*We open in on none other than Curtis D. Kanyon standing on a hill top, looking down on the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, the home of Breaking Away. His hair whips in the cold Chicago wind as looks down upon his next battleground.*
Curtis: Xander, you do realize...tomorrow when your music hits...and you walk that aisle, that will be your death march. I guarantee it.
*Curtis looks up into the night sky.*
Curtis: I heard your little speech the other day. I'm sorry, did I mess you up a little more, or is it me inside your head? Because I'm pretty sure I already addressed some situations that you brought up. But hey, you are flustered, I understand.
*Curtis looks to the floor and picks up a pebble. He chucks it down the slope.*
Curtis: I've been there. I can tell you first hand, winning the world title and defending it are two totally different beasts. There have been plenty of one month champs, unfortunately, myself included. Now I understand you want to "rebuild" the NCW world title legacy. It's good. I mean, so many guys win the belt, then are content and be on their merry way as soon as they lose it. I could be content, I should be content. But see Xander, I know I am the best there is at what I do. It eats at me to know I had that belt in my grasp and I blew it on my first defense. But this time, I'm prepared. I'm going to get my glory back by destroying you, then going on to defend the title to keep it for a good long while.
*Curtis takes a deep breath.*
Curtis: I know what you're thinking Xander, and yes, I know you are not like all those other guys...your father included...and you think you can hold the belt longer than them. Because what? You were "bred" for this? You're father was a hell of a man. That didn't stop his reign from ending short. I'm awesome, didn't stop the story from getting cut short. However, I understand it more. You were built for this by your family? That's great. Your victory was inevitable ya? You were Gladiator, but flubbed it, then got the Road to the Gold and made it! Yay for you! You were born with a silver wrestling spoon in your mouth, you know no other way! I was not "bred" for this industry. My family told me my dream was stupid, don't pursue wrestling. I had to claw and scratch and dig my way to the top of this company. I had to work way harder than you ever will to stand on top of that mountain. Do you realize how bull**** that is Xander? But it's fine, I've already done it now, I am at the top, and I will take my title to prove it.
*Curtis feels the wind hit his face as he drinks in the image of him with the belt again.*
Curtis: I have had to deal with the torture in my mind everyday, thinking of how I lost the world title on the first defense. It eats away at me almost as much as losing to the RttG winner last year. Which brings me to my next point, which is that you have one thing right Xander, this place needs a real role model of a world champion. Someone to have that belt for a good long time. Only, it's not going to be you, it's going to be me. I will carry the belt proudly on my shoulder and defend time and again to reduce my shame and move on to my true legacy. You will be the last transitional champion for a long time to come Xander. I will carry this company as only I can, and right these wrongs. While you, you will fall to the wayside and live in a podunk hick town flipping burgers after I destroy your career. Win streak be damned! Because you were taught how to win that belt, but I know you were never taught how to keep it. I know this because your old man couldn't.
*Curtis laughs.*
Curtis: Oh, old man, who has approved your doom. This will be fun. I hope he watches up close to see what I do to you Xander. You also have to understand kid, I'm not as stressed as you. I've been there before. I've already won the belt respectably, so I have nothing to prove on that front. I can take it easy and beat you as quickly or slowly as I want. I have everything to gain from this fight. So thank your Dad for approving this title shot for me. I'm prepped, I'm handsome, I'm good to go. Are you Xander? Are you really?
*Curtis walks closer to the camera as he still looks down on the arena. He points the camera in that direction.*
Curtis: That building will be full on Sunday. Full of all those little ants who bought a ticket, to see the two of us fight. Probably more specifically to see you kick my ass. How disappointed they will be. Don't get me wrong, I expect a fight. I'm hoping for a damn good battle, because otherwise, where is the fun? But when the smoke clears, I will be the clear cut winner. I have to be, for me, for my family, for the company. But mostly for me. I could settle for being a one time NCW champion and phone in the rest of my career like so many others, but that ain't me. That's not how I roll. I'm all about the bigger, badder, better. I'm going to be a two time world champion, and I'm going to rock this company to it's core! Because they need me. Not some boring, flat faced, no personality having bitch. They need a real man with flavor, power, and all around awesomeness! I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, and I'm not afraid to make your life hell tomorrow Xander. As soon as you hit that ring, nothing but hell. But before that, I get to see you walk that aisle...that death march...to pain town. X marks the spot buddy! That title, it's basically a big X on ya at all times. I'm just the first...and the last...to come looking for it, to take it as my own.
*Curtis stops and hits his head a few times.*
Curtis: Sorry, this cold air must be getting to me. I'm all jumbled up in my head and I've been rambling a little but, huh? I'm just so excited! I can't wait! I just can't! Thanks for the opportunity Xander. It means a lot. Ha ha ha. HA HA HA HA! Ha ha...oh, one more thing for you Xander...
*Curtis points at the camera.*
Curtis: Bang.
*Curtis starts to laugh again as the scene fades out.*
