I have been patiently waiting, which is unusual for me, but I have been waiting for the firestorm that is coming for me, also known as Roberto Verona's wrath. But for some reason, although I probably should be leery of what's coming...I am not. I feel calm, not really concerned about it. Almost at ease.
Yes, Roberto Verona has toppled men like the Ace and made it look easy. But, again, I'm still not worried. Hell, he's beaten me in the past few months. You'd think that would register something, but...No. Nothing. I'm not intimidated by Roberto Verona. I'm not in awe of him. I do not sweat Roberto Verona. Mostly I do not FEAR Roberto Verona.
But why you ask?
Because my name is Ricky Johnson.
I've fought the best, and I've beaten the best.
The one thing I've had for Roberto Verona is respect.
Sadly, I don't feel like I'm getting the same.
Every time I listen to you talk, I get this bad taste in my mouth. The taste of anger I have to choke back. I get this aura, this aura of pretentiousness that I have never really seen before. Overall I get this bad vibe that no one else matters but you. And right now, all of that is getting on my nerves.
Okay, that was a little much. I'm letting you get to me Roberto. It's just not the type of personality I expected from someone like you. But then again, what can I expect from a man who's sole reason for attempting a revolution is...
Wait...
Come to think of it, why does Roberto want a revolution? Because he dislikes authority? That's pretty weak if you ask me. Authority exists for a reason Roberto. Limitation and regulation. A society without those things cannot govern itself.
You will find out Sunday that you too have limitations.
Ricky - Happy now?
Roxi - Yes.
Ricky - Good.
Roxi - Why don't you get anything?
Ricky - Like what?
Roxi - I don't know, it's Cold Stone, get something.
Ricky -Fine.
...
Roxi - Well?
Ricky - Peanut Butter cup sundae.
Roxi - Nice.
Ricky - I know.
Roxi - They are good.
Ricky - Probably the best Sundae combo ever.
Roxi - Better than snickers?
Ricky - I'm not a big fan of the peanuts in there. One moment your eating the ice cream, and bam! Peanut right in the throat that was buried by hot fudge and whipped cream.
Roxi - Don't like the surprise in every bite route huh?
Ricky - Not of fan of possibly dying be a dessert.
Roxi - Speaking of which why do they call it "death by chocolate"?
Ricky - Because everything is chocolate in it.
Roxi - Yeah, but, has anyone ever actually died from it?
Ricky - I don't think so.
Roxi - Well then, maybe they should change the name.
Ricky - It's fine.
Roxi - It's trivializing death. How gluttonous are we as people?
Ricky - I think you're over-thinking it.
Roxi - It's just a dumb name
Ricky - Well, what should they call it then?
Roxi - A lot of chocolate.
Ricky - That's lame. "Death by Chocolate" gives a hint of danger. A challenge
Roxi - Yeah, "try not to die eating all this chocolate that you shouldn't be eating in one sitting anyway"
Ricky - I don't think that would fit on an ice cream box
Roxi - Still better than "death by chocolate"
Ricky - Death by Chocolate... It reminds me on NCW
Roxi - What?
Ricky - Yeah. Sounds like Dexter Davis' finishing move. On Freya.
Roxi - Or something Rob Diamond would be afraid of.
Ricky - I wonder how he feels about the black and white cookie?
Roxi - Probably thinks it's racist because the cookie isn't white
Ricky - Sounds about right.
Waitress - Hey guys, would like to try a piece of our new "death by chocolate" cake?
...
Rules.
They exist because people like you need limits, they need rules to govern them. Because without them, the world turns to chaos. Is that what you'd like Roberto? Chaos? If you do, you are not calling for revolution, you're calling for Anarchy. That's not what this is about Roberto. As much as I hate to admit it, this place NEEDS a Leonard Fox to run it. Without him, it's just not the same.
Listen to me, turning into even more of a softy.
No, let me be clear. I said this place needs Fox, just like The Joker needs Batman. There has to be a counterpoint to the point. A yin to the yang. A peanut-butter to the jelly. That is everything Leonard Fox is. Eliminating him is the worst possible idea. There has to be someone for the hero to fight against. If there is no bad guy, then, really there is no good guy. I understand that winning is the ultimate goal in this game, half the fun is besting the villain, letting him return to his dark lair to lick his wounds and vow revenge.
Once that's gone, the game isn't fun anymore.
Do you see where I'm going with this Roberto?
Every revolution, remembered as good or bad, eventually is replaced by another revolution. Either that, or the revolution fails. But the one thing they have in common is there was order. There was law.
What you are calling for, in this case, Anarchy, will not solve anything here in NCW. Think about that for a moment. Let it sink in. Chaos in NCW, you, standing there watching the empire burn down with a grin on your face. Then what? the next think you know, Andrew Jacobsen is asking for a world title match against Joe Everyman, Steve Awesome is running around naked ALL the time, and Rob Diamond is an even bigger douchebag.
It's not a world I want to live in.
No, your vision is one that will fail miserably.
Why? Because there is another revolution that has already begun.
My revolution.
It is what I have started, and what I will finish very, very soon. But in my revolution, even people like you benefit. Everyone gets a fair shake because they all deserve it. No one is overlooked, undervalued, or looked at as some sort of unbeatable god because they don't like to lose.
My revolution makes it safe for people to come here and succeed, not be held under the thumb of authority, no one gives their best buddy 15 world title matches in a row, things that needs to change here in NCW.
It's a beautiful dream Roberto. One that I will not allow you to ruin.
I will also not allow your warped vision to come to life. You and your dream have descended to near madness. An aura of disrespect and unabashed arrogance that must be stopped. At all costs.
That brings us to Sunday.
That day, You will find out that you cannot go around disrespecting people because you want to. You will find out that you are no messiah, you are not the agent of change that I am. You've been going about it all wrong. You don't get it. Revolution does not mean Anarchy. Revolution makes things better for those fighting for it. You, Roberto, have been fighting a losing battle.
How does that old adage go?
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend"?
Not anymore.
