OPENING
“Wow” That’s all that can be said for the monumental Road to the Gold IV pay per view, the show was amazing and thank you to everybody who made it another in a long line of successful NCW pay per views.
My first thought and I think was the biggest occurrence at the pay per view is that finally... Dave Holland wins the NCW championship. That’s one of those situations where when you’re watching it go down live, you’re just thinking “it’s about damn time.” Holland was close once before when he pushed Lance Ryan to the limit after winning the Coliseum on the first A Night to Remember, but this week Holland wasn’t coming up short, anybody who watched that match will tell you that. DDK to his credit put up one hell of fight, but Holland wanted it more and has finally been crowned as the champion.
I’m very happy right now I have to admit it, Knitington wins again, Zelda retains again and Dave Holland wins the World Title. Just on a personal level, I think it was a great week, and I’m looking forward to beginning a new round of pay per views going into a new year. And speaking of the new pay per view cycle, if you haven’t heard the news... Mind Games is indeed out as well is Transgression. There still might be a couple of more changes, so keep your eyes open, but right now the only ones confirmed are those two. November we will be bringing you “Breaking Away” to replace our lovable little show “Mind Games” whereas for Transgression NCW officials have decided to celebrate “The Riot” and give the show a name that reflects on that huge match that debuted last year at Transgression. Anyway, I think they were two good choices, and I effing hated Transgression, so that’s good.
Now to the polls, you guys did great this week! As you can see from the cards and from the poll you were spot on with your predictions. Venom indeed gets his shot at Joe Ragnal and the X Championship this week. Since joining here Venom has been on a roll, he has brought back the Honor championship, which has been hottly contested ever since he did so, he’s won the tag team titles with his friend Doc and has just been one of the better wrestlers around. Good job everybody on that choice.
This week, is of course, one of the standard polls I use after every pay per view.... What match did you enjoy the most from Road tot he Gold IV? Was the main event the best match of the night as it was billed to be, or did another match come in and really steal the show for you? Voice your opinions here. It should be interesting to see what you fans thought.
WEEKLY REVIEW
So I’ve been pimping this event for like two and a half months now and, I’m pretty sure it didn’t quite live up to the high expectations that I put on it in your eyes, but it totally did in mine. We saw so much great action, titles changing hands, some returns, it was a special night... seeing Davey Ortega and Jack Manson coming back to NCW on the same night, two corner stones of the early days of NCW was something amazing. Seeing Dave Holland, another one of those corner stones finally winning the championship was equally as amazing. For me it was a night to celebrate how far NCW had come and we certainly did that.
I brought away a few things from this show that I think everybody should notice. To begin with... amazing job jerkass. I know we’ve had our back and forths the past few weeks, but you totall brought the A-game for this. You can be a world champion for me and this company any day. I hate mentioning her so much, because I think it’s me being totally bias some... but Zelda... girl just knows how to win, you could see it on the faces of the fans, you could see it in Emma’s demeanor... everybody thought Zelda’s time was up but here she goes and just when you think she’s every trick in her book, she does something like that. I’m proud of my little sis. Then of course, what kind of journalist would I be if I didn’t mention that amazing leap from Steve Awesome that almost killed Xavier Cross... I’ve never seen anything like it, I don’t know how Cross was still breathing after having his chest cavity caved in. The finally, I’ve gotta give some huge props to The Rat Pack, besides being totally annoying in this little crusade against all things NCW, you can tell they know what it takes to win, they just came up a bit short, but I totally don’t expect this to be the last we’ll hear of them.
Now... those weren’t the only things to take away from this show, no, those were just a few thoughts that crossed my mind and felt needed to be put out there because they were extra special to me. Going over the whole show, you’ll see a lot of great action, a lot of surprises and some real bombshells. I’m not sure what’s going on between Karras and Everyman or Honcho and Maniac, or even Adam and Jack Manson, but it sure was interesting to watch. I’m a little shocked at a few things, of course just like the rest of you I don’t know what’s going on, but overall this has to be considered one of NCW’s better shows, even with all the high quality shows we already produce.
THE FAB FIVE
This week there are a lot of people I could throw on this list, winning or losing, so many of the wrestlers showed so much heart and so much will to win. I have to narrow it down thought and pick the best five performances of the weekend, of course Dave Holland is going to be number one... but we’ll see how it fills out the rest of the way, shall we?
5. Zelda Knite :: Have to give it to my girl Z here. I think many people thought there was no way that she wasn’t going to pull out another pay per view win, her luck was about to run out sometime right? No... it didn’t even look like she was close to slowing down. So proud of her right now.
4. Falcon :: Takes a lot to come out there and wrestle under those circumstances and maintain your composure and nobody is as calm and collected as Falcon is. The man was cool as ice and just went about his business, putting Andrew Jacobsen away. He’s only 32, and he proved he still has plenty of fight in him.
3. Jason Blair :: Blair before Battle Grounds was easily the hottest wrestler in NCW, going over a month without a single loss and it earned him a National title shot. Even though Freakke had been toying with him and poking him, trying to get Blair to crack, he stayed in his game and walked out with the National title.
2. Blood Ties :: After Angel put Doc away, many people didn’t know what was going on with the tag team titles, but it was decided to name the undefeated Rat Pack as the number one contenders and they got a huge challenge from the duo, just barely walking out with their titles still in tact, great performance in defending against a team they had very little time to prepare for.
1. Dave Holland :: Told you I was going to put him first? How could I not? He went through that entire tournament to ear the shot, he then came into the big pay off match and won his first World championship. Amazing feat and one we won’t soon forget.
PREVIEW OF THE WEEK
As you may or may not have heard, this week marks NCW’s 299th and 300th episodes. That’s right fans, NCW has produced 300 shows for you in our 3+ years of existence. With that in mind, we tried to give you an extra special show for the event. That’s why you’ll get to see two title matches with one of them being the ever popular “Showcase” match. You’ll definitely want to tune in to see this, trust me.
The action we have planned is unreal. When I see matches like Johnny Holliday and DDk and Steve Awesome versus Charlie Velez sitting towards the beginning of a show, i know what is coming is going to be something spectacular. I think you fans will really enjoy this, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure it’s an awesome show for you all. Just think about it, we’ll have the X Championship on the line with Venom and Joe Ragnal.. you know.. the guy you just picked to win that title shot Venom. Yes that one, and we’ll have the Women’s title on the line as Zelda defends back to back weeks, this time against five challengers where she can lose the title without having to be pinned.
Other then that what can I say other than... “It’s the 300th episode people!” If that isn’t enough to make you tune in, then maybe NCW just isn’t your cup of tea, and I’m fine with that, just stop torturing yourself though and move on.
WHAT TO KEEP AN EYE ON
Adam Knite vs. Dave Holland :: The new World Champion is already getting tested as right after winning Road to the Gold and then the pay off match, he gets thrown straight to a former World champion. Both of these men are also former Gladiators for NCW so that should be an extra little treat here. This should be a technical masterpiece and with similar resumes like both Hall of Famers, both World champions, and both Coliseum winners... this is going to be an exciting match.
Joe Everyman :: It should be interesting to see how Everyman rebounds from what transpired at Road to the Gold, to see where his mind is, to see how far he’s willing to go for his wife now. I know I give Everyman a lot of grief, and honestly it’s well deserved but I wouldn’t want to be somebody facing off against him right now, not with him like this.
Andrew Jacobsen :: Along the same lines of Joe Everyman, it should be interesting to see how Jacobsen responds to that last man standing loss from Road to the Gold. I think this kid has the talent to come firing right back and really never miss a beat. It’s also a very good thing that he has the totally right mindset in that every loss is immediately behind him, so he can keep looking forward.
Total Eclipse vs. Upper Echelon :: Jack Manson and Davey Ortega are back people... now I know they’re not officially a team anymore...but this is my loving way to honor their past success. Total Eclipse may have came up short in their first outing against Knitington but do you really expect a team with that much talent, Brad Kane and Evan Andrews to be pushed to the side? They have what it takes to be tag team champions, just have to get on a roll, and that could start here with an impressive win over a tandem that used to be the Tag Team champions.
PREDICTIONS
Last Week’s Record:: 10-1 :: OH YEAH! Do you see that!? Come on... come on... you know that’s awesome. Only got one match wrong and that was of course my prediction of Falcon versus Jacobsen. You know you’re jealous Keybo.
Overall Record:: 244-138 :: Look at that record.. over one hundred up in the win column, the highest winning percentage of any prediction maker that’s ever stepped into NCW and Also I’d like to point out that “The Pulse” ended with a 63.6 winning percentage and I am currently at 63.9.... SUCK IT KEYBO.
TRAUMA
Singles Match
Daniel S. Hunter vs. Hugo Conway
:: Have to go with Hugo Conway. He’s been too good in his short time here to lose this match to Hunter.
Singles Match
Andrew Jacobsen vs. Jason Blair
:: Andrew Jacobse gets thrown right back in the fire after taking on Falcon, he gets National Champion Jason Blair. It’s a tough draw but I think he can win this.
Xtreme Match
Andrew Cage vs. Chuck Moss
:: Andrew Cage has been very disappointing since joining NCW, he showed a lot of talent but seems to faltering so I’ll have to pick Chuck Moss.
Main Event
Singles Match
Ander Carvetti vs. Joe Everyman
:: Tough one... is Joe Everyman even in the right frame of mind for this match? Is he ready for this? I have to go with Ander, I don’t think Joe is.
WEB SHOW
Mike Honcho vs. Alex Jones
:: Gotta go with Classic on this match. Honcho has been in a slump, and has recently been struck down by his own dad who took his Honor Championship.
Bad Luck Chuck vs. Spike Kane
:: Holy crap who let Spike back!? Not I... ok.. maybe it was.. I don't know.. anyway, he's winning this match.
Ricky Johnson vs. Gabriel Karras
:: If Ricky Johnson shows up to figth, Ricky Johnson can win any match he’s ever put into. The question is will he? I’ll go with yes.
Homeless Harold vs. Xavier Williams
:: That’s not Gib behind the mask, I don’t care what anybody thinks, but the guy is just as vicious as Gib was, so I have to side with whoever that is.
NCW's 300th EPISODE
COLLISION
Singles Match
Johnny Holliday vs. DDK
:: This is a tough one.. Holliday has shown that he has what it takes to win on any Sunday and I guess I’ll side with him.
Singles Match
Falcon vs. Lex Sense
:: Falcon... all the way. Lex Sense has been impressive, yes.. yes he has. However, with that said, he hasn’t been on Falcon’s level.
Singles Match
X Championship Match
Venom vs. Joe Ragnal
:: It’s going to be close, real close... but I think Venom has what it takes to walk out of here with that X Championship and get another title around his waist. He’s been doing great lately and I don’t know if Ragnal can stop him.
Singles Match
Steve Awesome vs. Charlie Velez
:: I’m going to call this my UPSET OF THE WEEK. Charlie Velez comes out and he surprises and beats Steve Awesome.
Singles Match
Dave Holland vs. Adam Knite
:: I’m going to go with my husband here, based solely on the fact that Dave Holland has won five straight matches, went through that hellish tournament, and might be a bit down after all that.
Tag Team Match
Total Eclipse vs. Jack Manson & Davey Ortega
:: This is a tough one... but I’ll go ahead and side with Total Eclipse just based off the fact that Manson and Ortega are still working on getting back into ring shape.
Main Event
NCW Showcase Match
Women's World Championship Match
Zelda Knite vs. Trish Newborn vs. Roxxxie vs. Rayne vs. Ayla St. James vs. Emma Danielson
:: I’m going to look at this as Zelda versus Everybody else... they’ll all be gunning for her and I think this is the day she finally loses the belt, so I’m going with “everybody else” yeah.. cheap prediction... but that’s what you get when it’s a six person match.
THE KNITELINE
James Basil; Carmel, Indiana
BIG FAN OF KNITELINE! What is your take on "Mr. Showtime" Johnny Holliday and Ander Carvetti (The Rat Pack)? Any prediction as to whether or not they'll follow through on their declaration of war against the roster? They're getting cheered a lot with the fans - why do you think they'd do this? I don't think it's in spite of the fans, but rather to send a spark of life to people...but what's your take on the whole thing?
:: They're good guys, they are a bit arrogant though, but that's what happens when you have as much success as they have over the years. I have no reason to believe that they won't follow through with anything they set their minds to.
Sam Murchie San fransisco california writes
"Hey kelly can I ask a quick question?. These guys the rat pack I'm a big fan of their work but I don't understand why one of them is such an asshole and then considers himself to be a "face" when he's clearly a loud mouthed "heel".....oh I'm sorry do we only ask kayfabe questions here?
:: What in the hell is "Kayfabe"? I don't know what you're talking about... -innocent-
Dave T. Zombie, K-Town, PA
Just got done watching RttG. Great show. A couple belts changed hands. My question this week is who do you think will be the best new Champion?
:: I think Maniac has a long Honor title run in him, he's going to be great.
Anne Smith, Vancouver
Hey Kelly, my question is; Are you as excited for Awesome Love as I am? I love reality TV and I think Steve Awesome amazingly sexy. I'm definitely going to be tuning in on the show when it debuts.....already got it on my TIVO! By the way...tell Steve I said Hi......and that I love him....does he think about me? I....
*dial Tone*
:: No I'm not that excited about... Steve Awesome at the center of attention for rabid desperate, drunken women to adore... come on..
Elizabeth McWilliams; New York City, NY
Hey Kelly, I was wondering what are your thoughts about the 300th nCw episode being on the same date as Samhain? ... And you believe in pure evil?
:: Who cares? It's just a day. Who believes in that nonsense? It's just any other day of the week for NCW.
Patty O'Furniture, Dublin Ireland
Hey Kelly, my question is this. After the recent events at Road to the Gold, do you think Maria meant what she said to Joe? And do you think the fans will forgive him for what he has done?
:: Who cares? It's Maria Williams... she's as flake and a half. You know what I find weird? Just how easily her and Joe seem to have just forgotten that he cheater on her with Ashlie Ember... I mean, you'd think a major plot point like that would get a little more attention wouldn't you? Would cause a lot more internal and external conflict... wouldn't you?
Bill Bashington; Bizzaro World
"Do you think at some point guy's egos in nCw will get so big that they start calling into Knitelife just to get you to talk about them?
Oh, and Knitington is 5 and 0. Discuss."
:: I think we have a case of that right now... -shifty eyes- anyway... Knitington being undefeated makes me very happy, I love those guys. For some reason.... -shifty eyes-
CLOSING THOUGHTS
:: No, before you ask... I have no idea what Adam was thinking when he went out there and acted like that. I’m not sure if it was some deep down dislike of Jack Manson as it was more of a... I’m tired of sitting dormant situation... we’ll see.
:: 300 Episodes.... can you believe that? NCW just keeps on rolling on every week, a big thanks to everybody who has made this possible over the years and a big thanks to those who are working on continuing this tradition of success.
:: What’s the big deal with Joe Everyman whipping Maria? I mean... where I come from that’s called foreplay... ok ok ok.. I know that’s a bit insinsitive, but seriously I don’t think it was that big of a deal, it was an accident people. Lay off the man.
:: You know what just hit me? I should of made a “Father knows Best” crack during that Honor title match. I’m kicking myself over that right now.
:: I feel bad for Freakke, not only losing the National title in a very hard fought match that could of went either way, but he also hurt his back and will be missing action for a little while it seems. In some weird news that’s kind of related to this... rumor has it that Freakke has been doing some training as a referee and is working on his ref’s license, maybe he’s looking ahead for a career after wrestling?
:: Spike Kane is back. Nuff said..... that jerk.
:: You know what match I’m most looking forward to this week? Steve Awesome versus Charlie Velez... that should be a great one right there. They go from ruling this company at my father’s side to going off toe to toe.
:: You know what I’m not looking forward to? The debut of “Awesome Love”... really? We needed one more medium for Steve Awesome to walk around showing how much he loves himself? Really? That’s the best use of NCW funds we could think of? Gag.
:: 300TH EPISODE! I just wanted to say that one more time.
Anyway, that’s it for me this week, I hope you really enjoyed the article and as always I hope you come back for more next week, but I know you will.. since they always come back for seconds with me...-hee,hee-. Until next time...
