Collision
{Squinting his eyes at Seth, Alex Jones continued standing just a few steps in front of him... Kiela stood a few steps to the side, too scared to get between them. A sudden shift of his attention, Alex Jones looked at Kiela and took a deep breath before addressing her.}
Alex:
"Shelly will take you back to the hotel... I need to have a word with my student."
{The stern tone behind the voice of Alex Jones almost seemed to frighten her, as she hurried down the hall, leaving Alex and Seth there. Seth's eyes look past Alex for the moment...}
Alex:
"I'm sick of this, Seth."
{Those simple words came loud and clear to Seth, and caused him to lift his head up to look at his trainer. Alex Jones had turned his back to Seth, and placed one hand to his forehead as he looked down to shake his head over the situation.}
Seth:
"I..."
Alex:
"I don't want to hear it!"
{Alex Jones had cut him off before he could mutter a second word out, and he turned back to face Seth Evans. Scowling.}
Alex:
"This is your last warning. If I see you act like a child after you lose one more match --- I'm ending your career my f*ckin' self."
{Feeling the shame in himself, Seth just looked toward the ground. Alex Jones' eyes lingered a few seconds longer on his student before he finally turned around --- right into Spike Kane. The two that would face at Road To The Gold in a long awaited grudge match. Spike has a little smirk on his face.}
Alex:
"You don't need to be here."
Spike:
"Relax."
{Spike tries to brush past Alex Jones, but Alex stands his ground which seems to anger Spike. When it looks like they might turn it into a backstage brawl, Seth Evans steps up to look at Spike Kane --- a man that he thought he could also call a friend, a man that he looked up to when growing up. However, Seth stands by the side of his trainer and it looks like the situation has turned into a two on one against Spike Kane?}
Seth:
"What do you want?"
Spike:
"I just wanted to say..."
{He eyes Alex for a moment, before turning his attention straight to Seth.}
Spike:
"Tough break. I was rooting for you out there... you did good, though."
Seth:
"Thanks."
Spike:
"No problem. Your day will come."
{Spike takes one step back.}
Spike:
"Talk to you later, Seth. Alex... always a pleasure."
{He smirks again before turning away from Alex and Seth, and walking down the hallway as the scene goes out.}

There's one thing that's going through my mind, right now. That is this opportunity that I have this Sunday to walk out as a champion... Granted, it's not the World Heavyweight Championship that I was close to earning. It's a title that, while I have not held, I do hold close to my heart for this reason.
When I first returned to the New Championship Wrestling ring, I was disappointed... I was disappointed because the X-Division title was retired and merged with the Xtreme Championship to create the --- drum roll, please! --- X CHAMPIONSHIP! Let's try sounding that out. It's going to make for some very confusing conversation. I might have to go to some of the ex champions to ask them some tips on how to get around this... if I win...
Let's not talk about that.
The point is that the X-Division Championship, once upon a time, was the greatest title to me. It was my very first championship --- to have it retired, it hurt... however, I have a chance to capture the title that it had merged into this Sunday. The X Championship. The title that my former opponent...
Enemy.
...held. The title that he was forced to relinquish after defeating me in the finals of the Road To The Gold. That's my chance... that's my opportunity... to take the title that he had to relinquish, and carry it on! Carry it... further... and not just carry it for him --- but be the better champion than him!
You see, with my loss... I lost my chance at the biggest prize in the company. The one that we all dream of wearing around our waist. But opportunities still knocked on my door. This... was one of them... a chance to prove that I can be a better champion. A chance to prove that I can be a fighting champion.
I will be.
I will do whatever it takes to take this win on Sunday. I will do whatever it takes to walk out as the X Champion... and here's the question that everybody will be asking when I'm holding that champion. Who's the World Champion? Who's the National Champion? All eyes are going to be on me. Because I don't plan on sitting on my ass and wearing a title around my waist, looking pretty --- I plan on getting in the face of the roster, and tell everyone... that if they want a shot, they just have to ask. Because I'm going to be a champion. I'm going to be the definition of a champion.
It's just a matter of taking advantage of this opportunity.[/i]
I couldn't help but think of what Gjenrei had said... believing that I think of my opponents as stepping stones. It truly was an interesting concept. Could I really argue about it? I mean, after all, I do go out to that ring and I do expect to win. As tough as my opponent may be, I expect to go out there and win --- I must go out there and win. Deep down, did I really want them to be mere stepping stones? My answer was no. That would be far too boring... I just had to learn to accept that I wasn't going to win every single time. Here's how I see my opponents.
There's something about this business, besides the fame and fortune that it might bring that keeps bringing me back... I understood from the very first time that Rob Diamond sent me packing, that no one was going to be a stepping stone. That's when it became clear in my mind that this wasn't an easy path. That's why I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with your opinion, claiming that when I get into that ring, I only see the one thing --- because I don't.
Here's what brought me back.
Competition.
Because I knew that there was a competition with this industry, and with this company.
Some people might look at my personality as a downfall --- because I don't like to lose... I don't handle it very well... My opinion on my personality; that's what makes me better! That's what helps me get better... because I have the desire to be the best. Because I want to be the best. Because I am willing to do everything I can to be the best! It has gotten the best of me quite a few times. To the point that I've had to walk out in order to cool off.
I've said it before.
I'll say it again.
I'm back on my feet, and I'm standing.
I'm not going to be able to change my personality... I'm not going to be able to change myself from wanting to go out to the ring every single night, and WANT to win! Anybody who goes out to the ring and doesn't want to win, you don't belong on the roster. It's that simple. What I can do better, though, what I will do better... what I have done better... is standing. Even when I can't get the job done, when I'm laying flat on my back in the middle of the ring after knowing that I had my shoulders pinned to the mat.
I get back up.
My toughest match... my toughest loss... in my career. Road To The Gold, the finals, against Xander Famularo. I was right there! I was so close to becoming the number one contender for the World Championship. I was so close to becoming the World Champion. Everything shattered before my eyes --- I would say that it was a tougher loss to endure than losing to Freakke. It was a tougher loss to endure than Rob Diamond.
As tough as the loss was.
I'm still standing.
I would say that's one hell of an improvement.
I don't just want this win, Gjenrei. I need this win. I need to bounce back from my loss, and become better than I was... And I can't think of a better opponent. When we step into the ring, Gjenrei, I want it to be honorable. I want it to be respectful. I want to be able to shake your hand at the end of the match, and prove to the world that I'm not a little boy stomping his feet when he doesn't get his way. I'm a man. As much as I want to be able to do that, though, there's one thing that I do want a little more than just walk out after an honorable match.
I want to walk out with the X Championship in my hands.
I can't expect less, Gjenrei. I will do whatever it takes to get the job done. I will do whatever it takes to hold that title.
And begin on my new road... to the gold.

Thursday
{Finally... Back inside the training facility, we heard the sound of a bodies crashing against the canvas. The camera pans around to see two people inside of the ring --- Seth and Alex. Both of the men are in their wrestling gear as Seth takes Alex over with a side headlock! However, Alex Jones is very quick to get free from the hold... both men are back to their feet, and just when it appears that both of them are about to collide, a voice interrupts their spar.}
Kiela:
"Seth, your phone..."
{Exhausted, Seth leans against the ropes with his elbows propped up on the top rope... Kiela takes the phone over to him, and he takes it from her. It's not ringing, just a mere beep signifying that he had received a text message.}
Hmm. From Spike.
{Glancing over his shoulder to see where Alex Jones was, he opened the text message to read it. A sigh escaped, and he typed a quick message back before hitting the 'send' button, and handing the phone back to Kiela.}
Kiela:
"Wasn't important?"
Seth:
"No, not really. That's okay, though. I could use a breather."
{Seth walks a little bit around the ring, stretching his arms as Alex is waiting for him to be ready. The scene goes out.}
I can't worry about the problem going on between Spike and Alex... after all, it wasn't really my business. My sole focus had to remain on Gjenrei, learning his moves, learning what he can do inside the ring --- and expecting more. That's the only way that I'm going to be able to defeat Gjenrei for the title, the only way that I'll wear a belt back around my waist and redeem myself for my last run as the X-Division Champion. Redeem myself for my loss in the finals of the Road To The Gold. Bounce back.
