We open up to the piercing blue light of halogen headlights. It sliced though the jet black sky like a hot knife through butter. The ground below it, some type of hard cement surface or maybe black top. In the middle of the twin beams was a pair of legs seemingly cut off at the torso leaning against the car. In it’s lap, you could see a pair of hands pressing buttons on a cell phone. He hit’s a particular button and the phone begins to speak.
New message from Jayson Matthews.

“Yo dawg
….why in the fizzuck does Homeless Harold have my sister making pies?
I swear to God if you don’t make this **** right,
I will straight up go to the trunk on yo’ ass, bro!
Don’t even play with me,
I’ll go straight to the trunk.
Fix it!”

“You think I deserve this? That this is what I have coming to me? My karma? That the things I’ve done in my past are finally coming back to kick me in the ass? This moment is the redemption for Adam and Kelly, for Xavior Cross, for Jacobsen, for Trent….this is my punishment?
“You’re probably right….”
“I’m not a very nice person. I spent a good two months plowing a fat ugly chick I didn’t even like just to piss off this one douche. I beat the crap out of Trent Helms and sent him home for another two years. I get a kick out of other’s misfortunes, it’s a hobby of mine. So when someone that has known me for years suddenly turns there back on me and employs a giant retard in a rubber mask to try and kill me, it doesn’t have the same effect that it would have on most people….
“Don’t get me wrong….it still hurts….
…a lot….
“But when you play the games I play, you have to be able to take the hits when they come in. You have to be able to just absorb the other person’s attempt and just sort bottle it up in the back of your mind. You have to take that feeling of hurt, that feeling of betrayal, the broken pieces of an already cold heart and push them aside. You need to think clearly and plan the next move carefully. Everyone expects me to go in all guns blazing, fight alongside Rob and Zelda, save Mandi and rid the world of the evil monsters that inhabit it, all so Homeless Harold can sit back and say….”I helped you see the light Steve….I changed you into a good person…I made you better.”
“Well that’s not the way I’m playing….”
“Hello everyone this is Chad Lights! Standing here in front of Steve Awesome’s locker room. Moments ago as Collision went off the air you saw the video that shocked the world. Mandi Matthews was behind Harold’s attacks the whole time! Were standing by so we can be the first to get a comment from Steve Awesome on this pressing matter.”
Suddenly, the door behind him starts to open. Steve Awesome slowly steps out with a duffel bag slung over his shoulder. As soon as he notices the camera crew and the photographers standing in front of him he immediately points his head to the floor.
“Steve…The world has to know how your feeling after getting the news about Mandi. I mean, I was shocked to find out that Mandi had set this whole thing up to begin with so I can only imagine how you must be feeling. Care to comment?”
Steve doesn’t even look up from the ground.
“No.”
“Well, how does this change your game plan going into Cross Roads?”
Steve merely responds with a weak shrug.
“Easy…..I’m not going to Cross Roads….”
Chad’s jaw drops.
“What? What do you mean your not going to Cross Roads? You have a match to compete in!”
His head finally looks up from the ground. The dark soulless sunglasses on his face, mixed with the twisted sneer on his face made him look cold.
“I don’t care anymore.”
Chad glances around at the other cameramen and then back at Steve.
“But what about Rob Diamond and Zelda Knite? What about Mandi?”
Steve wasn’t even really looking at Chad or any of the cameras, he just looks past them all toward the exit.
“****’em.”
And with that he shoulders through Chad and the rest of the crowd and just walks away and out the door.
Back to the same scene from before. The car was still there and you could still see the lower part of a body typing away on a cell phone, but this time you could see what look like yellow lines on the ground and what look like stone stairs in the background. The phone goes off again.
New Message from Rob Diamond.

Hey, dick bag!
You said we were going to get together this week.
Talk a little strategy about the match.
But no one’s herd from you since Sunday.
I saved your ass man!
You better not douche me over on this….

“What were you expecting Harold? For me to feel bad about myself? To sit down and have a life changing revelation about the way I live life? I bet you had it in your narrow mind that I was going to wind up thanking you at the end of all this, for making me better?
“Why on Earth would I give you the satisfaction?”
“Huh? Why would I just play right along in your little mind game? I’m not going to come to Cross Roads to try and stop you Harold. Because you know what? I don’t even want her if she’s going to go behind my back to teach me a lesson. I don’t appreciate her? I don’t care about her? I cart her all over the world with me with my own dollar. She lives in my own house. I take care of her, feed her, give her a roof to live under and she goes and hatches an evil revenge plot over some little insults?
“Come on….You have got to be kidding me.”
“I’m supposed to step inside a ring with two masked men built like a brick **** house and there pudgy psycho friend, whom I’d still totally bang by the way…yeah I have no shame I know, and prove I care about someone who tried to have me beat up? I’m supposed to ride on my white steed and save the poor maiden who actually seems to enjoy herself somewhat? What kind of little idiot do you think I am? I’m not going to risk my body for her now. Screw that. This match is xtreme rules. No holds barred. Anything goes. Skip that! Marry the bitch Harold. Put a ring on it and you two can play fifties house wife all day every day for all I care.
You can have that backstabbing whore, and I can stay home and catch up on some of the TV shows I’ve been missing lately.
We both win.”
And as for Maniac and Desiree? What more is there to say? Maniac was never my issue really. I definitely wouldn’t mind showing up and slapping the stupid out of him for the beat downs I’ve suffered from him but I guess I can live without it. And Desiree, even though she’s kind of chunky I’d still probably bang her. But I don’t really have much shame so I don’t know what that says about Desiree. Anyways….I’m pretty much gift wrapping Rob and Zelda for you so you better effing thank me later once all this crap is over. And then there’s Rob and Zelda themselves and to them all I can say is I told you that we weren’t a team. We just had the same goal.
Well goals change.
You have your issues and I have mine.
Sorry.
Suddenly, the phone in his lap starts vibrating. The phone begins to speak.
*New Call from…..Amanda Matthews.*
The hand presses a button on the button pad.
“What the hell do you want?”
He barks into the reciever.
“Harold said I get a free call…please don’t be mad.”
Her voice was weak on the other side.
“Please don’t be mad? Don’t be mad? You started all this! You set me up to fall Mandi!”
You can hear his voice echo.
“I was angry at the time. But I don’t want this now.”
Her voice trembled with emotion.
“Oh….now that you’ve been kidnapped and forced to play dress up with Harold you suddenly don’t want all this? Figures.”
“Don’t be like that. I made one bad decision. But you can beat this. All you have to do is fight!”
“Yeah? Well what if I don’t want to fight Mandi?”
She gasps.
“What are you saying?”
“I’m saying that your screwed. I’m not going to bail you out Mandi. You made your bed, now lay in it.”
“You can’t leave me here. I don’t want to be here.”
She pleads with him.
“You should have thought of that before you made a deal with Homeless Harold. I mean, think of it this way at least now you’ll be far away from me and my mean wittle insults.”
“Are you really serious right now?”
“….as a heart attack.”
She was silent for a few moments.
“and to think…I actually thought you would care. I guess I was stupid.”
“I did care. A lot actually. More then you realized apparently. You hurt me Mandi. Worse then Maniac and Harold could ever hurt me.”
The camera finally starts to pan up to reveal Steve Awesome leaning against his car in some sort of parking lot. The phone pressed to his ear.
“I’m sorry.”
She said, her voice heavy with tears.
“I still love you.”
His soulless face cracked a bit when he herd those words. The remnants of the feelings he had for her.
“Well I don’t.”
*Click*
He hangs up the phone by tossing it across the parking lot! That’s when you notice the big arena in the background. The marquee said
“Cross Roads.
TONIGHT!”
Awesome just shrugs his shoulders and shakes his head.
“Everyman......eat your heart out."
And with that he gets in his car and drives away.
