Can I beat Jack Manson twice? That's the question that keeps getting lobbed my way.Do I really think that I can prove the NCW fan base wrong again by beating another one of there NCW founding fathers?
Can I really prove to the masses that the reason these people are considered founding fathers and cornerstones is just because they were in the right place at the right time? Can I continue to knock off there heroes one by one until the realize that the Young Guns are the true legends in this company?
Really though, will beating Jack Manson even make a difference? I could beat every single person on the roster that was here the day this place opened and the NCW masses would still find reasons to believe that I'm not what I say I am. If the only reason is because of where I came from, they will find an excuse.
I'm not a mat wrestler because I came from somewhere with Xtreme in the name. My domination in the past means nothing because you didn't beat anyone who means anything to us. Who cares if you beat half the roster before you came here, you haven't beat them here.
Excuses, that's all they have. Now they're throwing that I got pinned by Joe Everyman everywhere I go. Forget that Falcon distracted my partner. Forget that I got bashed with chairs so hard that I was seeing two. I can't make the same excuses as they make to shoot me down because it's a double standard. I have to be ****ing perfect to gain some respect. This is why I won't try and beat Jack Manson, I HAVE to beat Jack Manson.
Venom is sitting in some fancy waiting room. There are plants hung on the walls growing over the sides of there pots. The walls are plain white but there are nice HD flat screens on the walls that are currently showing a black screen. Venom is sitting in a plush arm chair talking on his blue tooth and he is dressed up in a black suit with a red power tie. He is talking on his blue tooth as we break in on his conversation.
"No, I don't know why Kevin has given me his address on national television but it has given Charlie some ammunition though and he has a plan. No, I'm not with him, he's a big boy and he can do this on his own. I have an idea of what he's planning but I don't really want to let the cat out of the bag. Oh, I got invited to be a guest on a talk show and promote the DVD of the first season of the Gun Show. Yeah, it should be cool. No, I actually don't know what it is. My agent booked it and I had some time between Collision and Meta so I just ran with it. What do you mean you haven't seen any advertisements for me on any of the big talk shows? There had to be one. Yeah, maybe you just missed it. Anyway, I think it's almost time to begin taping so I'll call you after the show Z. Later."
Venom reaches up and clicks his ear and then texts his agent to see what the hell show he's on when someone walks into the room. It's some sort of stage hand. She's young and cute and is carrying a clip board.
"Mr. Jones, you're going to be needed on the stage in twenty minutes. This is going to be great."
Venom quickly thinks of a question to ask that won't insult her by him not knowing what show he's going to be on.
"Yeah, about that, who else is on this show?"
"Just you of course. I mean, your friends and family are here, but this is all about you sir. So, twenty minutes, alright?"
Venom just nods. All about him? His family? What's going on here? He sits back down and texts his agent again. He has to figure out what's going on before he hits the stage.
Jack, I told you last week that if you won the right to face me for the National Championship that I'd show you the respect that you deserve and basically called me a liar. You're probably right. I probably with rip apart your person character and do everything I can to make you look like the dumb kid that you really can be, but right now I just want to say bravo. It must have taken everything in your body to defeat one of the top three wrestlers in this company. I really truly don't know how you did it. I mean, kicking out of that Twist of Fate maneuver of his showed some real heart. Lord knows that I couldn't do it last week.
You did it though. You kicked out and you overcame him trying to lock you into a submission hold and you laid him out flat. You really deserve this opportunity and I am sure you plan on making the most of it. I don't blame you. You winning this match would make you a three time National Champion and that would tie you with the third best wrestler in this company on amount of times holding that belt. You'd become an instant star.
I of course have my own agenda, and that agenda does not involve you becoming a three time Champion and becoming an instant star. No, my agenda involves me beating you for the second time My agenda is to beat you and break this horrible streak I've been on not only in the last two weeks but my horrible streak of never retaining a title here in NCW. My agenda is to walk down to that ring on Sunday night and prove to the World that I am the best Champion this company could possibly have carry the National Championship right now and that there is no one that can stop me. If that means I have to forget the respect I have for you Jack, then so be it, because I am not going to let anyone or anything stop me from getting to where I want to be in this company, especially not you or Joe Everyman.
We're back in the green room that Venom is sitting in and once again he's talking on his blue tooth. Apparently he finally got a hold of his agent.
"What they hell show am I on? What do you mean you really don't know? You got a letter with an invitation and you didn't even bother to research it? I know I wouldn't have researched it! I wouldn't have researched it because that's what I pay my agent to do! Good, read the invitation to me. Okay, that's pretty vague, was there anything else in there? Another letter? Is it signed? No, who would send me an invitation and an unsigned letter?"
Venom stops for a moment, there is a look in his eyes of sudden realization. It can't be the same guy right? He stopped for so many weeks. Why would he come back now?
"E-Mail me this other letter damn it."
Venom clicks his ear to hang up his blue tooth and pulls his phone out and reads the E-Mail.
You claim to admire the history and have respect for history because you will never know the future if you don't study the past. You only seem to respect your own history though. You will never beat Jack Manson again if you don't respect the fact that he was the first National Champion. You will never beat Jack Manson again if you fail to realize he's won that belt more then you. You will never beat Jack Manson again if you fail to see the fire he had back then. You will never beat Jack Manson again if you fail to realize that lightning CAN strike twice.
Until you can figure that out on your own I have gotten you a gig. You probably didn't even bother to research the gig and you probably won't even see this letter until it's to late. I have taken the liberty though to give you a gift with this gig. Since you love yourself so much and love your own history so much, Venom, this is your life.
Venom grits his teeth as he punches the email closed with his forefinger. He goes to toss his phone across the room but composes himself and puts the phone back in his pocket. He takes a deep breath and walks out of the room as the camera focus' on the TV screen as it lights up with the opening credits of 'This is your Life.'
Jack, we could very well steal the show this week. The crowd hates bother Charlie and Falcon. I'm sure they've grown as tired of the Andrew Jacobsen and Steve Awesome family drama. What else is left on the card? A few tag match with two former world champions who have lost a step and a handicap match starring Joe Everyman and the Kane Brothers. If we can't top that with our incredible in ring skills and a little more knowledge of each other after our last match then we are failures.
I point this is out because as much as I hate those fans who boo me for being myself, I only get paid if they show up to the arena. I also want to steal the show for another obvious reason, to feed my own ego. To hear them yelling and screaming about how awesome out match is just motivates me more and puts me on a whole other level. It pulls out the best in me every single time. To hear them scream and cheer makes me remember the days when I was on top of the world and they would boo me just for smiling because I was so hated by the crowd. The more those people scream for me Jack, the more confident I get. That's why I'm glad you won, because I know we'll tear that house down and I'll get that high I've been looking for from those fans.
Have you ever felt that high Jack? Were there as many fans watching New Championship Wrestling as there are now? When they screamed during the very first National Championship match did you feel like you were on top of the world? I've known that feeling quite a few times Jack and I've had that feeling all over the world. I've had that feeling so many times that I can't help but want and crave it more then anything in the world. It's the sole reason I agreed to come back to wrestling when my good friends Doc and Charlie Velez called me and told me Leo had a contract ready for me. As much as I wanted to stay home and live my life with my kids I had to come back just to get that feeling one more time. I finally caught a glimpse of that feeling the night I beat down Brad Kane and finally got a win over him but that was at a Trauma event and there weren't as many people and it just wasn't the same. I got a little more of the high when I won this National Championship on Collision, but it just wasn't quite enough. Our match though, if could be my chance. It could be my opportunity to feel that high one more time.
I hope you're ready to bring it Jack. I hope you're ready for a full out fight for your life. I hope you're ready to steal the show. I hope you're ready for all of this because I would expect nothing less. Lets tear this damn house down Jack and show these people what true Champions are. Let's make them cheer so loud that they'll never forget the night they witnessed Venom beat Jack Manson in Detroit, MI.
