why this is going to be so awesome, no pun intended? Steve has been almost a recluse since Cross foiled his attempts at cheating away a victory in that Iron Man Match, Cross.. that man who was supposed to be Steve’s best friend. That’s a lot of tension between two men people.
PREDICTIONS
LAST WEEK’S RECORD:: 8-4 :: Oh wow, when I was tallying up my scores I noticed I was at 3-4 and I was getting a bit worried but I really pulled out a decent week there towards the end.
OVERALL RECORD:: 234-137 :: Do you see that? Come on baby, I’m only 3 away from being up 100 in the right column, lets do this!
Singles Match
Homeless Harold vs Mike Machado
:: I’ve gotta throw my backing behind who is inside that Homeless Harold, because even daring to use that name after Gib must mean they have some kid of awesomness.
First RttG Runner Up vs. 4th RttG Runner Up
Davey Ortega vs. Charlie Velez
:: I’m totally rooting for Ortega here in this match, but I just don’t see how he can be in ring shape after being gone so long. Velez is coming off a majorly disappointing loss, he can’t lose this match.
#1 Contender for the X Championship
Four Corners Match
Xavier Williams vs. Ricky Johnson vs. Venom vs Hugo Conway
:: I asked in the poll, you fans are going to decide on this one.
LOCK OF THE WEEK
Sin and Penance Match
Gabriel Karras vs. Joe Everyman
:: That’s right, you can do a double take, because I just put Joe Everyman as a Lock of the week. Why? Because he’s fighting for a wife, he better not lose this match, that’s all i can say.
nCw Honor Championship
Mike Honcho* vs. Maniac
:: Father beats son... wow.. that didn’t come out right. Father will win against son, there we go.. that’s better.
Last Man Standing
Falcon vs. Andrew Jacobsen
:: I’m going to have to side with Jacobsen again... he’s got so much to prove especially after Zelda threw in the towel and helped him win last time.
nCw National Championship
Freakke* vs. Jason Blair
:: I think we have a new national champion. You’ve had a great reign Freakke my man but I think Blair takes the gold.
nCw World Women's Championship
Zelda Knite vs. Emma Danielson
:: I can never vote against my sis and live with myself for it.
nCw World Tag Team Titles
Blood Ties* vs. The Rat Pack (Holliday and Carvetti)
:: Going to be so close, but I’m going to throw my pick behind Blood Ties. Ander and Holliday are a great team and have been for a long time but I think Blood Ties keeps it together for another victory.
Steel Cage Match
Steve Awesome vs. Xavier Cross
:: I have to go with Steve here... I can just see all the hurt in his face. He has to win this match for himself, he has to beat Cross for what X did.
nCw World Championship
DDK* vs. Dave Holland
:: Dave Holland.. He’s come too far to lose now.
THE KNITELINE
Dear Kelly,
You are right, I guess I helped you one up me just by writing in, I guess I helped you out smart me by outsmarting myself. But alas, that is not why I write you today. I write you today because I feel misunderstood and I feel that you are the only one who understands me. You see, I was recently under fire by a man named Alex Jones over some comments I made about him on my Television show called the 'Gun Show.' I believe you've heard of it. Well, during the show I made some things up in an attempt at comedy and Mr. Jones took them to heart and began bad mouthing me on national television. He seemed to take it personally like I just kicked his dog or stole candy from his child or something. Seeing as you've been in a similar situation how do you handle the criticism of people like this? I eagerly await your response.
Truly Yours,
Venom
:: Just don't let them get to you V. Just remember that it's your show, you're the one in charge of it and the viewers are tuning in because they either want to hear what you say because they value your opinion or because they hate it, and either way... you're getting people to tune in.
John Layton; Houston, Texas
Hey Kelly! Love your show, but DDK's variety hour was amazing! How do you plan to top that? Perhaps some musical numbers? In sexy showgirl clothes? Just a thought. Get Zelda to sing with you, and wear even less! You're ratings would go through the roof!
:: Why would I try to tramp myself up to get more people to view a column? It's not like they can see what I'm wearing when I type this out and post it. Hell right now I'm in a bikini in front of a pool. Will that bring readers in? I don't see how.
Alice Herz, Ravenwood, PA
OK, I'm new to wrestling and all that but when I was watching last week I saw my 'Uncle'(the clown) push his own team mate. Is he always that stupid or am I missing something?
:: Short Answer... Yes... Dude is nuts.
Keybo; nCw HQ, Texas..
Yea, you seem to have a line with Venom, would you mind telling him that he's not getting my set? I don't care how much he begs, how many letters he sends.. that's my set.. and nobody is taking it from me. By the way, Knitelife > The Gun show...
:: Thanks Keybo I value your opinions and I'll try and protect your old set for you, also... Knitelife > Whatever your show was called. Sorry, just saying you know.
Brent Sampson
Uhhh....not Hawaii....
"Yeah....with all these shows going on and what not....I was kinda sort of thinkin I'd bring my show back. "I wanna talk to Sampson". See what happens when good old Brenty gets in the mix again. Scared the pulse right out of him.....ha ha that was a good one....
*dial tone*
:: THE PULSE! That's what it was called! Thanks for the help Brent, always a pleasure.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
:: I swear I totally understand what Zelda is going through, and she claims her and Andrew are just friends, so I think people need to back off with the “slut” comments with her, she’s just young and confused.
:: Yes me and Ortega used to be close.... I was the first ever member of his “Empire” and yes he was once about to propose to me, but that has nothing to do with why I think what Charlie did was uncalled for.
:: Speaking of Charlie... man I feel bad for that guy. He tried so hard and he worked himself to the bone... and even had easily the hardest draw in getting to the finals, he overcame everything and just fell a hair short.
:: This could be one of the best main events ever, like DDK brought up on the show, these two are halves of the two biggest tag teams in NCW history and now they will go at it for the singles gold... THE singles gold. Amazing really.
:: I still wish I had a match.
:: The Road tot he Gold card is so awesome Knitington will be on the Wired Web Show... talk about a stacked card to bump off the hottest tag team in NCW right now.
Well fans, that’s all I have for this week, please join me next week when we go over what happened at Road to the Gold. Until next time...
