Roxi - Finally, some peace and quiet.
Ricky - I'm sorry about all that.
Roxi - It's okay, I'm aware of the things that come with wrestling.
Ricky - I know. I just don't want any more interruptions.
{He walks over and gently kisses her on the forehead. He walks back over and sits down, holding his head in his hand.}
Roxi - What's wrong?
Ricky - I'm tired.
Roxi - I could have guessed, you've been so busy lately.
Ricky - No, I'm not physically tired, I'm mentally tired.
Roxi - You aren't broken are you?
Ricky - It's just what's going in NCW doesn't seem like it's going to end anytime soon. It'll be something that just goes on and on and on, til one day there won't be a Ricky Johnson to fight anymore.
Roxi - You're just lamenting
Ricky - No, sometimes I wonder if I really am doing any good out there.
Roxi - You've accomplished so much and fought a good fight.
Ricky - I've put out some fires, but new ones come, they always do.
Roxi - I know. You could always retire.
Ricky - I can't retire until I win the world title at least once, it's a promise I made to myself, and it's one I make to you.
Roxi - What are you saying?
Ricky - I plan on winning that world title before the year is up. Before you give birth.
Roxi - You don't have to give yourself a deadline...
Ricky - If I could have just won one time, it would all be worth it, but I didn't. I failed, over and over again. I've let you down so many times.
Roxi - You've never let me down.
Ricky - Yes, yes I have. I don't need you to humor me. We don't have a child right now because of me. You have almost died TWICE because of me.
Roxi - Those were freak things.
Ricky - Those were foolish and stupid choices made by me, that almost cost me your life.
Roxi - You're getting worked up over the past.
Ricky - I know. Those things will never leave me.
Roxi - You need to let them go.
Ricky - I try. Night in and night out, I put on the brave face, but in the end, what if they all are right, what if I can't win the world title?
Roxi - You can, and you will. You just need some patience.
Ricky - I've been patient, Rox. So help I've tried to be very patient. Now it's come to this, I need to motivate myself to do this. A deadline is what this has boiled down to.
{He gets up, and walks out of the room.}
Roxi - Where are you going?
Ricky - I need to think.
Curtis, I'm really done talking about this match, I mean what's the point, you said it yourself, talk is cheap. Sunday, I will put you and everything else that's wrong in the past. I will be moving on, and you can move on to attack Lazlow or The Ace, or whoever else you want to get beat up by. It doesn't really matter to me. Especially after Sunday. Just like the other times, you will come to the ring to face me, and I will beat you because I'm better.
But it's things like that, that make me wonder. If I am better, how did you become the world champion whereas I have not. It just doesn't make sense. But then again, very little does in NCW these days. But it doesn't change the fact that at one point, you were the world champion. Never mind who you won it from, or who you lost it to, The point if YOU were a world champion. It seems that everyone can be a world champion except Ricky Johnson. Never mind that I've won every other damn title, it's the World title that means the most. And you, at one point, possessed it.
And now, you come for the National title. Now, you come to take me down and claim this belt as your own. You're going to have to come and pry this belt from my cold, dead fingers because I don't plan on giving it up to a misfit like you. Former World champion or not, you will not take this title from me while I still draw breath.
So come at me Curtis. Come to ring Sunday huffing and puffing, angry and enraged, It's okay, I'm used to pissing people off. Come with everything you got ready to fight to the bitter end. Come to the ring expecting to run rough shot over me and take my title.
Then, become the example of how that kind of crap doesn't work, no matter how funny you think you are.
Become the first in what's going to be a long line of challengers, chumps, and pretenders who get systematically slaughtered by the National Champion. The first potential world title challenger, will fall by my hands, Xander. I want you to pay close attention and one by one until there aren't any more challengers.
Just you and me.
That is, IF you still have the World title.
Curtis Kanyon, I'm not going to feel any "Bang" anytime soon. Just a feeling of satisfaction from beating you into oblivion. But, like I always tell people...
"Don't take this ass-whoppin' personally."
