The scene starts with a long gloomy hallway. Each side of the hallway is lined with steel bars. The feel is cold an damp as the camera moves down the hall. An unfamiliar sound breaks the silence. Followed by a crowd moaning. The camera turns to see a disgusted and cold looking Chris Cooper sitting in one of the cages. He is unkempt and dirty looking the rags he wears as clothes are soiled. He has a tin plate sitting in front of him, with half a sandwich sitting on it, on a rough wooden table. He looks despondent The cage opens as a priest walks in and administers a prayer.
Chris: Father John, can I ask you something.
Father John: Sure. What is it?
Chris: Why am I here? How did I get here. I am not stupid enough to not understand where I am and what my fate will be. Why?
Father John: Chris, everyone pays for their sins in one way or another. What you have done cannot be taken back and is a mortal sin. If by some chance you are innocent of these atrocities the good lord will relinquish your sins. This I am sur3e of.
Father John walks out of the cage as Chris sits with his head in his hands. He quickly runs through the life he’s led. He ponders where he has gone wrong.
A crying violin begins to slowly play as the warden comes to the door of Chris’ cell with two guards. Chris looks up.
Warden: Your time has run out son.
Chris stands as all four men walk down the hallway towards a large wooden door.
The sound of a door flapping with a crowd moaning Chris hangs his head as the Warden chuckles.
“What happened to my life? Twenty eight years of crime and misdoings have come to this. I was raised to be a criminal. My Dad and my Uncle. Damn. Somebody once said life is short. They don’t know anything about it. My life will be taken today for what I do not know. I was so drunk that night I don’t remember what happened. All I know is that I have been blamed for a man’s death of which I know nothing. If I did it God forgive me. Forgive these sinners Lord. For they know not what they do. As far as I know I am truly innocent. Is it fair to convict a man for something he truly did not know he did?
The four men are at the end of that hallway, They walk through the large wooden door. Chris sets his eyes on the large wooden gallows that will be his end. The guards are still cutting down the last victim of the age old method as the hangman is creating another murderer. The men walk down the stairs and up onto the gallows. The crowd’s thirst for blood causes them to go wild. The crowd cheers wildly upon sight of the gallows next victim.
Warden: Do you have any last words Cooper.
Chris: I do not deserve to die for something I did not do. How you convict a man for something he is not aware he did? Execute my sub-conscience please. You cannot convict a retard because he does not understand what he does. He doesn’t get the effects of his actions. He is none the wiser as am I. You execute today an innocent man. All of you shall suffer the same fate. You all cheer as the trap door opens. It is sick. I will see each and every one of you in hell!
The crowd begins to pelt Chris with tomatoes. He give the crowd the finger as the hangman places the noose over Chris’ neck. A priest quickly waves a cross in front of Chris. The hangman places a black sack over Cooper’s head as Chris chuckles.
Warden: This man has been convicted of murder in the state of Texas. His death has been warranted by the state. Today we carry out this warrant. To hell with this piece of rubbish.
Chris: **ck You!
The sound of the trap door swinging open is heard.
[glow=red,2,300]BANG![/glow]
Chris awakes in a puddle of his own sweat in bed. He quickly sits up and tries to gather himself. He walks out of the room as not to wake Beth. He then walks through the kitchen and out the sliding glass doors on the back of his Houston home. He grabs a pack of Marlboro lights off the table on his deck and lights one up. He leans against the railing.
“I cannot let this series of nightmares disrupt my own dreams. This week I make my debut in the NCW. Also my triumphant return to wrestling. Regardless of all the other things happening in my life right now this takes precedence over everything. This is my life and it becomes what I make out of it. I cannot allow anyone to stand in my way. My opponent is Shawn Savage. I don’t know much about him. Just as he doesn’t know anything about me. This will level the playing field. Not that I need that“.
Chris drags on his cigarette.
“I must remember that to these people I am nothing more than a nuance. Nobody will cheer when I came out, they will probably boo and hiss. That won’t effect me either. Once I step into that ring nothing else matters. Savage, I have no reason to dislike you. It’s just unfortunate for you that NCW put you in my path. I will not hold anything back or have mercy. I will empty my tank until my hand is raised. That is the bottom line. Good luck to you.
Chris flicks his cigarette into the yard and walks back into the house.
Chris: Father John, can I ask you something.
