We open in the backyard of the Chicago home of The Chi-Town Terror, JackHammer . The camera doesn't really get much of a chance to look at how well the flower beds are doing, though they're looking magnificent if you actually care. In the night time, you can't see that a nice looking swing set and sandbox have been set up for the kids of JackHammer and his wife, Angel, to play on while they're on this end of the country. And the position the camera's at, it's impossible to see through the sliding glass window that leads to the small patio. Instead, we're focused on , who sits in a patio chair not too far from a wheelchair that's been converted into a rather handy plant stand.
There's a bit of a smile on the wrestling veteran's face as he looks at the camera. The light's dim, but we can still see a few of the scars on his face and forehead from the brutal battles he's waged over the course of his career. He runs his hand through his hair as he begins to speak to the camera.
JackHammer: You know... When I first singled out Seth Evans and DDK out of every member of the NCW roster to go after, there was a reason for that. No, I don't think he is the most dangerous out of all of them, but he is a danger to himself. Not just because of his fondness for calling himself a big fish, because let's face it, he's more like a fish out of water. He continues to consider himself this. And, time and time again, I'll continue to consider myself a big shark in this small pond we're in. And he'll continue to talk about how average I am, and I'll just be me. Looking back at all that, sh*t, it was to the point that even I realized I needed to stand up and do something. But as this whole thing has drug on, I realized that... that my initial perception of Seth Evans and DDK was dead wrong. As far as I'm concerned, Seth Evans and DDK are a cople of fu*kin' dumba*s.
JackHammer shakes his head before continuing.
JackHammer: Seth Evans blasts me, calling me average and saying that I am a few wins above what he'd called 'jobberific'. He thinks I'm only here because I refuse to give up and go home. Hell... I'm more than willing to admit my faults. Yeah, I like the glory and the money and the excitement. Hell, I'm probably earning more money just sitting down in front of the camera for a few short minutes than Seth Evans will make all month. But you know WHY I like this so much? I like it because when it's time for me to walk away from this business; truly time to walk away and call it quits, I don't have to come crawling back for a paycheck because I've pissed it all away. I don't have to miss piano recitals, soccer games, school plays or whatever the hell my kids decide they want to do with their lives while I'm on the road beating my brains in to make sure they're provided for. When the time comes for them to go to college and take all the steps they need to take to become a better person than me, I'll be able to write them a check for where ever they want to go, whether it's Harvard or Dungawunga Community College. I like this feeling because I can go to sleep every night knowing that between me and Angel, our kids will NEVER have to worry about where their next meal will come from. That's a da*n good feeling, Ken...
But then again, you don't understand that. And that's really where the whole hypocracy of you really comes in. You accuse me of saying that I'm nothing more than a bottomfeeder, but you're truly nothing more of the same. The only difference is that you can't seem to grasp where I'm coming from, but I do understand where you're coming from. You forget, Seth Evans... There was a time where I wasn't a champion in this business as a whole. There was a time where I was just a hungry rookie trying to make a name for himself. I know what it's like, busting your ass trying to get to the World Title so you can look at everyone and say you're the best. I understand the idea of the thrill of competition and the rush that comes from a close match. But while you engross yourself in the idea of proving that I'm only a mudcat, I learned early on in my NCW career there was more to life than wrestling. Devastation Inc. wasn't just the grouping that launched my career, it's where I met my closest friend and the people that I, at one time, thought I'd be sharing all of this with. It didn't work out and we're all happier for it, but the fact remains that relationship with those four spurred me on to greater things. To try and win back my sanity, I went to war in another fed with another close friend, Dark Prophet, and I may not have beaten him, but I learned something from him, which is a win either way. And while that relationship ended, I met the guys here in the UWA and the rest is history. But go buy yourself a Best of the NWA DVD, Seth Evans... You'll see my matches with the ring veterans over there and I fought them to protect myself. Are you sensing a pattern?
JackHammer pauses, almost as if he's waiting for response.
JackHammer: Of course not. See, that's where I misjudged you, Seth Evans... I looked at you as a student of the game. I figured you soaked up every bit of knowledge you could. I mean, hell, I won't lie... You know the playbook on me and you know exactly how to beat me. You can use your wrestling skill to take advantage of my injuries over the years and beat me when we square off. I look at that and figure you had pretty much prepped yourself to be the one to take me out. You're younger, you're healthier, you're faster. The only thing I have going for me is the fact that I've got more experience in this game than you can imagine. I've beaten the best and lost to the worst; it's all a part of this crazy ass game we're stuck playing. I'm not above cheating to win, Seth Evans, DDK... I won't deny it and I won't put myself on that higher moral plane like some do. Which, by the way, makes you look REALLY bad when you say that while I was compiling an 'average' career in the NCW, you were main eventing shows elsewhere. Like anyone actually gives a flying rat's a*s.
JackHammer runs his hand through his hair, laughing a little bit.
JackHammer: I mean, come on. If you really think that any one of us who have accomplished quite a bit here in the NCW actually gives a rat's a*s about who you have and have not beaten in some other half-a*sed promotion, then you may have entered the wrong profession, my friend. Experience is key, but what you've done elsewhere means nothing. Don't tout something that means nothing. I certainly don't care about what championships you've won anywhere else, because the bottom line is that you have not beaten me here... and if I have my way this week, you never will. I think you may have bitten off more than you can chew.
So that's why I call bullsh*t on you, Seth Evans and DDK. I call bullsh*t on you because everything you do seems to go against the grain of wanting and living for pure competition and instead it jives more with going along with moving you further and further up to the hall of fame in the NCW: the one place you'll never, ever be. The hall of fame is for the elite. Not the second-rate.
The smile on JackHammer's face widens a little bit as he continues.
JackHammer: And that's why I will do what I will do come Nothing to Lose. See, your words kind of stung a bit, what with you calling me average. I've never once considered myself 'the best' or anything such, but you sure as hell seem to think highly of yourself. How conceited of you, and yet, at the same time, I'm not surprised. You're just another in a long line of up-you-own-a*s egomaniacs who believe you're the incarnation of perfection in some third-rate body sent to take out these second-rate bumblefu*ks. Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Seth Evans, DDK, but not even the luck of Las Vegas could save you from the a*s-beating you're about to receive. You want to be this big fish, well I think it's about time I played fisherman and reeled you in, hook, line and sinker. If you plan on being this hotshot and big deal, then you'd better be prepared to play on the top level all the time. If you don't beat me, which let's face it, you won't, how can anyone here take you seriously? Easily. They already don't.
JackHammer laughs a little bit before continuing.
JackHammer: Now, I know you're going to get pissed and you're going to want to get payback on me for what I've said to far. Bring whatever you want to me, Seth Evans, DDK. You can kick my butt, you can say what you want about me, that's fine. I've fought through things far worse than you can think of. Because eventually, Seth Evans, DDK... It'll come to you and me in the ring. And I'll prove that while I don't have all that much in the tank any more, while my injuries are slowing me down more and more, while I may not have your speed and youth... I'll prove once again that heart, bloodlust, and a horde of screaming fans will ALWAYS overcome the pinnacle of talent. And there ain't a da*n thing you can do about it. Trust me.
With that, JackHammer dismisses the camera. He rises to his feet off his patio chair and walks towards the sliding glass door, where the sounds of Spongebob and children laughing can be heard as we fade to black.
