OPENING
It's that time again, for another exciting and thrilling adventure that I like to call my weekly Knitelife column! That's right I'm back again and ready to bring you the scoop on all the NCW action for the week. As you probably heard this week is going to be a special Holiday Edition of NCW's Collision, our only card for the week but man does it have some wicked good matches lined up! I'm very excited for this show, sorta makes me wish I was booked so I could be apart of it in another way than just commentating on it.
The other big news this week of course was that announcement of the yearly award winners. The nominations were intense and the voting was nail biting, there was really only one category that wasn't close, every other winner won by one or two votes at the most. It was honestly an amazing turnout and a fierce battle between everybody who was nominated. The biggest bit of news coming from these awards though has to be Dave Holland winning two of them despite only being back in NCW for a few months. He's obviously one of the most respected men on the roster and his finally winning the world title was a huge event. Then of course.... Sydney winning the Wrestler of the Year... she just keeps setting the bar higher and higher for every female wrestler that comes after her, one has to wonder if anybody will ever match her success.
I pretty much agreed with all the winners of the awards. This episode of Collision will also feature every winner's acceptance speech, so that should be interesting. I for one am hoping that Lance Ryan makes special guest appearance to accept the Match of the Year award, that would be a lot of fun I think, good surprise too.
The poll last week was over who is most likely to win the RiOT match out a selection of randomly drawn names. You've made your voice heard and Andrew Jacobsen just gets past Destructor for the win. Andrew Jacobsen is looking at entering number one though, which could be very hard to overcome, however Jacobsen entered very early last year too and surprised everybody with a great run, he'll have to outdo that if he even wants to stand a chance in this years match.
So the poll this week is a continuation of last week's poll, like I promise. Some more random names, some more voting, it's as simple as that, just vote on who you think has the best chance of winning from those names. It should be interesting to see which two wrestlers come out as the fan favorites here.
REVIEW
:: TRAUMA ::
Well, I'm disappointed in myself for losing right off.. but hell Roxxxie is a tough competitor, no shame there, just kind of sad that I let Adam down, other than my short comings this week... Trauma was a good show, the main event was incredible really, Shane Hunt had the former Champion on the ropes before DDK managed to make his own luck and steal a victory away. This week's show was good.
:: COLLISION ::
Collision as usual was just fantastic this week. I mean a show where Steve Awesome vs. Jack Manson vs. Ricky Johnson is going down in the middle of the card is just going to be phenominal right off the bat right? I know. Then with a Death Cage main event and a match like Venom taking on Dave Holland, the show just hit you in the face and didn't let up for a single second, all coming together for Angel's huge announcement for Time to Riot, Dave Holland defending his world title against Charlie Velez in a lumber jack match with Angel as special guest referee! Amazing.
This whole thing between Falcon and Zelda got a whole lot interesting... Sydney saved her job with winning the match for her team, but afterwords refused to even shake the man's hand who she had just partnered with. I'm starting to think that I was they'd just kiss and make up, seeing them hurt this much... it's kind of sad. I know... it's a little out of character for me to feel bad for others, but hey... what can I say? She's still my little sister and he's still a good friend of mine.
The matches this week were just very well done, It sucks that my husband and DDK would do what they did to Total Eclipse though... they really put them out of action for a while which is a shame because many thought TE was going to be a huge tag team for a long time to come in this company and now that is all gone thanks to those two, but good on Jack Manson to come out there and put an end to the attack... stopping it before it got even worse.
Overall the shows this week did a very good job and I have to give them a solid B-
THE FAB FIVE
5. DDK :: Hey sometimes you just have to do whatever it takes to win, and Shane Hunt let his guard down when he decided to mouth DDK instead of trying to put him away. I think Hunt is going to learn something from this.
4. Roxxxie :: Speaking of people letting their guard down.. Roxxxie capitalizes on my mistake and beats yours truly. She's still on a roll, and she might just roll right to a world title shot.
3. Jack Manson :: He had a huge match, Ricky Johnson and Steve Awesome in the same night... that's no easy task, but he pulled out the win and pinned Steve Awesome. Impressive.
2. Dave Holland :: Venom came to fight this week and anybody who watched the show will tell you that V had every intention on winning that match, he came up just a bit short and Holland again showed why he's the world champion.
1. Alex Jones :: Amazing match and a great win for Alex. He had to take on Charlie Velez which is never easy, but he did it and captured the victory.
PREVIEW
LAST WEEK'S RECORD:: 6-4 :: Not Terrible but I know I can do better than this. This week I really want to go out the year with a huge bang.
OVERALL RECORD:: 310-180 :: I'm still doing good, just gotta do better than a 6-4 next time and I know that.
:: HOLIDAY COLLISION ::
X Championship Match:
Joe Ragnal vs. Homeless Harold
:: Homeless Harold is getting the shot he earned when he beat Falcon in that ridiculous three on one handicap match. This is going to be a huge match for Ragnal as he's giving up a ton of size in this match, he has to be able to stop Harold from getting his hands on him, otherwise the Homeless Hero is going to break him in half.
Winner: Homeless harold
Tag Match
Joe Everyman and Lex Sense vs. Charlie Velez and Venom
:: Joe Everyman and Lex Sense have yet to lose a match as a team... yet their first match was a handicapped match against Faclon in another one of those stupid punishment matches, and the other one of their opponents couldn't even make it to the ring after a savage beating, and the other was clearly in no position to wrestle a match. I guess management wants to see what they've got with these two... maybe Velez and Venom won't get lose in trafic on the way to the arena.
Winner: The Young Guns
Mixed Tag Team Match:
Zelda Knite and Senior Xtremo vs. Roxxxie and Chuck Moss
:: Last week Spike was teaming with Roxxxie and this week he teams against her. This should be an interesting match. Roxxxie and Zelda have met before and have put on a great show and Chuck Moss is the National champion taking on a man who was one of the first winners of that title. Should be a fantastic match to see.
Winners: Syd and Spike
Assault X-Mas Match:
Shane Hunt vs. Hugo Conway vs. Todd Williams vs. Jason Blair
:: An Assault X match set to the spirit of the season, the winner will receive a special present that they won't be informed of until the match is over, should be interesting to say the least, just for the mystery part of the match.
Winner: Shane Hunt
Singles Match:
Falcon vs. Rob Diamond
:: These two have faced off so many times I don't know what else to say about them, I couldn't possibly come up with anything that hasn't already been said, and I'm pretty sure everybody knows the story between these two. This will be the first time in the ring together since Zelda was caught kissing Rob, to make Falcon angry, so it should be interesting.
Winner: Rob Diamond
Main Event:
Pinfall for Position Match
Steve Awesome vs. Andrew Jacobsen
:: So my dad is again showing his love for Awesome by just handing him the number 30 spot in the Riot? I'm glad Andrew took offense to this and stepped up, challenging Awesome for a fight. This is going to be even more brutal, and I didn't think that was possible with these two. With what they're already fighting over.... adding the #30 spot to the situation is going to make it unbelievable.
Winner: Steve Awesome
WHAT TO KEEP AN EYE ON
::Falcon vs. Rob Diamond:: These two are always figthing, always bickering over something. Women..wrestling... it doesn't matter, they don't have the same opinion on anything! I've never seen two men differ so much... and they have no problem telling the other just how much different they are. It's going to be a huge match for this special holiday episode.
::Assault X-Mas Match:: Four great young NCW wrestlers going at it with a mystery present to be had hanging above the ring. How can it get better than that? I have no idea, should be a fantastic showing and the winner will be rewarded greatly for his efforts here. You won't want to miss it.
KNITELINE
Phillipe Henry; Nice, France
Question: Realistically, what is you thinking of zee first two Riot match entries chances of winning zee match?
:: IT's going to be so tough to overcome something like that...not just because of the getting tired and worn out factor but also because statistically speaking it's just so much harder to last in this type of setting.
Homie The Clown, Brooklyn, New York.
After watching the Holland vs Venom match I have just one question who has the best chance of beating Dave Holland? Charlie Velez, Venom, or someone else? It seemed like Venom was slow close but Velez seems to be on pace to get a rematch at Time to Riot while Venom is going to have to win the Riot to get another match with him. Is there someone else in the Riot you think would have a better chance then either of them?
:: Someone who would have a better chance at beating Dave? No, not really. Velez and Venom despite being raging douches are great wrestlers and they can wrestle anybody to a victory.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
:: Good grief... if Zelda didn't have a big enough of a head... it's going to grow twice as large with a match of the year and wrestler of the year victory. Sheesh.
:: It's kind of bull crap that my dad would just hand Awesome the #30 spot like that.
:: Yes... you heard right, Brad Kane and Evan Andrews have been released from their NCW contracts after last nights Collision. First they get attacked on the show, then they get fired.. tough week.
:: In the spirit of the yearly awards this year... I decided to give out my own personal Knitelife yearly awards, I hope you enjoy.
Biggest Waste of Potential for the Year
- Joe Everyman: For having so much talent and never being able to do anything with it.
Worst Moment of the Year
- Zelda loses virginity: Did that REALLY have to be such a big story? I mean come on!
Worst Hair Cut of the Year
- Joe Ragnal: Dude was sporting the blue cut, that was pretty unique and well stupid.
Worst Promoer of the Year
- Jack Wilde: Dude made little sense and was terrible on the mic, I couldn't understand a damn word he was saying
Worst match of the Year
- Camelot Cage Match: I Still don't know what the f*** that was supposed to be.
The Year's Stupidest Gimmick
- Dead Girls: their sole mission was to take out Zelda Knite... who has a habit of calling her fans “Zombies” so... Zelda's fans are “Zombies” and the group on the mission to take her down are “Dead Girls”... wow.. that name was so stupid.
The Year's Biggest Fail
- Rob Diamond's Suicide attempt: He couldn't even do that right.
The Year's Worst Champion
- Tommy Victor: Not because he was a bad wrestler, but because he became the first person in NCW history to lose his championship without anything to do with what was going on in NCW, getting himself fired for being a jerk backstage.
The Year's Worst Rip-Off of the Knitelife
- DDK's Show: Wow... that was just bad, and it didn't last long.
NCW's Biggest Disappointment
- Tare Fenix: Has there ever been a wrestler who has came into this company with bigger hype? Maybe Venom... but he's lived up to said hype. Fenix was supposed to be the second coming, yet all she did was fizzle and fade away... then apparently fell in love with somebody who has a fetish for choking his wife.... brilliant.
:: This Knitelife officially marks me passing "The Pulse" in number of episodes (not counting the old Fox Reports)... WOOT! Suck it Keybo! Knitelife for ever! You've got nothing on this ya fruit.
Well NCW fans that's all I have for you tonight, I hope you enjoy this show and I wish you all happy Holidays whatever you celebrate, be it Christmas or Festivus, it doesn't matter, enjoy the time of year and I'll see you next week. Until next time....
