Two people..
Ayla was leaning over the weight bench, her right arm lifting the weight up and down in rapid sucession. Her body did the exercise automatically, but her mind was elsewhere. She was staring at him from across the room, watching him do his own exercises.
I kind of liked it your way.. how you shyly placed your eyes on me.
What she did not realize was.. he was staring back at her.
Did you ever know..
And yet, they were across the room from one another. A single voice, carried across would bring one to the other, and neither of them could speak it. Whether it was embarassment, fear, or outright hesitation. Neither one moved. Across one simple room..
That I had mine on you?
Two Worlds Apart..
Ay..? We're ready to start..
Oh.. kay..
Ayla put the weight down and stood up, she walked over to the ring and slid into it. There were two strangers in the ring. Amateur female wrestlers from the local area. Ayla looked at them strangely, then at Rayne.
No Kyle?
I thought we'd give him a break from us.. he's not young anymore..
But..
If you say, neither are you, I'm going to hit you with a stick.
Where would you get a stick?
I'd find a way.
Ok, ok, fine.. Silly pants..
You know how to start..
Ayla began her warm up stretches, as did the other two wrestlers. Rayne, already warmed up and ready, walked around the ring. She looked over at where Kyle had been, and found the spot empty. She scanned the gym for him, and found him leaning against a wall, watching the activity in the ring. Their eyes met, and she gifted him with a small smile. He nodded, a gesture of thanks more powerful than any word can express. She had a fleeting thought of this being a mistake. That they needed to get better by training against who could arguably be called the best. She turned to Ayla, and called her name.
Ay..
Sup bubblegum?
Maybe we..
She turned back to where she'd seen him, but he was gone.
Nevermind, are you about ready?
Ship shape!
Let's get started..
Transition
Soooooo.. I was talking to Sandy the other day, and she had to outline to me what a certain "cat" has been flapping her lips about lately. And it seems that, her whole self imposed idea is that.. we haven't gotten anywhere because all the "Starlets" we were trying to kill are still here, alive and well...
...Did you really think we were going to start murdering people? And people tell me that I'm dense.
Fact is kitty poo, since we've been here.. each and every single Starlet, and even some of the wrestlers have fallen before us. They've been embarassed, forced to use excuse after excuse as to why we were better than them. They've backpeddled, called us names, but none of them have put on their big girl pants and stopped us.
But hey, some of them are trying.
Roxxxie dropped her stupid porn name. They changed their tag team name, not to a better one by any stretch of the imagination, but away from that stupid "Oh look at us, how slutty we are" name. Crystal and Shelly have been playing the blame game, finding any reason as to why losing wasn't their fault.. Everything, in my humble opinion, seemingly is going according to plan.
We are the Starlet Tag Team Champions, and while we hold these belts, people will understand that we are the dominate force here. They will look to dethrone us. They will put aside their silly games and their stupid stare at the mirror attitudes, because they know that those kinds of bull**** won't get it done when it comes time to ring the bell and get to work.
Guess what happens when they do all that?
If you said, "That's when they'll stop being Starlets and start being wrestlers"..
Congratulations! You're a winner!
If you said anything else, which, you probably did..
You suck! Go home!
Get my drift? It wasn't about killing people, or injuring them, or even making them quit. It was about being so far up above you that you stop all your preening and whining and do something about it before your career becomes a stagnant pile of mud after a rugby game.
Kinda like now, isn't it?
You want to talk about how you helped pave the way?
I don't recall seeing your name on the opening roster. Hell, you weren't even in the women's tournament. And don't try and tell me a one off match here, or a one off match there helped make this dream a reality.. this was made by women (not you), who stepped up and demanded (not you) that nCw be fair and equal to women (not you).
And don't even get me started on Mercy Vargas.. in fact, I don't even want to acknowledge that little parrots existance anymore. All she's going to do is stand in a room, talk about crap that has no importance..
I mean, really.. ok, you had jury duty.. where you debated with people..this was supposed to show the people watching that you have issues getting along with others? Here's a hint, debating things in the jury room.. is what you're supposed to do.
Gee, why not show yourself operating an atm and then saying that you have a handle on machines. Idiota...
That's the problem with the two of you. Kat is so stuck on the fact that she wasn't one of the originals that she will find any hole, any technicality just to have something relevant to say. Mercedes has no merits of her own, nothing to point at, which is what she thrives on, so she's just a parrot sqwaking whatever you say double time.
It's sad in a want to step on the ewwy bug kinda way.
But, after this week, we won't have to deal with any more of your BS. One of us is going to make Mercy tap out like a baby.. and then you are going to be all alone in the ring with two of the best women's wrestlers in the world today..
No place to hide..
No second chances..
Nothing to fall back on..
Then "Opportunity", aka KatGas, will become just another footnote in history when the two of you realize that you are outmatched. Mercy will blame Kat for everything, Kat will defend herself and point the finger back at Mercy, Ace style. And they'll break up, like they should have done ages ago.
Well, I wash my hands of the two of you after Sunday...
Have fun having your last bluff called and beaten..
Kisses,
Love, Ayla
Epilogue
Later, Ayla was taking off her boots after the workout. She hadn't seen Kyle since this afternoon. She wasn't worried, she'd see him at home. Home. The very word evoked several different feelings in her chest. She didn't live with him, technically, she lived next door. But, she spent so much time there..
Why.. do I do that?
She didn't have a concrete answer. He was.. a friend.. right? But, was that it? She wasn't sure. She was leaning on him, emotionally, like she leaned on Sandy. But, what Sandy said the other day...
What.. do I do..
She looked at the floor, and saw a sticker on her gym bag. It said "If you do what your heart says is right, you can't go too wrong." She smiled a little at the irony.
Gee, thanks.. I feel so much better now..
Oh well, time to put it all behind her and get ready for the weekend.
