Chris: “….Xavier its your future. You can keep beating yourself up, getting yourself wrapped in this stupid drama. OR. You can take this. You’re a great actor, you’re a familiar face. The camera loves you man. Take this job. Please. Maybe one day you’ll end up getting seriously hurt.”
The scene opens to Xavier Cross, and his cousin, as well as legal representative, Christopher sitting down at a fancy table. A few papers are spread out across the table as Xavier sits back, his eyes looking past his cousin, and to the wall. Lost in his thoughts. Trying to wrap his mind around the idea of Steve and Natalie, what lengths Steve is going to get under his skin.
For what?
What was this all for…
Xavier Cross: “Put it on hold….let me get through this Sunday. Let me put Steve Awesome in his place…”
Cross stands up, rolling his sleeves up. The camera cuts away.
“I’ll keep staggering around. My eyes are everywhere. Watching the Road to the Gold championship finale, seeing Holland come out on top to face, DDK. But now, I find myself leading up to the main event. In a steel cage. I find myself somewhere I shouldn’t be. On the main card. I find myself blowing every opportunity given to me, poor showings left and right. No more.
Steve Awesome. Compared me to the Ace, and Trent Helms last week. I may not be at the top of my game, I may not be in the right mindset, but if I’m going to let Steve get under my skin, I’ll let it all rage. Clearer heads prevail? I’ll crack his skull open.
He’ll bleed
I’ll bleed
The world around us will melt into nothingness.
The cage will finally settle the matters between us.
If Steve beats me. He’s won. Everything I’ve fought for will come to nothingness. Interfering to help Adam beat Steve, and win Kelly back. Coming out to help the Revolution Team, when Steve was going to put himself into the match. They didn’t need my help, but I put my neck out to help people. I’ve put it on myself when no one asked for my help, to eliminate this cancer known as Steve Awesome.
Eliminate is a strong word. So is hate. But this Steve Awesome this arrogant pompous man, is not my friend. He’s not the same guy who had my back. Maybe he sees me in grouping with those losers, with people who sharply fell from the progress they made. I refuse to be one of them. I’ve recognized I won’t be able to do this forever.
As much as I would love to.
Call me a sell out Steve, but when the dust settles, you can call me the…
Victor.
I’m going to beat you Steve. I have to. I sacrificed our friendship to stop you from destroying another man’s family. Someone you once called a friend. Deflate your head a little bit, and I won’t have to drag you through this hell. I’ll break your ego if I got to, but one thing is for sure. Natalie will see that you’re only using her to get to me. Guess what Steve it worked. I’m not going to let you manipulate people, use them for your games. I’ll break your body if I have to. Natalie is a good kid, with a bright future.
You’re the last thing she needs.”
Cross sits down, the room expands to show a basement. Leaning down, he lifts his signature bat from just outside of the cameral angle.
“My lack of caring. My lack of even wanting. This place doesn’t feel as warm as it used to. It just doesn’t feel right. But come Sunday night, I’ll walk down the ring for what may be the last time in my life. I’ll hear the fans explode cheering my name, running your’s through the dirt. Despite every time I’ve screwed them over, for lack of effort or becoming the world’s biggest douche. Those fans stuck with me through and through. You’ll come to realize my efforts to stop you from destroying your soul.
You may not see it now.
You may not see it in the next few years.
But one day, you’ll reflect….whether its on your death bed, and realize why I did what I did. Why I helped Adam beat you. Why I made sure Front Office was put down like a sick dog. Everything I did. It had a logical reason behind it. I made my choices, I sold my soul to Leonard Fox for another crack at Charlie Velez. A month later, I saw myself in the same ranks as Velez? I was supposed to be his ally?
Idiot.
There was the biggest mistake Leonard made. This is what turned me into seeing where this Revolution was stirring. I wasn’t going to be a corporate dog for long. So I waited. The more I felt being pushed away from you Steve. I found myself hanging out with Kelly. I saw how sad she was. I saw the fear in her eyes. Her confidence may have been in Adam. But….the what if was still heavy.
You think I would ever let someone experience the pain of losing their wife. Their child? You think after all I’ve been through I’d let you do that to another man. A man I respect. I man I had been forced to attack the last month.
But to blame that on you. That would be weakness. I made my decisions. I walked out there and beat those men. I jumped them. Now you find yourself, not being able to go anywhere without having to watch your back. I’m already in your head Steve.
These internet fans. They want me to become Savior Cross. But the fact is, I don’t know how much more I can compete. I don’t know if I have the dedication or the fuel left in the tank to give these people something worth their while. What they want to see.
I’ll throw myself off the cage, through whatever I have to. I’ll break myself in order to break you. If I have to be carried off, I’ll make sure you have to take a stretcher. Tonight our score will be settled. This grudge, this hatred….the friendship will finally come to a close. Locked in, surrounded by steel. Our fire will explode in one grand finale.
With what may be my final match Steve. I couldn’t imagine it against anyone but you….Or maybe you’ll be the flint that will jumpstart my inferno….”
The camera fades to Xavier taking a practice swing with his bat.

Gym
2:01 a.m. Sunday morning
Xavier is shown, the lights dimmed in the gym. A heavy bag standing in front of him. Leaning forward, beads of sweat rolling down his worn, older looking face. His forehead presses against the bag, his hands, tapped up wrap around the bag hugging it. The camera picks up his lips moving, as though whispering something to the bag.
He blinks, a image of his kids flash across the camera screen.
Stepping back Xavier takes a huge swing at the bag, rocking it to the right. The bag swings back and he catches it with a huge forearm smash.
He takes a deep breath through his nose.
A picture of Natalie flashes across the screen.
Sending a straight kick to the bag he quick charges forward with a shoulder grabbing the bag.
He staggers back, looking sore. Obviously exhausted from the day’s worth of training. He eyes the bag, as steps forward sending a huge right straight into the bag.
A picture of the Steve Awesome appears on the screen.
Cross falls over, clutching his arm. He shows an obvious amount of pain rolling around holding his arm.
Now a short montage, the Knite family, to the revolution lead by William Washington to DDK holding the world championship. Then it goes black…the sound of his breath, spaced apart. His hand presses against the mat, his bones crack a bit. Xavier groans.
The scene blinks in and out, going black to visual with a heart beat rhythm.
“I did it for all the wrong reasons for so long…”
“For myself”
“For Money…”
“For Fame…”
The strange in and out stops, Xavier picks himself up. Looking towards the ceiling.
“When I figured it out, god took you away from me Cari…
Then I lost it all…
When you left…”
A soft wind blows, the camera stops at Xavier who’s taped hand on his hips. He looks up closing his eyes as though someone, or something is reaching behind him.
“…Cari…”
The breeze calms, Xavier’s hands fall to his sides.
Closing his eyes he leans forward pressing his forehand against the bag.
“I got you Steve…”
The camera fades with a picture of Xavier holding his late wife, Cari.
