People like Roberto Verona...
You know, Chris... Doc... whatever you want to be called. That's one thing that I can't dispute with you. I can't dispute the fact that Roberto Verona is going to be a great competitor in the future, and that he's going to be headlining the next generation of superstars with him. The National Champion. It's because of what you say. It's because he's the one that is going to the veterans and learning from them. He's learning his flaws. He's learning his limitations. He's getting better.
But here's what you're not wanting to admit. What you're not wanting to notice.
I'm going to be one of the few that stands alongside him, at the top of the mountain.
All of those things that you mentioned, I've been doing. I've had my flaws pointed out to me as well as taking a look at myself, and figuring out some of my own. One of the major flaws that I had for the longest time; quitter. If things didn't go my way. If I felt that Bob Mailville just had it out for me. I walked.
That was my biggest flaw. I was a perfectionist. I didn't believe in the concept that you can't win them all... to me... those were the words that only a loser would tell you. It was a tough concept for me to grasp, but I did --- on my own. I stood back up, and I came back for more. After each shot that I took, I got back up.
I still fight with that demon.
But I will conquer it.
As far as limitations go, that's a demon that I have never fought with because it's non-existant! You see, Doc, it was that attitude... the attitude that there are no limits, that's what got you into this position that you're in. Where every match you're in is a match for your career. If you take one wrong hit, you could lose your life. Because you never believed in limits.
Is that what you want from me?
To accept limits?
If that's the case, I'm insulted. I'm insulted that you would be so selfish to take the glory for yourself, and not want anyone else to fight like you do... to fight... without limits. When I step into the ring, Doc, there are no limits to what I can do. There are no limits to what I will do. The only thing that matters to me is walking out with the victory.
That's what leads to my improvement. Because I don't limit myself. I've set my mind on something, and I'm going to do whatever it takes to make sure that I get it. To make sure that I do become the World Champion. To make sure that I do go into the Hall of Fame.
There's people that are new to this business that do what Roberto does and immediately seek the guidance. Then there's the guys like me, who would rather eat a few bullets just so long as I know that I'm learning things my own way. It doesn't stop me from training with a friend, and someone who just happens to be one of theb est that this company has to offer.
Your own friend. Alex Jones.
I know you two go a long way back.
I train with him. But I learn from my own mistakes. I learn from what I do.
What you're doing... saying... it's just splitting hairs from Kyle. At least he has the balls to come to my face and say that he wants to help me get better, and not try to mask it in his words. I see right through you.
As for you, Mike. I get what you're saying... what you're getting at... you don't care about what Doc and I have done in nCw throughout our time here, just like... we don't care what you've done. I get that it's not really out of disrespect, just as my attitude is not meant as disrespect.
It's meant exactly what you said.
We don't care.
We don't care about what anyone else has done before we got in the ring with them, we don't care if they're a former World Champion or not, we don't care if they're in the Hall of Fame, we don't care if the world fears their name. We don't.
There's just one tiny problem with your thought, Mike. This is the part that I don't like, the part that I've heard from every single person to come into the ring after me... and what I've heard from a great number of people that I've beaten in the past. How you had it planned all along? How you're waiting to strike? That's your problem. You've been waiting for a strike for so long that you're just going to keep waiting --- while I take a strike, and whether I hit or miss, I... take... that... strike.
What's going to happen when you lose? Are you going to claim that you're just trying to stay under the radar? Because you're cerebral?
You better come up with a damn good excuse. Because I can assure you that you're not beating me this Sunday.
I'll see you both tomorrow. And Doc, you'll see that my words will ring true. I'm rising from my two big losses... I'll have many more big matches in the future, and there will be a different outcome. Tomorrow night, it's just another step to get back to the big picture.
