We all make choices, but in the end our choices make us.
Genetics, our inherited traits, or genes, what makes us... us. It’s a science of what makes us different, of what turns one person into a beautiful beloved princess, and what turns another person into a big smelly ogre, and a waste of space. We can’t change who we are, we can’t change our defining traits, all we can effect is our little choices in life, how we choose to live and effect others. Where as I have come to accept who I am, who my family is and what brought me and here, others have tried to reinvent themselves, tried to become something they aren’t. Unlike a certain big drunken jerk with an adam’s apple who tried to become more like me after she tucked her tail and ran away, I won’t try to run away from my past, I’ve embraced it. I’m the spunky little geek girl who defies all the odds and overcomes all hardships, I’m Adam Knite’s sister, I’m Gib’s daughter, I’m everything you want to be... but can’t. I have everything you want, you are nothing in comparison, because I come from a better line, I’ve never spent a day laying in a gutter with an empty beer bottle in my hand, I’ve never been to rehab, I’ve never dreamed of being anybody else, and most importantly when things got tough, I never ran away. My genes wouldn’t let me fall that far.
[Inside the large Vegas hotel room, Zelda Knite sits on the edge of her bed. She’s rented the villa with Adam and Kelly who came straight into Vegas after the shows in Reno. Zelda stares at the television screen, not really watching the images that fly by, but off in our own little world. When the door to the room opens and Kelly walks in, Zelda finally reacts, turning to see her sister-in-law smiling at her. Kelly sits on the edge of the bed, right next to her.]
Kelly: You ok there sis?
Zelda: Yeah, just thinking.
Kelly: Has he returned your calls yet?
Zelda: Yeah... he went back to Boston for a few days, probably to politely have all my stuff neatly shipped back to Dallas.... I feel like such an idiot.
Kelly: Meh, you were only doing what you though was right, and hell, we both know he would of sooner had serious damage done than to tap out.
[Zelda lets out a small quick giggle and Kelly seems a bit surprised by it. Zelda turns and gives a small little smile before turning back and then looking at the floor.]
Zelda: I’m not talking about that. I’m mean for kissing Drewpy right in front of his face. I didn’t mean to, he wasn’t supposed to be standing right there, but he’s so sneaky and quiet.
Kelly: Why did you kiss him then?
Zelda: I wanted to. I wanted to show him that I cared and he didn’t have to go through this big match, and “Last Man Standing” talk. I don’t want to see them fight, I dont’ want to see them hurt each other, and that’s the main reason I threw in that towel for Kyle. So i kiss him, to try and convince him not to do this, yet I just made things worse, as always.
[Zelda closes her eyes tight as she tries to fight back all the emotions running through her head right now. She wraps her arms around her abdomen and bends forward, looking as if she’s trying to comfort herself right now. Kelly gets an idea and pats Zelda on the back and stands up, forcing Zelda to set up straight the whole way as well.]
Kelly: Hey, why don’t we go hang out by the pool? I finally got rid of all that baby fat, and I want to show off my new bikini, you know... get a few people to turn their heads maybe. We can relax in the sun, lord knows you could use some, but no bringing your DS with you!
Zelda: I don’t have a bikini.
Kelly: You can borrow one of mine... look Z, it’s Vegas... VEGAS! Forget about the guys for a little while and chill, have fun... do whatever you want.
Zelda: -sigh- Alright... Booberella.
Kelly: Except that... don’t.. under any circumstances... call me that out there.
[Zelda starts giggling as Kelly throws that almost serious face on that always cracks her up, because she can obviously tell Kelly is goofing around. Zelda nods her head and stands up before too long, agreeing to go out and have some fun. Kelly leads her to her room to get something picked out for the pool.]
Two people... so different, two people who couldn’t be further apart in their personalities, life styles, and personal hygiene, two people who have been described as polar opposites, and yet... here we are again. It’s not like we haven’t been here before, we’ve gone through this game several times already. We were in the first ever Women’s division match, you were the first match I had after winning the tournament and we’ve done this solo number a few months ago. Now here we go, another time, you get one more shot at my women’s title. You’ve been given chance after chance and have proven again and again that you just aren’t anywhere in my league, you’re just not even close to me. This isn’t opinion, this isn’t a theory, it’s indesputable fact, every single time you’ve tried to go against me, you tried to prove that you’d finally made the next step, I’ve chopped your butt down. Have I ever cheated against you? Have I ever done anything dishonest? You cannot honestly claim I’ve had any advantage inside that ring, we’ve just went toe to toe several times, and I have several times just been the better wrestler that night. Why is that? Because I am better, I’ve got wrestling in my blood, I was trained by an NCW Hall of Famer, I’m the daughter of a soon to be NCW Hall of Famer. Brother/Sister, Father/Daughter world champion pairs, Everything about me is just so much better than you. I tried harder than you to succeed, I work harder than you to get where I am at, and I dont’ throw out excuses when I didn’t succeed my expectations. Lets just be brutally honest here Emma, I’ve been better than you for a long time, I’m sorry that hurts and I’m sorry you’ll never match up to me, I really am but lets face the facts.... I was born that way.
[Relaxing in a chair, wearing a cute little bikini and big ass sunglasses is Kelly by the pool, sipping on her drink with the little umbrella thrown into it. A couple guys walk by and do some double takes, and Kelly enjoys every second of it. A shadow is suddenly falling over her as a figure stands by her chair. Kelly lifts the sunglasses and looks up to see a shirtless Andrew Jacobsen at her side.]
Andrew: Hey Kelly.
Kelly: Andrew? In town already?
Andrew: I have nowhere else to be.
Kelly: Zelda should be down in a minute or so, she’s acting shy for some reason.
[Jacobsen looks a bit surprised by that, enough so that Kelly raises an eyebrow confused over his reaction.]
Andrew: Zelda is here? I thought she was going back to Boston?
Kelly: No... she said she wanted to come with us Sunday night... wait, so you had no idea she was here?
Andrew: I told her I was coming straight to Vegas Sunday after she told me she was heading back to Boston for a few days. Do you think she.... nevermind.
Kelly: Stayed because of you? Maybe. She is feeling really bad about what she did to Kyle though, so it may just be that, giving him some space for a bit.
Andrew: Yeah... you’re right... that makes more sense.
[Jacobsen suddenly stops talking and his eyes go wide as he stares at a figure walking through the doors. Zelda slowly walks towards him wearing a light green bikini with a wrap tried around her waist and hanging down her right leg. Her long raven hair is pulled back at the sides to form a low ponytail amidst the rest of her hair that hangs down. Andrew’s jaw drops and his eyes are wide when Zelda notices him, she blushes and smiles, as she tries not to stare herself. Zelda stands on the other side of Kelly, biting her bottom lip and still red in the face.]
Kelly: Why are you acting embarrassed for?
Zelda: shut up.... I feel stupid in this.
Kelly: Hush Z, you look great. Isn’t that right Andrew?
[Kelly sits up and nudges him with her elbow.]
Andrew: Ye...yeah.
Kelly: -laughs- Welllllllll.... I guess I’ve got a column to write, I’ll leave you two alone.
Zelda: Kel...
[It’s too late as Kelly grabs her drink, smiles at the too and walks away laughing to herself. Zelda lets out a deep sigh as she just stands there awkwardly.]
Zelda: Andrew I’m sorry, I didn’t...
Andrew: It’s fine Z. Like I said, I’ll just prove I can beat him this week.
Zelda: Do I really look ok?
Andrew: You look amazing.... but I can see your ribs, you should really eat a burger or something.
[Zelda pretends to be angry at the comment as she scrunches up her face, glaring at him. She reaches back and punches him in the upper arm before giggling. Zelda sits in one chair and Andrew takes the chair next to her.]
Andrew: So... pretty far from Boston.
Zelda: Do you want me to leave?
Andrew: Of course not.
[Zelda turns and looks at her friend before sticking her tongue out at him.]
Zelda: Then just enjoy it.
Maybe it was destiny or fate that would have us keep coming back, that would have our paths keep crossing, I don’t know honestly. What I do know is that I’m sick of seeing your ugly face, I’m sick of hearing you tell me how nerdy I am, and how tough you are. I’m sick of you telling me I’m spoiled, of you using my catchphrases turned against me... I’m tired of it all with you Emma. That’s why after this, you will never get another shot at my women’s title, for as long as I hold this belt, you’ll never even have a chance to hold it in your hands. When you took the belt from me, that’s the closest you’ll ever get to having it actually be yours. It’s the closest you’ll ever come to realizing your dream of being Zelda Knite. I’m done with you, I’ve nothing left to prove against you, I haven’t beaten you once, nor twice, I’ve beaten you ever time. It’s not a rivalry, it’s nothing, it’s a one sided butt kicking that people refuse to just let end.
[Zelda and Andrew come slowly walking into the hotel’s doors from the pool area. Jacobse has a warm towel thrown over Zelda who shivers a bit. Jacobsen laughs at her some more before shaking his head.]
Andrew: 70 degrees is too cold for you?
Zelda: Yes.. look at what Kelly dressed me in!
Andrew: Ha... you know if you weren’t so....
Zelda: I swear to God Drewpy, if you make another comment about me needing to eat a biscuit or chocolate or something.... I’m going to force choke you.
Andrew: -laughs harder-
[Zelda begins laughing with him as the two stand there waiting for the elevator.... Suddenly Zelda throws her arms around him in a big hug and holds him tight to her body. He throws his arms around her as well and returns the hug. They pull away and Zelda bites her lip as she turns away. Nothing needs to be said between the two, they both understand that hug was a big “thank you”]
Andrew: So Zelda.. can I ask you something?
Zelda: Of course.
Andrew: Did you come to Vegas because you didn’t want to see Falcon or... well... you know...
Zelda:.... I... I don’t know. A little of both? I don’t... I really don’t want to talk about it, if that’s ok?
Andrew: I understand... hey... when you get dressed, you wanna get something to eat?
Zelda: -giggles- Of course, maybe then you’ll quit making fun of me!
[They both laugh again, and Zelda throws her arms around Jacobsen one more time, this time however she doesn’t let go as they stand there waiing. When the elevator arrives, they walk in together, Zelda not letting her grip go.]
So what do you say? How about for the first time in your miserable life of collecting tolls under a bridge you decide to do the right thing? When this match is over... your pursuit of my title will be done, deal? If you’re really the changed person you claim to be, if you’re really so much better now, then put it all on the line, put everything you want out on the table. Will you step up and take my challenge, or will you scream and throw a little hissy fit telling me how much of a brat I am? What are your genes telling you to do? Are you going to run and hide again, or are you finally going to try and change your code and be more like Zelda? So what’s your choice? Are you going to keep up this masquerade, every single time you lose to me and just keep trying until you can hopefully get lucky one time and win, or will you stand up and put all your eggs into one final basket, put it all on the line for this title, like I have. Don’t listen to the people around you.. telling you there’s always tomorrow, or that you can live to fight another day... stand up and say this is it. Make the choice...
Would you kindly...
Bring this to an end?
Would you kindly...
Accept that I’m better than you?
Would you kindly...
Go away... before I have to break you again.
Would you kindly...
Stop fooling yourself....
