And so, we reach the eleventh hour.
Time continues to tick away until you and I face off in the ring Roberto.
And yes, your National title is on the line.
And yes, you are quite correct, I do not really want to hold that title again.
But do not mistake what I said as something it is not.
I don't want the National championship, because I don't need it. Not for any other reason. If this were a different time, a different place, say a year ago. I would be elated to have a shot at that title. It's been held by many of the greatest to ever set foot in NCW. It's history and lineage goes back a long way, right up to include you, the current champion.
Oh there I go again, giving you respect without a hint of sarcasm. Whereas when you speak, it's all I hear. You don't mean a damn word you say when you speak about me.
But that's okay Roberto, I can deal with smart-mouthed lunatics. I'm pretty sure I've done it before.
But really, more than you arrogance, more than your delusional mind, more than your disrespect, The one thing I dislike most, is your blindness.
Yes. You are blind. You can't see the forest for the trees. You think that because you are National champion, you got to hold it at all costs. It's really not the case. While it is true, that the National title is indeed a stepping stone to the World title scene, you are going about this all wrong. That title is your greatest detriment right now Roberto.
As long as you hold on to it, you will NEVER gain a world title match, no because you don't deserve it, but because they've tricked you into believing that if you are the champion, you're the best. They are perfectly content with letting you run around thinking your revolution is running smoothly. When in fact, they've already slowed it to a crawl Roberto. You've been National champion for how many months now? And they've fed you the Ace, and offered a bounty on your head. Child's play Roberto. They are HUMORING you. They've fed you the garbage, and now, like I said before, they want to kill two birds with one stone. I now stand before you, clearly a threat to your title, but not wanting it. Not simply because I've already had it, but because it's a handicap. Hell, by defeating you for the title, I'd be doing you a favor, releasing you from your bonds as the proverbial hamster on
the wheel, going around and around and gaining no progress.
Do you understand now?
It's the whole reason they wanted me to beat Zane and challenge you. It has nothing to do with a revolution, yours is practically over anyway. Look around you Roberto, can you see it? That revolution that you are so fond of? You've been fighting the drudges for so long, you've become complacent. And now, your comfortable aren't you?
Guess what?
So are they.
This is merely to make you feel better about your revolution. You beat men, and then what, another goof comes along, maybe he beats you, maybe he doesn't. But you will continue to dance just as long as they play the music won't you?
You are a fool for thinking that you are really out here making a difference.
But me? Look, I'm stuck here, facing you for the National title, when Curtis Kanyon, who hasn't done anything in the past 3 months, is walking into Breaking Away a challenger for the world title. Doesn't that upset you Roberto? It surely does annoy me. I have a goal, and the only way to accomplish it, is to win the world title. Yes, I know the Riot is drawing near, and that is a great opportunity, and I've already made my plans, and become strategical about the event. But that is the future. Kanyon can simply walk into Chicago and take the world title, and you and I will be left scratching our heads. They dusted him off while it should be me. Who else is worthy? You Roberto? No, not you. You're the National champion.
And you are quite happy with that aren't you?
But, despite all of this, I'm still going to help you out. Yes, I will take your national title and set you free, while adding to my own legacy. I get that you don't want to lose, you want to keep that title to keep the revolution going in your mind.
And don't worry, while there are a number of silly things I can do with your belt, it won't be any worse than when it was carried by Freakke or Chuck Moss. The belt can do so much worse. And yet, the legacy has lived on, so it'll be in good hands.
For about a month.
When I get rid of it, however I choose to do it, it will once again be brought back.
Me? I have bigger fish to fry Roberto. You will just be the beginning of my casualty list.
But again, don't worry, nothing but good things can happen for you afterward. Just like I said originally.
I sincerely hope I opened your eyes today Roberto. I hope you finally get the message. I really want you to see the big picture.
But sadly, I'm almost sure you won't. You will continue with the disrespect even though you should be thanking me. Remember, no disrespect Roberto, I'm doing this for you own good.
How does that old adage go?
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend"?
More like
"The enemy of my enemy is my enemy."
I'm sorry I had to do this Roberto. But you'll thank me tomorrow night."
Adios.
