*We open on Chad Lights sitting in a chair, an empty chair sits opposite him.*
Chad: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome at this time, the NCW World Champion, Diamond Dallas Kanyon!
*A bad morning talk show type theme plays as DDK walks in with the world title around his waist. He sits down in the empty chair.*
DDK: Well hello, good to see you again Chad. Nice to see you got the big still cameras, don't have to worry about me BANG!ing them. Good job buddy. Smart thinker.
Chad: I'd love to ask, what is your beef with cameramen?
DDK: Don't ask about that. You don't...you just don't want to know.
Chad: Not even a little?
DDK: DO NOT MENTION IT!
Chad: Okay. Sure. But I need to ask, what about Dave? You'll be facing the Road to the Gold winner on pay-per-view in just a few short hours. What are your thoughts?
DDK: Well you see Chadley, when I was but a wee lass, I wanted to meet Mr. T. Always saying, "pity the fool" this and somebody was some type of "sucka" that. You know the drill. And he kicked ass while wearing all these gold chains. It was pretty sweet. So I find out he's going to be at the mall signing autographs. I tell everyone I know that Mr. T is going to be there and I'm going to meet him and we'll be best friends. He'll take me to Sbarro and buy me a pizza or something, right. So the day comes, and I'm out and about, and I figure, eh, I'll go a little later. The entire day I kept saying, "I'll go a little later. I'll go a little later." And then when I got there, they told me he'd just left. And when I asked the mall guy if he would ever come back again, he said he didn't know. Well, I'm never going to let something like that happen again!
Chad: Very thought provoking story Kanyon, but what exactly does that have to do with your match?
DDK: That has about as much to do with my match as all those little stories of Dave's family saying he's already world champion. Nothing.
Chad: But they believe in him, surely it's something.
DDK: Well of course they believe in him, he's family. Or he pays the bills. Or he carries his brother. There's plenty of reasons for them to believe. But frankly, who cares what they think? A couple peons we rarely see and his simpleton brother are going to tell us why he's already world champion in there eyes? Dave can be world champion of Holland Industries all he wants, I don't give a **** about that. But when it comes to being world champion of NCW, Dave has a long way to go.
Chad: Well yes, he hasn't pinned you yet, but he won the Road to the Gold. He's as ready as he'll ever be. He's already climbed the proverbial mountain in most people's eyes. I mean, he himself is a people's champ!
DDK: I...AM...THE...people's champ. One and only. Get that straight right now Chad! As for the tournament, I have two things on my side, not like I need them. One, Dave's won a tournament for a world title shot before, and dropped the ball. Two, can you name how many times a Road to the Gold winner ended up winning the world title at the PPV?
Chad: Well, just once.
DDK: Yes, and that was to crown the first ever NCW Heavyweight champion of the world.
Chad: This is true.
DDK: Exactly.
Chad: Well, I assure you, Dave wants to make up for past losses and to break the trend as it were.
DDK: I get that Chad, and if anyone could do it, I believe it would be Dave, I really do. He's got this aura about him that sometimes just makes him dredge up from near defeat and suddenly become refreshed again, and he really makes people believe in him. It's astounding really, it's like some sort of mutant power. I see it, I'm not blind. I get it. I think if he were fighting anybody else, he'd have a damn good chance at going home with the gold. But like I said, I see it. I know what Dave is all about, I know to expect him to get up again and again. I'm just crazy enough to get up again and again myself. As long as I have the brain function to try and stand, I will try and stand. This isn't just a wrestler versus a wrestler for the top prize in our sport, this is two men of iron wills, seeing who's will outlast. Dave is a recent returnee, and as believable as he can be, I just don't think his will out irons mine. I won the belt in honor rules when I obviously am not a fan of honor style. The month before that, I fell sixty feet onto concrete, and somehow not only survived, but continued to wrestle. A month before that, I destroyed my best friend in one of the most sadistic matches ever seen on TV with Nicolas Cage inspired weapons. I'm a fighter through and through. I know Dave is as well, but I just don't think he's really at my level. I mean, really, if you compare the tale of the tape, he's far and away the underdog. But you know, ask just about anybody in the locker room and any non-DDKaniac, and they'll tell you that I'm the one who looks like the underdog. Me, the world champion, is seen as the underdog. Yet they call me insane?
Chad: Well, even you call you insane.
DDK: Touche.
Chad: Well Dave and his entourage seem to think he has the world title already. How do you combat such confidence.
DDK: By having my own Chad. I don't think this belt is going anywhere. Obviously, when the dust settles, one of us will be proven wrong. Confidence is a very powerful thing though, it can make or break you before you're even in the ring. Just look at my match with Hugo during the second chance challenge. That kid didn't think he could win, he didn't even want to try. I knew I had him beat before the show even started. Dave however, doesn't lack any confidence, and considering where he is, I can't blame him. But I'm the world champion, and I know I'm the best there is at what I do. If my confidence cancels out his confidence, then we come down to the iron wills, which is pretty close. We can come down to skills, but Dave is very quick at adapting, so that's pretty even too. Then we come down to desire, which may be pretty close as well. So what does that leave us? I think it comes down to our fears. Dave fears my fist in his face. Also, Dave wants to prove to his family he's got the chops, that all he does is not in vain, missing moments in his family life is for some bigger purpose. He's afraid to fail and feel like a loser. To see his dream crushed and go home to his family, tell them he missed being with them four to five days a week every week for every year he's worked, all for nothing. His fear is to face that. His mind will be thinking about that the whole match. I don't have that fear. I have already proven my greatness by holding this belt, officially, so I can look my kids in the eye no problem. No, I just want to be the best, and to fight the best. My fear is that Dave shows up and lasts only a few minutes of my onslaught of viciousness. I don't have the weight of having everything to prove thrust upon my shoulders, I never did, because I do whatever the **** I want, and I'm proud to just be doing that. I've brought the honor back to the NCW world title, I've brought the prestige, even if no one wants to say it, or see it. I've made the world title great again, the only thing I can do now, is make it better. But I need Dave's help, and I don't think he'll disappoint in that department.
Chad: Strong words champ. It should be an epic battle.
DDK: Of epic epicness!
Chad: Indeed. Well, thank you for the time champ, I'm sure you have more preparing to do for your match.
DDK: Nah, I'm good.
Chad: Well, that was really just segway for getting to the end of this interview.
DDK: Well, I've got nowhere to be until the bell rings.
Chad: Uh...well, you don't have to go home, but you can't stay here. Ha ha.
DDK: Are you telling your world champion what to do Chad?
Chad: I...uh...
*DDK stands up and gets in Chad's face.*
DDK: ARE YOU...seriously, telling me...WHAT TO DO!?
Chad: I-I-I didn't mean to sir, it's just t-t-times up.
DDK: YOU LITTLE PIECE OF--ah, I'm just messing with ya man.
*DDK backs up.*
DDK: C'mon I'll buy you a coke or something.
Chad: Really?
DDK: Okay, fine, you buy me a coke.
Chad: But you just...
*DDK gives him an angry look.*
Chad: I mean...sure champ!
*DDK pulls Chad out of his chair and they walk away from the set.*
DDK: So when using those cameras, who operates them?
Chad: ...Why do you ask?
*The scene fades out.*
Chad: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome at this time, the NCW World Champion, Diamond Dallas Kanyon!
