OPENING
Well it’s that time again fans, another NCW pay per view is upon as and it happens to be one of the big ones, it’s Sovereign. That’s right it’s time we crowned another Gladiator! Another name will be added to the immortal list of people who have won this match. Who will it be that will join Dave Holland, Adam Knite, and Will Washington on that list? That’s what is so great about this match... anybody could win it, and wouldn’t it be something it were Mark Evil!? Talk about a shocker.
There was a ton of action on Collision and Trauma leading up to this show, in fact I'd dare say Collision leading up to this event was one of the most action packed shows of the year, anyway there is a lot to get into so lets just kick it off with the weekly poll shall we?
This past week I asked about the Coliseum match and it seems we got a bit of a mixed reaction to the big match, but at least most of the votes were given in the top tier of the choices so that's good. I don't know, myself I think this year might just be one of the best we've ever had, a lot of variables going in that really just grip me about it. Which I think being the biggest one the underdog story of one Mark Evil. So this week I'm going to see what you fans think.... who are you predicting to win the big match?
RECAP AND REVIEW
So the shows this week, like I said just a little bit above here... were fantastic. Just form top to bottom both shows really delivered for me and I really think Sovereign is going to be an amazing pay per view because of it.
:: TRAUMA ::
Oh man talk about action. We got to see another confrontation between Roxxxie and EMF after a big opening match between Crystal and Foxy Roxy. Foxy Roxy put up a hell of a fight but in the end she found her first loss in NCW and also it's rumored hasn't been offered a contract extension past her initial tryout. So that's kind of sad, she definitely showed talent. It was nice though to see Roxxxie taking up for herself.
Trauma's drama (like my rhyming skills?) wouldn't end there though, because our main event on that show turned into nothing but a brawl as DDK and Joe Everyman along with their respective partners Adam Knite and Lex Sense just couldn't stop from fighting long enough to let the match go on. It would have been awesome to see Everyman and Kanyon really take it to each other one on one, but I guess you just can't expect that in a feud like this.
The matches on Trauma were solid and the other action was very good, so overall Trauma did a great job this week, it's good seeing our second show really bringing out feuds and rivalries nnow and not everything trying to be packed onto Collision.
:: COLLISION ::
However... Collision is still the bread and butter show of this company and you can see why after a week like this. There were great matches, there was a ton of stories and emotions, and overall it was a fantastic show without a doubt.
First lets just get to it... I don't know how Rob and Falcon managed to contain themselves from just laying into each other, but I believe it has something to do with the fact that they've gone down this road so many times before. Rob for somebody who lost his X Championship earlier in the night thanks to the Young Guns was amazingly composed and showed a lot of restraint. I've said this before, but I think this has a lot to do with Zelda... she brings out the best in him. Speaking of Zelda... it's disgusting what Lex did to her... no reason you should ever hit a woman in that ring like that outside of a match. Sense is showing his colors here as a miserable human being and Joe Everyman is as well for being associated with him.
Now some matches... we had two huge upsets, Todd Williams for one continuing his streak and capturing the X Championship, but it was tainted by the help of Roberto Verona who apparently did so just so he would be next in line for a title shot, what a sad miserable little group those Young Guns have become. Then of course Mercedes Vargas... a friend of mine you could say, heehee, picked up a victory over our Women's World champion. Vargas is picking up some steam it seems, you ladies in the back might want to watch out.
Our oddest matches of the night though were our two special guest referee matches, but I don't think anybody expected those to be normal in any sense of the word. If you want to see the differences between Brad Kane and Chris Gardner just look at how they refereed these two matches. You can see the ultra competitor in Gardner and the down right cheap ass jerkyness of Brad Kane. It's a shame we didn't get a see a real Honor match between Jacobsen and Gardner since they are so much alike... it would've been five stars I bet.
Now finally.. Mark EFFIN Evil! Wow.. what a victory for that man, if you didn't catch it, Mark Evil picked up the victory by pinning Ander Carvetti in the main event. That's right... Mark Evil won the Collision Main Event for his team that consisted of Steve Awesome and Paul Star. That dude has been on a freaking roll since he came back. If you were one of those people who thought “oh Mark Evil, he doesn't stand a chance in the Coliseum” then you're out of your mind... he just showed you that he could pick up that victory just as easily as anybody else could.
So anyway, Collision was incredible, one of the best Collisions I've seen in a long time. Trent coming out and getting a measure of revenge, seeing a champion crowned and seeing some real rivalries heating up just made this show an A+ for me.
HIGH POINTS
:: Trent Helms answers – Trent had his chance at Coliseum greatness taken from him and then he had his pride insulted as Simon said there was no chance Trent would show up for a match or even to do anything about him, but man was Daye wrong when not only did Helms show up, he accepts Simon's challenge and gives Willy a BioShock for good measure. It was awesome.
:: Mark Evil victory – Wow... can anybody honestly say they saw this coming? Mark Evil standing in the center of the ring with every other Coliseum entrant laying around him as the sole victor. It was surreal in a way. Mark Evil has been busting his arse lately to get back into NCW and make his Mark and it's totally done that. He may just run away with the most improved award at the end of the year, which would be a great sight to see.
LOW POINTS
:: Venom's Antics – Isn't it cute how after I say he's a decent guy he goes out of his way to try and play the part of “mega jerk”.. blah blah blah blah blah. Now who is looking like the hurt little boy who lost his bestest friend? Poor baby.
:: Brad Kane – What a douchebag, couldn't even let the match play out at all huh? Just couldn't stop being a douchebag for 10 minutes huh? Congratulations Brad Kane, I hope you're forced to leave town.
THE FAB FIVE
5:: RICKY JOHNSON:: He picked up a huge victory against Roberto Verona this week in what might be considered an upset considering how great Verona has been lately since he joined NCW. It was a huge victory for him.
4:: ZELDA KNITE:: We haven't gotten totally sick of hearing her name being mentioned in these Fab Five lists have we? It was a great match.. a match that then turned to what could have been disastrous as Lex Sense jumped off the apron, but she managed to turn it around and pick up the victory regardless.
3:: MERCEDES VARGAS:: Hey, she picked up the victory over the Women's Champion and that's never an easy thing to accomplish. She did a great job and it could propel her into a shot against whoever steps out of Sovereign with the belt.
2:: TODD WILLIAMS:: Well I don't really have to describe this do I? Despite the fact he got an assist he still put up a hell of a fight and he was still right there until the very end. It was a great job from him.
1:: MARK EVIL:: I'm pretty sure I described this well enough already. The biggest win in Mark Evil's career since he was the NCW champion for about 15 seconds before the match got restarted.
PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS
LAST WEEK'S RECORD:: 11-3 :: HELL YEAH. How do you like that? Take a long good look people, that's what you call predicting. I'm becoming a master of it in case you were wondering.
OVERALL RECORD:: 107-40 :: You looking at that? Dang... I could of held off 40 one more week if I would of just gotten one more match right. Oh well, that's still impressive, admit it.
:: WIRED ::
Singles match
Damien Collins vs. Bukkake Man
Tag Team Match
The Internationals vs Bad Luck Chuck & Recklessly Happy
Women's Battle Royal
Mercedes Vargas vs. Nexus vs. Kathleen Conway vs Alysson Gardner vs. Stephanie Sullivan v. Mercedes Lewis
HONOR TITLE #1 CONTENDER
Three Way Match
Demetrious Young vs. Ricky Johnson vs. Scorpion
:: SOVEREIGN ::
Xtreme Match
Hexx vs. Spyke
:: Like this isn't going to be the easiest match on the card to judge? I'm proud of Hexx for seemingly finally growing a pair but come on, it's the real Spike kane we're talking about.. hall of famer. Hexx doesn't stand a chance
Winner: Spyke (the real one)
Tag Team Match
Venom and Freakke vs. Xavier Cross and Andrew Jacobsen
:: This is a tough one, you've got more National champions on one side of the ring compared to the other, but Jacobsen and Cross are not slouches at all. Should make for an interesting match.
Winners: Cross and Jacobsen
Grudge Match
Todd Williams vs. Roberto Verona
:: A rematch from a few weeks ago, the difference this time around is that Todd Williams is the X Champion, but that has no bearing on this match, and that Verona is now a part of the young Guns. I want to go with Todd here, but I don't know Verona wouldn't of handed Williams the title belt if he didn't have a plan
Winner: Roberto Verona
Grudge Match
Simon Daye vs. Trent Helms
:: I've known Trent for far too long not to notice when he's dead serious about something and he's dead serious about ending Simon Daye on Sovereign... that match against Steve meant a lot to him and you're going to see a much different side of Trent.
Winner: Trent Helsm
Tag Team Match
EMF vs. Cat Lady and Tommy The Cat
:: Well, I take what I said about the Spyke match back. If that match is easy to pick, this one is a no brainer. No disrespect meant towards the Cat Lady... but she doesn't have what it takes to win this match especially not with Tommy the Cat on her side.
Winners: EMF
Grudge Match
Trish Newborn vs. Roxxxie
:: Should be one of the biggest matches on the show with the history these two have had with one another in such a short time span. They very well could just rip each other apart and leave us looking for a new Women's champion. Newborn has been bested by Roxxxie three times in a row now... this better be the time it takes to put Roxxxie away.
Winner: Trish Newborn
Loser Leaves Town Street Fight
Chris Gardner vs. Brad Kane
:: Chris Gardner has been put through a lot because of Brad kane, his emotions are going to be running high, but this is a match that Brad Kane is used to. Brad Kane is going to have the edge because of the match type, but I see Gardner overcoming it, he has to.
Winner: Chris Gardner
Hardcore Match
EverySense vs. Knitely Bangs*
:: Well you can't fault Sense and Everyman for trying, because hey... sometimes you have to do what it takes to get your name noticed and to get your shot. However, Knitely Bangs are a pretty dominate team, I don't see Everyman and Sense pulling this one out...
Winners: Knitely Bangs
Singles Match
Rob Diamond vs. Falcon*
:: This might be even harder to judge than the Coliseum match if truth be told. I could easily see either man walking out of Sovereign with the World title over their shoulders. I could easily see any outcome.. it's literally a toss up. I'm going to side with Rob just because I think he's hungrier than Falcon, he's been waiting for this moment for a long time and it's finally here.
Winner: Rob Diamond
THE COLISEUM
Steve Awesome vs. Paul Star vs. Ander Carvetti vs. Xander Famularo vs. Mark Evil vs. Alex Jones
:: This is a match that is solely set up to where anybody can win, it only takes one pinfall and it if the stars align it only takes sneaking in and stealing it away. Steve is the only person in this match who has been World champion before. Paul Star and Alex Jones are returning entrants and have been in this thing before, while Mark Evil picked up the win in the six man tag match this week. There is no telling where this match will go. I'm going to step out on a limb... this match is about making stars so I'm going to pick somebody who hasn't been there before... and will stake his claim on greatness here.
Winner: Xander Famularo
WHAT TO KEEP AN EYE ON
:: ROB DIAMOND :: I've been saying this a lot about him... but he's finally getting that chance. He's been wanting it, begging for it for so long. He's been on the top of the rankings, he's been a hair away several times but it's finally here, he finally has that chance to hold a world title up in front of his brother's face and say that he's finally arrived... it's only fitting he'll have to go through Falcon to do it.
:: ROXXXIE vs. TRISH NEWBORN :: These two have fought so many times over the past few months that I've barely kept count. They are going to beat the hell out of each other and there isn't going to be a ref in the world who is going to be able to separate them once they start tearing into each other. It's going to be a great match to see.
:: SPYKE :: He's not only fighting for his name, he's fighting for his entire history. If he loses this match, he's not Spike Kane, he's not in the Hall of Fame, he's not anything if he doesn't beat Hexx this Sunday. There is going to be a lot of emotion coming out of Spyke this week, I wouldn't want to be on the opposite side of the ring.
:: BRAD KANE vs. CHRIS GARDNER :: Two men who couldn't find any other way to settle their differences outside of ridding NCW of the other. Two men who aren't fighting for a title, two men who are just wanting to hurt the other. It's going to be a match that you will not want to miss, you'll regret seeing this amazing show put on by these two.
THE KNITELINE
Timothy Moore; Southampton, England
Joe Everyman: great jobber, or the GREATEST jobber?
:: Well there is one thing Joe Everyman can be proud of ... -Points to Jimmy Turner- He's not that guy.
Hump-free Gaga; Some Giant Egg Somewhere
Kelly, my question for you is... will Andrew Jacobson ever lose his virginity? I hear rumors of others in the back making fun of him because he still has his V-Card all the time.
:: I'm pretty sure he lost it to Jaymie Boone if he hasn't already to Zelda, I'm telling you.. they did it.
Box Of Sweet N Low Packets - Inside a Ihop resturant.
Hello Kelly, remember me, How come I haven't gotten a guest hall of a fame spot, for the greatest match of all time, against Davey Boone, But seriously....Simon Daye, while he may be a good wrestler, do you think he even has a chance against a person, many people consider to be one of the top five wrestlers in the world in Trent Helms, and if not, how long do you give Simon before he gets a Close Encounter?
:: You know I wouldn't put it past Simon to give Trent a run for his money. Simon isn't some dumb kid walking in off the streets, he's been training and waiting to get into an NCW ring for years. However, Trent should win.
Marianne G. - Beaumont, California
With Christian Gardner set to be future-endeavoured in 6 days' time, what do you think it will be of the Honor Championship? Do you think Brad Kane would make a good champion? Not going to ask "a better champion than Gardner" because he's the worst choke artist to ever disgrace the industry.
:: IF Gardner loses, which I don't think he will, the Honor title will be vacated.. now how it will be decided who gains the championship after that? I don't know, nor do I know if they'll even continue the belt, but it shouldn't even be something to worry about.
Alison, Tombstone, Arizona
Congratulations must go out to Todd Williams this week, his fine run of form has seen him capture the X-Championship from Rob Diamond. However, what on earth was Roberto Verona doing helping him win it? Something isn't quite right in that guys head.
:: It's gotta be due to him wanting a shot at the belt, he felt it was the only way he was going to get there, he couldn't see Todd Williams losing that match and Rob Diamond going on to win the world title.
Stephen Graham; Knoxville, TN
What's the strangest thing a fan has ever said to you?
:: I had a fan asking if they could have an ultrasound photo of Ryleigh... that was way strange.
Christina Rose Hilton Williams - Lopez , Emf Productions, Hollywood California
So when are us Los Angeles Girls going to go on a shopping spree on Rodeo drive? Wouldn't you like to spend the day with your sister's best friend??? BTW I am not Bargain Bin material!!!
:: Didn't we hang out not too long ago? Maybe we should take Zelda though, she is rich just like us now, we really could show her how great it is to have all that power and money heehee. By the way, no offense... but your movies suck.
Trent Helms - Parts Unknown
Kelly, I just want to say, I'm sorry for what you will have to witness on Sunday...*click*
:: You in a speedo? I've seen that, remember our trip to Cabo?
Roxxxie, Juneau, Alaska
What is the best way to defeat EMF as well as Trish?
:: Just go out there and stick to your game plan and your wrestling style, just give it your all without letting them bother you. I know Zelda for one capitalizes a lot on when others think she is done for and give her an opening, don't take your eyes off the goal.
Steve Ortiz, El Paso, Texas
Well Kelly my question is this, what is the likelihood of EverySense and Knitely Bangs killing each other?... And I mean really murdering one another? I have been watching this feud develop and I must say that the lengths these two teams will go to get the upper hand is exciting. Are you worried at all at what may happen this Sunday?
:: I think it's going to be one of the bloodiest Hardcore matches ever. I honestly do. A lot of hate right now between these four men. I'm not worried about Adam, I've seen him wrestle for the past 10 years... nothing gets to me anymore.
Michael Kane, Birmingham, England.
Hey Kelly, I've been a fan of nCw since it started, and at Sovereign we have one of the most heated World Title matches in the history of nCw and maybe even the careers of both Falcon and Rob. My question is, what are your top five World Title fueds, and which do you think was the most violent?
:: Top five huh? Had to make it tough I see... 5: Adam Knite vs. Alex Jones 4: DDK vs. Philip Burns 3: Charlie Velez vs. Falcon 2: Spike Kane vs. Lance Ryan 1: Angel vs. Gib
And I've gotta say... Angel versus Gib was likely the most violent series of matches I've ever seen.
Gib from Oswego
Kelly, I need some loving. Will you hook me up with one of your hit friends? I will be good, I promise.
:: I can hook you up with Jaymie Boone? Does that work?
CLOSING THOUGHTS
:: Can't wait to see the Coliseum match. 2 out of 3 winners of it though have went on and lost the World championship match at ANTR... just goes to show you how hard it is to capture that belt.
:: Despite Venom's best efforts, the Young Guns still seem like 3 different people looking for 3 different goals.
:: It's going to be interesting to hear what Roberto Verona has to say about his actions this week.
:: Equally it's going to be interesting to see Trent Helms responses this week. Been a long time since I've seen him like this.
:: You know what is just adorable? Seeing Rob and Zelda together, they are just adorable.. reminds me of me and Adam. Speaking of Zelda... no news on the rumors that she might be expecting... I'd just take them as rumors for now.
:: But if she is... I'll totally take her place as the Starlets Tag Team Champion in EMF. I'm that nice of a person.
:: Todd Williams might be the whitest X Champion yet.
:: I'm ready to see the real Spike Kane being labeled as Spike Kane again. Been way too long.
Well fans, that's all I have for you today, I hope you enjoyed it and until next time...
