What can you do when your dreams come true
And it's not quite like you planned?
And it's not quite like you planned?
It's almost time, Davey. My only hope in this match it for it to be a show stealer. There is nothing really on the line in this match. No respect gained or lost. No championships. No real amount of money. Nothing worthy of anything. So, lets go out and show off to anyone. This is Xtreme Rules, a division that you and I helped usher in to this company. We were two of the first Xtreme Champions. We should be able to go out there and make people like Lex Sense and Angel quiver at the shots we will rain down on each other. I hate to say it... but let's go out and have some fun. You know, as much fun as thing as one can have while getting their spine broken by a steel chair. Just do this one thing for me, Davey. I need something to show the guys up top that I am truly worthy of fighting for their gold. And a huge, crowd pleasing match against you would do that. I don't want you going out there and half-assing it because you haven't been back very long. I want this match to be great!
The scene slowly opens up inside of Joe Everyman's locker room. Joe is sitting in a large chair, his arms up on the arm rests, his head back, his eyes closed. Sarah Rodgers is laying on the couch with a light blanket pulled across her, covering her mid-section. After a few moments, a light knock is heard at the door as Joe looks up with one eye, making sure he actually heard something. After a few seconds, another knock is heard. Joe slowly stands up and quietly walks over to the door. He opens it and a girl is standing behind it, sporting a "I Believe In Joe Everyman" ladies tee. She walks into the room with a bag around her arm and puts it down in front of a television in the corner.
Joe Everyman: Jeez, took you long enough to get here, Mel.
Melanie Brooks: Yeah yeah, sorry. The traffic in California is absolutely terrible.
She reaches up and takes off her glasses for a second and cleans off a dirty spot on them. She puts them back on as Joe is seen searching through her bag.
Melanie Brooks: You got that?
Joe Everyman: This isn't the first time I've set up an Xbox before.
He reaches into the bag and pulls out an HDMI cable and looks at it. Melanie sighs and walks over, grabbing the cable and the bag.
Melanie Brooks: Best let me handle this.
Joe Everyman: Yeah, yeah...
Joe turns and looks back at Sarah, who is still out. He looks back and Melanie has set up the Xbox completely already. She digs into the bag again and hands a controller to Joe as he is still in disbelief.
Joe Everyman: How... how did you do that so fast?
Melanie Brooks: I have my ways. Now, let's play the nCw video game!
Joe Everyman: You seemed obsessed with that when I talked to you earlier. Why is that?
Melanie Brooks: Because, when I post online and tell all of my friends that I played this game with someone who is IN is, they are going to freak out and the internet will love me!
Joe Everyman: ...you know that this is being recorded, right? And it will be seen by millions of wrestling fans?
Melanie shyly turns and looks at the camera.
Melanie Brooks: Of... of course I did!
Joe Everyman: Shh, keep it down a little bit. Sarah is still asleep.
Melanie Brooks: Right, sorry. She is going to be so excited to see me when she wakes up.
Joe Everyman: You didn't tell her yet?
Melanie Brooks: Not yet, I wanted to surprise her.
Joe Everyman: Oh ok, good id-
Joe is cut off by his phone ringing. Joe reaches into his pocket and pulls it out. It says "Maria" across the screen again.
Joe Everyman: Oh, piss off.
Melanie Brooks: Who was that?
Joe Everyman: My ex-wife.
Melanie Brooks: Oh! Can I talk to her?
Joe looks at her confused, shrugs and hands the phone to Melanie.
Joe Everyman: This outta be good.
The scene then slowly fades to black.
So Davey, remember that stuff I just said about you? Just forget all of it. I don't mean to pull a GLaDOS or anything here, but just forget it. I was kidding about all of it. Trying to lure you into a false sense of security. Did it work? I really hope it did. Because you need to realize something, Davey boy. I may respect the hell out of you. I do in fact think of you as a legend, not only in nCw, but everywhere. But, you've got to realize one other thing.
I f*cking hate your guts. I always have, I always will. Of everyone to walk these halls, you have buried me more than anyone else. And you did it in your own little snide way. Some guys just come out and say it. Some guys say it in an undertone. But you... you just have the Ortega way of doing it. And it makes me sick. Of anybody in the whole history of nCw, nobody has gotten to me like you do. And that is why I hate you. And that is also why I must crush you. You may think this is your time again, that it is time for your domination, as you put it. I hate to break it to you, but that just isn't going to happen. I hate to bring myself down, and I try not to as much as I can, but do you have any idea how terrible a loss to me will look on your grand return to this company? I know how many people in the past have collapsed because of that. And it's funny that you bring up Lance and Spike, because I did the same to them. I ended their little returns, and they were never the same.
And Davey, it's almost time for it to finally happen to you. I have always wondered when you were going to come back, because I have been planning for it. If I can be remembered for one thing, it's doing what Trent Helms never could. I want to end the eras of all of the Hall of Famers and legend this company spews out. Spike fell, Lance fell, and even the mighty king, Adam Knite, fell. And now, Davey, it is your turn. I would say that it's nothing personal... but it is completely personal. I want you to pay. I want you to hurt. I want you to burn. And now, I get my chance. I get my chance to finally make you feel the way that I have all of these years. I am not now, nor will I ever be, over the things you did to me.
There are men like Spike Kane.
Like Trent Helms.
Like Adam Knite.
Like Lance Ryan.
And then there is you, Davey.
But way... way... WAY above all of them, and vastly above you, sits me, alone at the top. Dispute it all you want you want, but deep down, you know it's true. I may not be the best in terms of wins, but in every single other way imaginable, I am miles above you. But, if you want to try and prove me wrong, you have your chance this Sunday. We mirror each other in so many aspects, except for one, Davey. I will be remembered for the great things I have done, while you will be forgotten for all of the crap you have done. In the end, I will be remembered. You will be forgotten. Ask anyone, they will say the same thing. It may be your time, but that time is running up faster than a broken hour glass.
Your time is done Davey, because it has always been my time. Ever since nCw opened, this company has been mine. And until the days that it closes, it will always be my company. You are just a pawn in the grand scheme of my design. And what happens in chess, my dear Davey? The pawns must die. In the end, you will be forgotten. I will make sure of it. Every one cares for the king, because if he falls, the game is over. I am protected, just like the king that I am now. Ever since Adam fell to me, I have become nCw's King. And they may try to get to me, but they never will. I will never lose. I will never fall. I am above everyone else. I am their king. While you, Davey, are just a pawn. You stand no chance against me, Davey. You should have learned that before trying to come back to this company. You will walk out of Sovereign a broken man. Whether it be mental, physical or both, I know I will have done my job. And you will be forgotten, just like that first pawn to die.
What have you done to be losing the one
You held it so tight in your hand
