This entire week, everybody has been talking about some of the advantages and disadvantages that they have. Some have been talking more about what they believe to be an advantage... example, Jason had this estranged belief that his power was going to favor him in this match when he failed to note that this match isn't truly going to take place on the ground, but he focuses on lifting more weights. Jason, I've stepped into the ring with you before... as you know... and the only thing that I can say is that nothing has changed about you. You don't prepare for the type of match that you're going to go into --- you just prepare for the match the only way that you know how. Turning up your walkman, because you can't get out of the '80s, and lifting weights.
Wrestling isn't your thing, Jason.
I think you should look into American Gladiators.
I'm truly not worried about you... because you're not even prepared for the right match.
For this type of match, I have limited disadvantages. No doubt about it, one disadvantage... is power... Xander has that power, and it does help him out a little bit. He can knock us out and get across those ropes to take the X Title --- but here's where it falters, he doesn't exactly have the speed behind him... by the time that he knocks us all out, one of us will be up. One of us will be there to stop him from grabbing the title. He has been working on it, though, so I know that he has a good chance at winning...
I didn't think of very many disadvantages that I had, because this match does favor people who wrestle to my style. However, something has come up that Caleb brought up --- he's faster... I will have to do everything that I can to keep him from getting out of reach, because it will be the only the way that I can stop him from capturing the X-Title.
Technical? I don't even have that. The reason that I say that is Gjenrei... the guy practices in martial arts, and those guys are as technical as they come. Calculating. Calm. You know how they are...
But you see, those three people stand out with their one trait. One with power, one with speed, and one with technical skill. I can do it all! I can go in that ring, I can show you some of my power... granted, I'm not going to be going out there and dropping people for a powerbomb, or a stalling vertical suplex, but I've got some of my own moves. I might not be the fastest, but as people know that when I get in that ring, I am fast... before you can blink, I'll already be in your face. And I'm not saying that I don't value the technical skill, because, in my mind, that's what truly wins matches... that's why I value my own technical abilities inside of the ring, it's what would allow me to beat a man like Xander Famularo if this were a standard match. That's why I try to keep calm, and I try to calculate all my attacks.
I'm the balance.
Between all of those.
The fact that I have the agility behind me, that's really what's going to get me to rip that title down... and become the X Champion... because I will get to it faster than three others in that ring, and I just have to hope that one guy that will go across faster than me is out of the picture. There's something else that people have noticed of me that they don't like, but it's something that I do... because it's my belief that there are certain types of fighters out there and you should be skilled with all of them. But this one is just too much fun.
Aggressive.
I am aggressive when I go into that ring, and I don't easily let up... I'm not going to burn myself out, I'm not going to wear myself down, but I'm going to play aggressively to keep my opponents off their feet. To keep my back out of the corner. To keep them from putting pressure on me, and keep them on their guard.
I play aggressive.
There's one more thing that does favor me...
My mentor.
Alex Jones.
He has probably the most experience in these types of matches, he knows how to win them... and over the last week, I have been working with him, nonstop, to ensure that I'm prepared for this match. To ensure that I can walk out of this match as the brand new X Champion, and that target that was on the back of Xander Famularo --- will be placed on my back...
I thrive on having that target on my back.
I want that target on my back.
Call me an attention whore...
But I want it. I live for it. I will have it.
{The scene opens up inside of the training center where Seth has been training for the last week, and he is dressed a little more casually this time... fresh. It appears that he hasn't even been training today since it was the final day before the event, and it was important to get a little bit of rest and relaxation. He's looking at the ropes above the ring that form the famous "X" for the Assault X. His eyes are locked on a replica belt that is hanging in place of the X Championship, that currently was being worn around the waist of Xander Famularo. The defending champion this Sunday. While standing in the ring, he looked over his shoulder to see if anyone had been coming up... he heard the faint footsteps, and it was revealed to be Kiela. She stepped between the ropes to get inside the ring.}
Kiela:
"What are you doing here?"
Seth:
"Just thinking."
{He says while turning his attention back to the replica belt. A smile on his face, a thought that was very true in his mind... a thought that tomorrow, he could really be holding the X Championship above his head, and be announced the winner. The new X Champion. She walked up beside him and she took a brief glance at the title then at Seth, because she didn't have the same desire that Seth had to be a champion, or to be a wrestler.}
Kiela:
"Don't you think it's time that you get some rest?"
{He didn't know what to say. Deep down, he knew that there was no way that Xander could be resting... there was no way that even Jason Evans could be resting, so he didn't know if he should. Part of him wanted to continue preparing for the match up until it was time for Battle Grounds to start.}
Kiela:
"Come on, Seth... you've been training all week..."
{She says, while grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the apron of the ring... he allows himself to be taken towards the apron of the ring, but his eyes linger a moment longer where the belt will hang.
Kiela:
"You need to relax."
{Seth turns his head towards Kiela, and smiles.}
Seth:
"You're right. And tomorrow... I'll be the X Champion."
{Seth holds the ropes open for Kiela, as she steps out of the ring and Seth is right behind her... both of them walk towards the exit of the training center as the scene fades.}
Motivation... what's my motivation going in to this match? Why do I believe that I have a chance at winning this match? Not just have a chance, but have the biggest chance at winning the X Championship? I don't want to stumble back down and tell people because I'm that damn good. Even if I may feel that way. I can't go off and say that I'm the most experienced guy, and that's why I'll be the one walking out as the new champion --- because I'm not.
So...
What motivates me?
What is it that keeps me determined?
I have to have this. I have to have the X Championship, and I have to do it... this Sunday... I have to prove to the world that I can still win these big ones, and that these matches that I've been winning. This bit of a 'hot streak' that I've found isn't just hot air, but it's a start. It was me pressing that reset button, and starting fresh.
Xander, you're going to be a great player in the future... you're going to help pave the way for the future, and I hope you know... that I will be there, I will also help pave the future for this company and this industry.
What motivates me is the future... looking ahead and knowing that I can be the World Champion, someday, I can be in the Hall of Fame, someday. But I have to start somewhere! This is that somewhere, and no matter what anybody thinks... no matter what anyone believes... I will win that X Championship, and I will hold it with pride. I'm not going to try to drop it the moment I win it to move on to bigger and better things. I'm going to hold onto it as long as I possibly can, and make everyone remember my name. When they think of the X Championship, Xander Famularo... he might be one face that immediately comes to the minds of people, knowing that he would be a great former X Champion. But my face is going to come to the mind of everyone, too! They are going to remember that I was the best damn X Champion anyone could ever ask for.
I'm determined to win this championship... because I want that glory. I want people to know me, and remember my name. I want people to look at me and see me as the best. Call it greed, call it what you will, but I will have everything that I've dreamed of. Make no mistake about it.
I will be the X Champion.
