[In a dog eat dog world, there are few allies and even fewer people one can lay their trust in. There is someone waiting to stab you in the back at every corner. Professional Wrestling is a den of liars, thieves, and lowlifes. It isn't a business for the faint of heart. You have to be willing to do just about anything to get ahead in the business and far worse things to get to the top. You have to be willing to cheat, lie, and stab your friends in the back while smiling in their face. Some of claimed to have gotten to the top with only their talents and perseverence, which might be true to an extent, however, once they got there the power of being on top consumed them and once they tasted that power they would let nothing stand in their way of keeping it.
I have lived through the hells of professional wrestling far more than I care to share with you today. But I can tell you that it has been this way throughout history, and nothing can change the way the business works. It will make you smile and cry in the same breath, and it can crush a man's dreams on a whim. You may be asking yourself "Why is he telling me all this?" right about now, and it's a fair question. So I will get right to the heart of this little insight behind the curtain.
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.
If you know going in that this is the norm, you can change your train of thought. If you know going in that your supposed friends are truly your enemies, then you can prepare your mind and soul against the constant torture headed your way. If you know ahead of time that someone is always going to be there waiting to slap you back down as soon as you move a rung up the ladder, you will be on guard. Your natural instinct of self preservation will kick in and you will do whatever it takes to combat those evil forces that are conspiring against you. But ultimately it's about perception.
Perception is reality.
You may view yourself as an upstanding individual working for the greater good, whereas the rest of the people perceive you to be a tyrant. The reality to them is your tyrannical ways, not your goal of the greater good. Take Jimmy Zane, for instance. The fact that he has busted his ass week in and week out isn't what people see. They don't see him as someone who works hard each and every week. They see his failures and brand him a loser. They perceive him to be a choke artist. Whether there it is true or not is irrelevent, it's simply their perception. And like any point of view, it may take a monumental event to change that perception and thus, change their reality.
Change...
The upcoming pay per view is aptly named "Metamorphosis". By it's very definition, it is the perfect location for the very change I speak of. In just a few days, Jimmy Zane can take that epic step forward in the history of New Championship Wrestling and take an even bigger step in changing the perception of his character. As the 80's rock band, the Scorpion's, play on...
The Winds of Change continue to blow!]
-------------------------------
You know, I was expecting some lame ass match at Metamorphosis. Something plain and out of the ordinary all at the same time. You know, like maybe a Showcase match? No? Well, let's give it some flare! Maybe an X-Division showcase match? More flair I say! Me versus Jack Hammond! US v. UK! Now that's what I am talking about!
*shakes head a moment*
Nah! That would never work!
*wink*
But what do I have this week? I get to team up with my old friend. My old partner. Lex ****ing Sense. Wow. Hey man, we weren't tag team champions for nothing. We beat the best teams NCW had to offer. Hell, we beat the best people the NCW braintrust could throw together in random pairings. It didn't matter who it was, Lex and I ran through them like a hot knife through butter. And we did it with style and grace befitting the World Tag Team Champions.
Then it all came crashing down.
Not because we weren't still the better team. But because we weren't on the same page. Lex got sidetracked with that psycho Angel and Rob Diamond. His mind wasn't in the right place and it cost us the tag team titles. Am I mad? Upset? Peaved? Not at all. You see, when someone threatens my family, anything and everything within the wrestling world ceases to exist and I will do whatever it takes to eliminate them as a threat. Lex did what he had to do at the time. I can't fault the man for that. Look around....
*pauses for a moment*
Do you see those guys anywhere around? No? Yeah, thats because the big man wiped the freaking ring with them and sent them packing. So to say that Lex and I get to team up one more time is an understatement. It's a journey that has been a long time coming and you can bet your ass that Lex and I will jump right back in true tag team form come Sunday night. That spells a bit of bad news for you, doesn't it, Verona? It was just a few weeks back that you called Lex and I the weak links of the Young Guns. I remember it clear as day, Berto. Didn't anyone ever tell you not mind what you say to people on the way up because you might have to see them again on the way down???
Well, you are on your way down, and Lex and I will make sure that you and that masked freak, Gjenrei, fall even further. Whether is Lex stomping your brains in and breaking your back with the Prediction, or its me dropping you on your head with HeadzUp, you aren't walking out of that ring in one piece. This isn't about friends or alliances, Roberto. It's about one thing, and one thing only...
THE GOLD!
For far too long I have been so far away from the World Championship that I couldn't even catch a glimmer of it in the sunlight. But things are changing, old friend, and that change doesn't include you. The true backbone of the Young Guns will get their shot, Roberto. Lex and I will lay waste to you and your partner and we will move on to face whoever the NCW World Champion is. That's the bottom line, Roberto.
Hear It!
Learn It!
And get the **** over it!

*CAMERA 1 - EXTERIOR SHOT*
(The scene fades into see DFW Airport. The camera angle is high, showing the entirety of the complex and then panning down to passenger pick up area of the airport. A black SUV pulls into the shot. As it gets closer the camera it begins to slow. Seen in the driver's seat is Jimmy Zane. He throws the truck in park and looks at the doors headed into and out of the airport.
*CAMERA 2 - INTERIOR SHOT*
(We see a giant of a man walking through the airport, dragging his bag behind him. He has a ballcap on to try and seem inconspicuous. He has a jacket over one arm, a backpack with his laptop on his back and his normal rolling suitcase. He walks in a straight line as the people in front of him part like the red sea. As he gets to the door, it slides open and he sees Jimmy and the black SUV there waiting for him. Jimmy pops out and walks around back, flipping the tailgate up to put Lex's stuff in it.)
Hey big man. Let's get your stuff loaded up, bro.
(Lex walks over and stops behind the SUV. He looks it up and down as Jimmy is loading his bags in the back. He says nothing and gets in as Jimmy shuts the tailgate. Jimmy walks back around and gets in the truck.)
*CAMERA 3 - INSIDE VEHICLE*
(Jimmy looks at Lex, smiling)
So big man, how was the trip.
Lex: .....
Hello? Dang man, cat got your tongue?
Lex: .....
Dude?! Hello? What the hell?
Lex: Where's the camaro?
What?!
Lex: Where's the new camero you got?
At home, why?
Lex: Because I wanted to ride in it!
No offense, big man, but if I tried to fit you, me, and all our **** in that camaro, we would look like the dudes in a clown car.
(Jimmy looks at Lex who is stone faced. Confused, Jimmy is just about to speak when Lex busts out in his big, loud, boisturous laugh. He grabs Jimmy like a little brother trying to give him a "noogie")
Lex: I'm just ****ing with you! How the hell have you been?
(laughing) Good man, now get off me!
(Lex let's Jimmy go and sits back in the seat, buckling his seat belt. Jimmy, laughing, buckles his and pulls the truck into drive. They drive through the ridiculous maze that is DFW airport and finally get out onto the open highway.)
Big match Sunday Night.
Lex: Pretty damn big.
You know it's funny that we took completely different paths to get to the same damn place.
Lex: What do you mean?
Well, you got the big time feud with Angel and Rob Diamond. High profile stuff. While I mired along the undercard and eventually proved to everyone that I belong here.
Lex: Well, fighting those guys was no picnic for me, Jimmy. It put me through hell both mentally and physically.
I know the feeling. The mental anguish I went through feeling like I was just your shadow puppet and that you were the meat, and I was the potatoes the entire time we were a team. It took its toll on me, bro and it took a while to get out of that.
Lex: Hey, if it means anything, I never thought of you that way. You are a world class athlete with the ability to beat anyone in NCW.
Even Xander?
Lex: Even Xander. That's if I don't get there first!
Well, bro. We do this together, like always. Me! You! Youngbloods through and through.
Lex: Damn straight. And listen, bro. I am not looking past Sunday. This match against Verona and Gjenrei is all I am focused on. Let's take care of that business first, then we will worry about what comes next. Cool?
Hell yeah, that's cool. I got your back, bro. Always have.
Lex: Sweet. Where are we going?
Well, before we hit the hotel, I figured I would take you to this new, kick ass place they just opened in Plano. It's about twenty miles North of Dallas, but it won't take long to get to.
Lex: What is it?
The greatest...place....ever!
Lex: Does it have....
Yes it does!
Lex: YES!
(Happy, Lex does a little bit of a dance in his seat. He is quickly reminded of the camera watching him and he stops and gets his "Stern mean face" back on. Jimmy turns on the radio to the local sports talk station. They go through a few subjects and then come to the epic show at Cowboys Stadium Sunday Night. They begin to go over every match and then it comes to the tag team match between Jimmy and Lex taking on Roberto Verona and Gjenrei. All the usual stuff comes up..
Can Lex trust Jimmy?
Can Jimmy trust Lex?
Blah, blah, blah...
Both men just laugh as Jimmy takes his exit. They drive a little while longer until Jimmy pulls onto a side street looking for this new place. As he does, Lex reaches over and turns off the radio.)
Lex: You know you can trust me, right, Jimmy?
Hell yeah, I know.
Lex: No, seriously. I got your back. Just like old times.
(Jimmy stops the car and turns to Lex and looks him square in the eyes.)
Lex. I know. We are in this together. Me and you. Brothers till the end, man. We got this!
Lex: (Smiling) Hell yes we do.
And, we are here, bro!
(Lex turns to face forward. His eyes light up with excitement as he leans forward to see the soft glow of the greatest sign he has ever seen. He can only mutter two words.)
Lex: Hell yes!
(He quickly unbuckles and gets out of the truck as Jimmy does too. They quickly hurry inside and as the door shuts behind them, the camera pans back and fades out the following image.)
-------------------------------
You know there are mysteries, and then are are "mysteries". This Gjenrei guy has been accused of being all kinds of people. He is talented as they come, and to be honest, there is a hint of familiarity in his style. But I don't care who he is. Why? Well, the why is easy. Because if he isn't Lex Luthor with a pocket full of kryptonite to take down Lex Sense, then it doesn't matter who the hell he is. Lex and I together are as close to unbeatable as they come. Now, I am sure people will try and shove wedges between Lex and I all week. Roberto Verona is sure to throw some old Young Guns crap into it. Not that there is anything, but Verona has never let the truth stand in the way of a good story.
Isn't that right, Verona?
You are the biggest politician I have ever seen. You side with whomever happens to be in power at the time so that you can get in good with the powers that be at that moment. I guess whatever it takes to get to the top, right? So trust me when i tell you that I have no faith that you won't have something planned to keep Lex and I from winning this match and vaulting you and the masked freak into the World Title scene. I got my eyes open, Verona.
And they are squarely on you.
Now, Gjenrei. You are a puzzle. One I plan on solving Sunday night. Your mind isn't right for this match, and everyone knows it. Trent Helms has got you in his sights and if you think for one damn second that he is going to drop it because you have a big match Sunday night...
Then you don't know Trent Helms at all!
Once he has a mission set in his head, there is nothing and nobody that is going to stop him from getting the end result that he wants. Right now, he wants your mask. If he sees an opportunity Sunday Night to get it, he will. So I would say you are between a rock and a hard place, my masked friend. It's either me and Lex in the ring, or Trent Helms out of it. Either way, **** isn't going to work out the way you think it is.
Sunday night is the next step of the evolution of Jimmy Zane. It's the next step in proving to all of you that I am exactly what I say I am. And Sunday night, alongside Lex Sense, I am going to prove to all of you that I am a
