The Scene opens upon a rainy Saturday night at the Ford Arena in Beaumont, TX.
A heavy storm has struck the Texas gulf coast area and Double L is out in the thick of the rain, packing his belongings for yet another cross-country trip. The camera shows Double L pull his wrestling gear and supplies out of the mud and the weight of the rain, heaving them into his truck. The camera pans to the signboard in front of the Ford arena as it reads "Booker T's Pro-Wrestling Alliance...The Bash at Beaumont" A recent moment of wrestling history of which Double L was a special guest. The camera pans back to Double L as He heaves heavy equipment out of the mud and into the carrier. He then secures and covers his supplies. He climbs into his truck as the cameraman follows him and he starts up the engine, heading off for Toronto, Canada.
As Double L travels across I-10 he looks out upon the American countryside and he begins reflecting on his past career.
The camera records Double L's reflections.
Double L: You know, it's been six years since I last entered professional wrestling. Six years since I tasted the sweet energy of the arena's fluorescent lights. Six years since I've felt the excitement of slamming your opponent flat onto the
board and watching him scream while thousands of fans cheer on the man of justice, Double L. Since then I've been through
two divorces, a few setbacks, and a few tough times, multiplied by a whole lot more memories, good and bad.
The camera catches a sign reading "Welcome to Orange, TX, your last taste of Texas" as Double L heads east, a few miles from Louisiana. Double L sees the cameraman has a pack of cigarettes on the dashboard and tells him to put them away.
Double L: Man keep them things away from me, getting off of those is one of my greatest accomplishments.
The cameraman puts the pack away.
Double L: You see I was in the wrestling game many years ago and after several years of challenges I've been thinking it was time to get back into the professional ring. Six years ago I wrestled for the VEHWF. It was there that the fabled tale of Double L came to pass. I fought for and won two titles, the tag team and intercontinental championship.
Double L turns off the radio as the camera pans to show a sign on the road reading the "Sabine River Turnaround" exit; followed by a big sign flanked by a Fleur-De-Lis logo reading "Welcome to Louisiana".
Double L: Yet, my greatest accomplishment was not any championship title but instead the fact that I ran my own federation, the VSWF. We were one of the best on the market and ran for a full year. Following my retirement from
wrestling I continued to write columns for federations such as the LBWF.
Double L puts a CD into the CD player.
Double L: Yet, it is time for the legend to begin again.
Double L: Now, I have recently attended a moment of sports history. Booker T's Bash at Beaumont. You might ask yourself "Why would Double L attend such a lowly organizations show?" The answer to your question is as beautiful as a rising sun, because I can tell you that I have yet again tasted the sweet aroma of the wrestling arena. My ears have yet again heard the crowd of fans screaming insults to my opponent. Insults that you, Steve Awesome could never muster. I have experienced the sound of slamming the mat, stuck with bruises and headaches which will last you for years and I can tell you Steve Awesome that you have much to fear, because wrestling is in my blood. My heart beats to every cheer of the crowd. My muscles ache to every super-slam because I can feel myself enjoying the spike of pain that I give my opponent, hoping that it lasts him all eternity. I can tell you Steve Awesome that you have much to fear. That you will experience a tornado of pain and suffering. I can sense it right now...I can see your face of fear when we are eye to eye in a challenge, I can hear the fans right now "Steve Awesome, you've got the hair of Dog the Bounty Hunter", I can smell the kerosene when I light a table on fire, I can hear an Innocent scream of fear from you when I power-bomb you through it.
Yes you, Steve Awesome have much to fear.
For I have wrestling in my blood......
