Seems to me like we were lucky to even make it on the pay-per-view this month guys. Our match is nothing more than a glorified Web Show main event, and I take it for what it is. Another match that demands my focus. Nothing more, nothing less. But for you three, this might seem like an opportunity.
It's not.
Plain and simple guys, whoever made the matches for this pay per view didn't have anything better for the four of us to do. Each of you should look at the match, and feel annoyed. You're making up the numbers, just names of no importance to the people who matter in this company.
You know what I'm talking about, right Seth? You should probably be higher up in the plans of the people who matter, given that just a few weeks ago you were in the final of Road to the Gold. But because of your attitude to this business, do you think Seth Evans is still seen as a legitimate threat to the main event? Please. Do us both a favor Seth, stop taking yourself and everything around you so seriously. There's certain things that we can change about our careers, and other things that are out of our hands. You have to learn to live with the things that are out of hands, and you have to change the only thing that's stopping you from reaching the top.
Yourself.
Then we have Mike Laszlo. Probably an underachiever here in nCw, given the potential that you've shown in glimpses. But I'll just come out and say it. When I watch your promos, I find it hard to remain interested. Unless you make yourself marketable to the public, none of the money men in nCw are going to take much notice of you. Focus more on your opponents, and when you have a reason to show a specific scene, get to the point snappy.
What I do recognize, is that there's something in you. The raw materials are there for a long and successful career. What it comes down to now buddy, is what you have between your ears. Are you willing to change for the sake of your career? Have you got the ambition, the determination, the resilience, the ability to thrive under pressure?
Answer those questions, and you'll know where your career goes from here Mike.
And last but not least, we have Nathan Webb. Just like the other two guys in this match, I really think the sky's the limit for you Nathan. I like you, I like what you do, and I think with time you're going to blossom in to a very solid competitor. The problem is, you're kind of stuck in a goldfish bowl, where the only thing you care about is your own life and what goes on around you. My suggestion is that you worry less about what's going on in your personal life, and focus on bringing everything you have to this match. Show me some preparation, some knowledge of the strengths and flaws of your opponents. Prove to me that I'm not an idiot for seeing the potential in you.
And that goes for all three of you.
Don't let me see you making up the numbers again.
It had been a complex month for him. Coming back and winning three matches in a row, it felt in a way like he had never left. Yet he knew, deep down, that he hadn't been performing to the same level as he had before the injury. The big question from others was whether he could still compete with the best of them in nCw.
The thought never ever entered his own mind. He kept a strict focus on his three opponents for this week. Seth Evans, Mike Laszlo, Nathan Webb. Three wrestlers who could potentially do great things in this company, three men who would all be determined to beat the "weaker" Doc and use it as a springboard for their career.
He was feeling better though, one month since he decided to return. The aches, the pains.. slowly, becoming a background irritant that would not distract him from the challenge at hand.
Something inside of him would not die. It was the heart of a competitor. The need of a man to be absolute best that he can be, because the self-actualization is the only thing that could replace the drugs and alcohol.
Broken neck or no broken neck - some people would always expect certain things from him. The ability to deliver on those demands, week in, week out, is what seperates people in this business. In fifty years from now, when he looks back on his career, an injury will just seem like an excuse. And thinking that maybe, his career wasn't worth the long-term damage to his body..
That's his biggest fear.
He only had one life in which to live out his dreams, and his youth was slowly fading away from him.
The clock was ticking.
And the second chances were running out.
It's not.
