Sunday Night Collision
18th September 2011
18th September 2011
~Venom reaches out for the ropes, using his sheer upper body strength to pull himself closer. Bates wrenches down harder, but everytime he shifts his grip Venom inches closer to a rope break. Venom reaches out and grabs the ropes. Bates holds on, but breaks the hold at so close to five it isn't even funny. Bates backs off to let Venom up, then grabs him, trying to lock in a full nelson. But Venom spins, and spikes Bates down with a snap DDT. He rolls him over for the cover. 1...2... Kickout at 2. Venom pulls Kris to his feet, but Bates snaps off a couple jabs and grabs V for a vertical suplex, but Venom resists, shoving Kris away. Venom charges for a clothesline but Bates ducks under it. Venom springs off the middle rope, twisting in midair and nailing a missle dropkick.
Eric Hardy: Looks like Venom has the momentum again, Bates needs another dodge to counteract it, and fast.
Willy Carter: Just sit back and wait for an opening.
Venom steps through the ropes, springing in for a guilotine leg drop, but Bates second guesses him, rolling underneath the move. He stands up, pleased with himself, unaware that Venom landed on his feet instead. Venom grabs Bates from behind, locks in the double Arm Cross and nails the Xed Out cross armed German Suplex!
Eric Hardy: Xed Out! I think I smell the end being near!
Kelly Knite: That's just Willy's lunch aroma..
Eric Hardy: ...Gross Kel.
Kelly Knite: But funny..
Venom leans over, hooks the leg for the cover. 1....2....3!!!
Eric Hardy: Venom wins it! Bates is a great wrestler and a master technician, but Venom found the speed to counter it, and comes away with a victory.
Kelly Knite: If there was a case to be made for Venom in the World Title scene, this may just be a part of it.
Eric Hardy: Truer words have rarely been spoken. We'll be back with more wrestling action, right after this...~
*With Venom celebrating on the screen, the scene pans out to show former nCw World Champion, The Ace with his hands on his hips as the crowd can be heard cheering in the background, as he nods, but his expression betrays nothing. Truly a practiced and rehearsed poker face to the last.
The Ace then turns and walks out of his locker-room and walks dow the corridor when he meets Leonard Fox coming the other way...*
Fox: Good job warming up the crowd tonight, Jake in one of the most viewed Web Matches we've ever had...
The Ace: I can't lie, it felt damn good to get a win over the current Honor Champion and show him that this slow, old man still has a few more races to win left in him...onwards and upwards, as they say...my only question is who are you going to put me against at Battlegrounds?
Fox: Well, who do you want to face?
The Ace: You mean you're going to let me choose my own opponent?
Fox: Sure, why not? After an impressive outing like that against one of our fastest rising stars and most popular superstars, you've earned it...
The Ace: Well, when you put it like that, there's only one answer....Venom.
Fox: Consider it done.
With a simple nod, the two men part ways and The Ace has a smile on his face.
The scene opens with The Ace standing infront of a simple white wall, in a T-Shirt and blue jeans, with his arms folded across his chest.
Venom...let me start off by saying, you don't need to apologise to me sunshine. This is America, this is the land of the free and the home of the brave, and you're free to make whatever comments you want about me, and you're obviously brave enough to stand by them. I'd like to say I respect that - I'd like to, I really would, but then I realise that the respect I have for you is not mutual or returned, so why should I?
Now V, don't get me wrong, I'm not about to break out random wrestling cliche number 364 and say I'm going to beat some respect into you for the disrespect you showed me two weeks ago. If you don't respect me, that's your choice, you aren't the first nor will you be the last in a long line of people who have not achieved even half of what I have here in nCw and yet still feel they have a right to unzip their pants and take a leak over all my accomplishments.
Honestly, if I lost it every time some jumped up piddly ass took it upon themselves to try and drag my name and reputation through the mud just to get a cheap laugh, I would't be solving my problems with pinfalls and submissions but rather knives and guns. Speaking of guns, how can I not use this opportunity to segue into a brief talk about the group you're so proud of leading - the Young Guns. Don't worry Venom, I'll keep it brief since I wouldn't want to deprive you of talking endlessly all week about the one and only reason anybody in nCw even remembers you exist and just came back from a knee injury prematurely.
When you made your grand return to an nCw ring a few weeks back, I know half the audience were turning to the person next to them and asking 'Who is he?' whilst the other half were explaining 'That's the guy who lead Young Guns'. Lead them to where, I don't exactly know, unless it was obscurity...but then you'll say it wasn't me and I'll have Shaggy stuck in my head all day.
*The Ace grins, shaking his head*
So, I guess I'll concede that it wasn't entirely your fault the Guns ran out of ammo without you, Venomous darts and all no doubt, but I will say, the nCw version of the Guns was less a storm and more a fart in a jaccuzi. I was around for the original Guns, when you, Mueller and Velez really were kicking up a storm and ruling that other company, and back in those days I was just a young rookie trying to find my way - and you buried me, you made me just another Casualty To Society in minutes. It was probably the easiest title defense you had because I was unprepared, I was afraid and I was out of my league going up against the juggernaut you were in those days...
Nowadays though, not so much.
You've lost your sting to me, you no longer inspire fear in me, only pity. Look at you man, look at how far you've fallen, now you're not some legend here in nCw like you were in that other place, you're just a guy who was signed to try and make lightning strike twice with Young Guns V 2....and even more tragically, you don't even have that anymore. The Venom I'm facing at Battlegrounds has lost his potency, now you're just some dude with a bum knee who didn't have the patience to come back at 100 percent so came back at what? 50 per cent maybe, 75 if we're being generous?
I know what you're thinking V...
"50 percent is still more than enough to beat you, Jake..."
And you know something? For your sake V, I hope it is, because if it isn't, all of the fans who are expecting us to tear it up out there are going to be disappointed. I didn't request this match with you because I want or need your respect V, but because I want and need theirs. I want and need the respect of the nCw fans, I need them to believe in me again, and the only way I know how to get their respect is to lace up my boots, step throught that curtain, walk down the ramp, step into the ring with you and give them a damn good show.
So, what do you say, V?
Let's go out there on Sunday Night and give the people one of the greatest matches that hasn't yet happened, unless of course your proud of that one moment in that other place that is no longer relevant. See V, for all your talk of being a bully, I'm not really buying it - you've got me figured all wrong, I'm not about to bait you into a three on one situation with Steve and Kristoff, because frankly I don't need to, and what's more I've already been there, done that...
*The Ace uncrosses his arms to reveal an old Corporate Empire logo across his T-Shirt...*
...and got the T-Shirt. The days of running around in stables and playing the numbers to my advantage are behind me, I requested this match purely because as far as I'm concerned we're pretty much on even money right now. Since our respective returns to the ring, we've both won some and lost some, we both want to find our way back to the top of our game, and last week you beat the former Honor Champion while I beat the current one...
So to me it just made sense that we should face off.
You want to prove your worth to nCw, then what better way to do it than to take on a former World Champion in a match that seemingly is just a card filler because we have no real build up, no heart tugging emotional conflict and no weeks of trying to upstage each other hyping this match for us. Let's prove why we are veterans of the game and why we deserve our spot at the top back. We don't need the nCw Creative Team to write a script for us. The story we tell in between those ropes at Battlegrounds will be a simple one, told by veterans and we'll do it all not through acting out segments, but by doing what we do best, wrestling...
And I for one cannot wait.
