January 23rd, 2012.
{We open up our scene in the home of Will Washington. The camera does a full circle and we see Will sitting on his couch while watching the latest edition of NCW’s flagship program, Collision, on DVR. As we get set for our first match, Andrew Jacobsen’s theme song starts up.}
Will Washington: “Starting out with an AJ match? This should be good.”
{As Jacobsen makes his way down the entrance ramp, the commentary team shares their thoughts.}
Eric Hardy: “Andrew Jacobsen hasn't been going to well lately.”
Willy Carter: “He needs a direction Eric.”
Kelly Knite: “The door is that way.”
{A shocked Will sits up in his chair and starts to talk to himself.}
Will Washington: “Wowwwwww. How is that constructive at all? What kind of boss says that about an employee?”
{Matt Jackson comes out to the ring and the two lock up. After a few minutes of action, yet another off-color remark catches Will’s ear.}
Kelly Knite: “Corn Flakes is showing his superior submission skills.”
Eric Hardy: “Corn Flakes?”
Kelly Knite: “Yeah, he's kinda boring and generic.”
Will Washington (to the TV): “Seriously? I know she’s supposed to be a color-commentator or whatever, but that’s a little much. I mean… Just…. Seriously?”
{A short time later after a less-than-spectacular showing, Matt Jackson connects with his F-5 finisher and puts Jacobsen down for the three count. At this point, Washington is sitting with his head in his hands, shaking it side-to-side as the show is paused with the image of Jacobsen laying flat on his back in defeat. After a short period of this, Will falls back into the couch and turns off the TV.}
Will Washington: “What in the world happened to that kid? He barely put up a fight out there against someone he should be able to beat on any given night. That’s embarrassing.”
{Will reaches over to the coffee table and picks up his phone. He finds Andrew Jacobsen’s phone number and decides to give him a call. Quickly however, he finds that the number is no longer in use, so he hangs up.}
Will Washington: “He must have gotten a new number.”
{He sets the phone back down just as a blonde walks into the room.}
Blonde: “You look flustered. What’s wrong honey?”
Will Washngton: “I don’t know. I was just watching Collision… and I can’t believe what’s going on with AJ.”
Blonde: “AJ?”
Will Washington: “Yeah. He’s an old friend from NCW.”
Blonde: “Ohhhh. Is your friend in trouble?”
Will Washington: “Probably. I’m worried about the direction his career is going.”
Blonde: “Your friend is in trouble, and you’re not doing anything to help him?”
Will Washington: “There’s nothing I can do. I tried to call him, but apparently he’s got a new number. After that, what else is there to do?”
Blonde: “You could always go back.”
Will Washington: “I can’t go back. We’ve got a new life. I’ve moved on from wrestling.”
Blonde: “You can’t fully move on until you’ve accomplished everything you wanted to, and clearly a part of you still wants to be a wrestler.”
Will Washington: “I’ll always have a fire burning in me to return to NCW, but I just don’t think I have what it takes to ever go back there.”
Blonde: “Will… I know you. If you don’t have what it takes, no one does.”

Present Time.
“Surprise!”
{A new scene opens in present day Massachusetts. A rejuvenated Will Washington is standing in his home gym, looking with a big grin on his face.}
“I can only imagine the looks on your faces when you read the upcoming card for Crossroads. It must have felt like you were five years old again on Christmas morning finding that toy you couldn’t wait for under your tree. Will Washington is back in that ring and you just can’t hold your excitement for another minute! I’ll fade out and let you dance a little happiness jig for a moment.”
{He takes a moment to let the fans share the love. It’s a celebration bitches!}
“Done yet? I can wait.”
{Stop celebratinggggggggggggg…… now.}
“Alright alright. While the world is absolutely giddy for my return to in-ring action, there’s one man who is just as surprised, and his name is Andrew Jacobsen. The little fella got some gumption and challenged me to a fight a few weeks ago, and you honestly thought I’d back down from you? Talk about overconfidence. We’ve stood across the ring from each other on numerous occasions, and even one the same side once or twice, and you actually believed I’d skip out of a fight against you? You should know me better than that kiddo. I may be a lot of things, but one thing I‘m not, is afraid. I‘ll fight you anytime… all you had to do was ask. Kelly Knite jumped at the chance to get Will Washngton back on NCW Pay-Per-View. I hope you‘re ready… I really do. Telling you to be careful what you wish for would be a bit cliché, but I think it‘s a fitting response to your brazen stupidity in this situation. Who actually wants to fight me? Someone with a death wish obviously.”
{The former soldier starts to walk around his home gym, gathering the right words to say. It’s a special moment that he has to let soak in. Obviously the return to the ring is going to be huge as well, but this is an overwhelming moment as well. He takes a breath and prepares to promote the match.}
“It seems everyone has mistaken my motive and pegged me all wrong. I’m not here to belittle or insult you, quite the opposite is true. I came back to NCW only to guide you and help you become the superstar that I’ve always thought you could become. For too long you’ve been the little engine that could, but wouldn’t. Make one little change here or there and you’d finally bust through that dastardly glass ceiling, but you’re far too hard-headed to deviate from your idea of ‘Because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and, doggonit, people like me!’ Your overall career directive has been this happy-go-lucky ‘If it happens, it happens’ bullcrap, and it’s gotten you… nowhere. Nothing. Being the clean-cut baby face is an admirable quality and you’ve hung onto it for longer than I’ve ever thought you would, but there comes a point in life when you have to take a look at where you’re at and where you want to be. If you’re in the business to be anything other than the NCW World Champion, then you’re wasting everyone’s time, and in your current directive, that’s never going to happen. That’s as blunt as I can put it for you. Until you start putting your foot on life’s throat you’re never going to reach the upper echelon, and people are always going to look at you as the semi-lovable loser that’s probably going to let them down in the end.”
“Make no mistake, I know you’ve got all of the skill in the world. I’ll never deny to recognize the fact that inside of the that ring, you’re one of the most talented wrestlers in the world and you’ve worked hard to get where you’re at. I will, however, question your desire to go further. You see…. People get the ideas of desire and heart all messed up sometimes. It’s my belief that they’re entirely separate entities, and because of such, some cold, heartless bastards have excelled in life. Sometimes heart just holds you back and makes you weaker, but a desire can never be extinguished. You’ve got a hell of a lot of heart and soul, yet it’s gotten you absolutely nowhere. Why? Because you’re not willing to go to the outer limits of good and bad. You’re not willing to cross the line…. .You don’t have the desire to do anything to get ahead. Sometimes you have to step on a few toes to make it to the top. I came into this business ready to curb stomp on anyone that dared to try and stop my ascent, and look where it got me. I may have gotten a softer edge later in my career, but when I tap into that inner take-no-prisoners attitude, nobody can stop me… nobody can hurt me. This, Andrew, is what I want to instill in you….. I want to instill in you… the cutthroat gene. You can either accept it willingly, or have it beaten into your brain until it becomes second nature.”
“Fact is, it’s a cold, hard world out there Andrew. Everywhere you look the next guy is just waiting for the right opportunity to get one over on you. If you don’t make the first move then you’re going to be the one left in the dust. There’s not finer example of the harsh realities of life than practically anything you see happen on NCW TV any given week. Nearly every single guy here is a deplorable human being that’s willing to hurt anyone in front of him to advance his own career. It’s practically Arkham City behind that curtain, but you can’t realistically blame them for pushing the envelope of what’s considered socially acceptable if the endgame is success. Yet you, the boy scout that you are, won’t even entertain the idea that anything other than being Mr. Nice Guy is the wrong. If a normal person runs into the wall once, they learn from that mistake and they take the door. If you run into a wall AJ, you run into it again and again, ramming it over and over, expecting that eventually the wall will break and you’ll have made you own way. Yet… it never breaks does it? And you never learn, do you? You expect to feel this great sense of accomplishment by paving your own path and never veering off course, living off the prospect of small victories. All I want you to see is that sometimes, nay, every time, the door is not only the quicker route or the smarter route, but it‘s the only route.”
“Your career has been stuck on neutral for the longest time and you still refuse to do anything about it. You say all of the right things and do all of the perceived ‘right things’, and you still haven’t gotten any further than you were two years ago. You sit there and you let countless assholes come by and insult you, beat you, and then move on past you up the ladder to stardom. No matter who they sit in front of you, you great it with a ‘May the best man win.” or “I’ll let my wrestling do the talking.’ Well… It’s time for you to speak up or get out. Sitting at home and wishing you’d done this or that isn’t getting you anywhere, and I can guarantee you that nobody in the office is saying to themselves ‘Boy that Andrew Jacobsen sure is a swell guy. We should give him more opportunities.’ You’ve got three jackasses and a monster in the World Title match, and you’re only on the show because of ME. It took the return of Will Washington for them to even give you a look for a match on Pay-Per-View. Is that where you want to be with your career? You wouldn’t even be on the *** damn web-show if it weren’t for me! My desire to help you improve your standing is the only thing that could get you on the show, yet you refuse to even give my ideas a second thought?! You don’t deserve this match. You don’t. I put my neck out on the line and returned to NCW for the sole reason of helping a helping a once promising star’s dying career, and you can’t even acknowledge the fact that maybe, just maybe, I’m right. It‘s a noble concept, isn‘t it?”
“Call me whatever you want… deflect everything I’ve said if it makes you feel any better… but I’m just looking out for your best interests, AJ. Everyone else may just want to sling insults at you from afar, but here I am, willing to show you the way to be all that you can possibly be. Unfortunately it’s come to this, a match, in order for me to prove to you that your ‘never say die’ attitude needs to die a slow, torturous death. If you step between those ropes with anything other than the utmost intention to rip my head off, then don’t even bother showing up on Sunday. If I’m standing across that ring from anything other than a vicious, blood-thirsty, willing to do anything, brand new Andrew Jacobsen… then I don’t want you there at all. I came back for this, and I won’t stop until it all comes to fruition. By the time Crossroads rolls around, come hell or high water, you‘re not leaving that ring the same person you went in as. You‘re not skating by on morals and a good attitude anymore. For once in your be something more. Give yourself a chance for once…”
{Will stops cold and stares into the camera. You can almost feel it piercing your soul.
“Give me what I want.”
“Give me what the world wants!”
“Give me…..”
{Pause.}
“Me.”

January 23rd, 2012.
{We’re back to our original scene where we can now see Will and his apparent love interest sitting together at the dining room table as Will has the phone up to his ear.}
Will Washington: “Thank you. Thank you so much….. Yes….. I can’t wait…… Thank you for having faith in me….. I’ll see you then!”
{The call ends and Washington drops the phone on the table and he has a smile on his face that beams from ear to ear.}
Will Washington: “I can’t believe I’m doing this! I seriously get to be on Collision again? It’s going to be such a rush…. I couldn’t have done any of this without you.”
{The still unnamed blonde reaches over and holds Will’s hand as she shares in the joy.}
Blonde: “It’s great that you get to go back to where you love again, but you’re doing a good thing too. From what you tell me, that guy really needs your help. You’re saving his career! You’re a good friend Will.”
Will Washington: “I’m just doing what anyone else would do. I’m giving the kid what he needs. It’s time to get him back on the right track.”
Blonde: “It’s going to be hard having you away though. {Jokingly} How will I ever get by?”
Will Washngton: “I’ll only be gone for a week. One Collision and then I’ll be back here with you, watching Andrew Jacobsen soar once again. I can’t wait.”
Blonde: “There’s something we haven’t considered though….. What if he doesn’t want to listen to you? I know you say that he’s a friend, but some people are hard-headed.”
Will Washington: “I’m positive he’ll come around….. In the end, he’ll see that I only have his best interests at heart, and I only want him to succeed….. Sometimes the truth hurts.”
Blonde: “I’m so proud of you. {Again, jokingly} Don’t let this one-time return go to your head or anything.”
{She laughs….. He doesn’t.}
Will Washington: “You don’t have to worry about me, Kris. I’ll be on my best behavior.”
