So let me be the first to say that being sick really, truly, absolutely no doubt about it SUCKS!
Waking up in the middle of the night with a splitting headache and a head that feels like its absolutely on fire really is a pain in the ass. Then once you finally get back to sleep, you wake up a couple hours later hacking up your lungs. You get up and have to go to work half dead and have absolutely no energy to do anything.
However, as I told NCW.com if Michael Jordan can play a basketball game with a fever, basically half dead, then I, because I’m a better man, can defend and unite my two titles as one, also half dead.
So now that brings me to this Sunday live on Pay Per View. I go one on one with Nathan Webb. The winner becomes not just Honor Champion, not just X Champion, but has the NCW History distinction of being the man who united both championships. It becomes the X-Honor Championship.
Now I maybe half dead and even somewhat delirious from the massive fever I’ve had all week BUT I’m pretty sure that to have a unification match, both competitors must have something to put on the line.
That said, I ask…
What is Nathan putting on the line? Why is it that my two titles are being unified as one, and really, I have nothing to gain from this match.
The only thing I’ll get in the end from this match is the fact that I will still be the longest reigning Honor Champion in NCW history after I win.
There’s no satisfaction in beating Nathan Webb.
There’s no satisfaction in retaining my titles while sick.
There’s no satisfaction in still being the longest reigning NCW Honor Champion.
I WANT MORE!
I want to be in the same conversation as Spike Kane, Adam Knite, Brad Kane, Lex Sense, Ricky Johnson, you know, the greats of this company. So that being said, when I finish my business with Nathan this Sunday and unify the two titles currently in my possession, I’m setting my sights higher.
I will do all that is necessary to get to the top of this company and if that means I have to start running through every other person in this company, so be it.

Title: My Life With Sara (Unfinished Business)
Date: August 28, 2006
Location: Rosamond, California
Time: 2:10 PM Western Standard Time
So last you saw, I was headed to California to handle some unfinished business with a certain someone. Well, now I’m here. The flight was long and excruciating as of course I had to sit next to the only mother baby couple on the plane and that kid was screaming like its life was going to end. So I took a day to get re-acclimated with the California lifestyle. Now it was on with the plan.
Ray Gross: So what are you going to do?
Mike Laszlo: Surprise visit sounds good. You still talk to her right?
Ray Gross: Yes sir. I was waiting for her the one day when I took that picture.
Mike Laszlo: I can’t believe she’s that stupid.
Ray Gross: I know, you’ve only been gone a couple of months.
Mike Laszlo: Do me a favor and set up a time for me to visit.
Ray Gross: Alright, hold on.
Picking up the phone, he calls Sara and sets up the arrangement.
Ray Gross: Hey, it’s Ray. I got a surprise for you. You got time today? Alright. Okay. Yeah, I’ll meet you there.
He hangs up the phone and shoves it back in his pocket.
Ray Gross: Alright, she wants to meet at Foster Freeze.
Mike Laszlo: Alright. We’ll drive up and you’ll go in. Then text me and I’ll come in.
Ray Gross: Okay.
We head out of the apartment and down to his car. Heading out of the driveway, we turned to the left and headed down Rosamond Boulevard which went through the entire town right down the middle. About two miles down the road was the Foster Freeze. We pulled into the parking lot and Ray went inside as I waited for the signal. While sitting in the car, I turned my head to the left and could see Sara walking down the street. Slowly I slid down in my seat, leaving my eyes enough room to see her walk up. She wasn’t alone as the same guy in the photos was accompanying her into the restaurant.
Now was my chance. No, stop. Wait for the signal. It was a few moments later that I got the text to come inside.
Mike Laszlo: Alright, here we go.
Stepping out of the car, I headed to the front door. The text said they were to the right and that’s the direction that I went. I could hear them talking around the corner and I think Ray saw me.
Ray Gross: Here’s my surprise.
I turned the corner and he was pointing in my direction. Sara turned and saw my smiling face, and the look on her face was pure shock. You know as well as I do that she wasn’t ever going to expect me to be there, otherwise, she wouldn’t have brought the other guy. I walked up and outstretched my arms, looking for a hug as if nothing had ever happened. Slowly, she eased out of her seat and gave me said hug. Looking over her shoulder with a fake smile, I could tell that the other guy was rather jealous and it made me feel good inside to cause him such discomfort. Looking at him, I could tell I’ve seen him before, but couldn’t really make out who he was. So as Sara withdrew her embrace and sat back down, I had a seat next to her to make the two of them feel that much more uneasy. Keep in mind that just two days earlier she had sent me messages proclaiming her love to me. So I thought it would only be appropriate for me to sit next to her. Wrapping my arm over her shoulder I look across from her at the “other man”.
Mike Laszlo: Who’s this.
I think she was still rather in shock that I was even there, let alone asking about her new lover.
Sara Duggan: This? He’s…uh…Caleb. A good friend of mine.
He goes to extend his hand to greet me.
Caleb Martinez: How’s it going?
Rather than shake his hand, I smile. I think he’s thrown off more than he was before by this as I then look down at his hand, and back up at him.
Mike Laszlo: You want me to shake your hand? How the hell do I know where that thing has been? I got a better idea. How about you move across the table so my girlfriend and I can have a little room?
Out of the corner of my eye I could see Ray trying his hardest not to laugh hysterically. He knew exactly what I was doing and was trying not to blow it. There was an awkward moment again as Caleb looked at Sara and then at me. I couldn’t tell if there was a signal or not, but eventually he moved over, Sara scooted over, and so did I. I looked back and forth between her and Caleb and couldn’t help but notice the strange stares in the silence. So I broke it up.
Mike Laszlo: Surprise!
Sara jumped back a second before realizing that I was just being loud.
Sara Duggan: It certainly is. How long are have you been here?
Mike Laszlo: Got in late last night. You know jetlag, four hour flight, it was just easier on everyone if I saw you today. Then I told Ray it would be a cool surprise for me to just show up somewhere.
Sara Duggan: Well you definitely accomplished that. What are you here for?
Mike Laszlo: You silly.
The real answer was “To catch you in your whore-ish ways.” but I didn’t feel it was the appropriate time to unleash my fury quite yet.
Mike Laszlo: I got sick of instant messaging, and texting and phone calls. A relationship should be you and me together.
Sara Duggan: So you’re staying?
Mike Laszlo: For three weeks. Then I gotta go back and start the college semester.
Sara Duggan: So I have you for three weeks, then it’s back to the same crap?
Mike Laszlo: Crap? You’re the one who wanted to try the long distance thing. If you want, I’ll find a way for you to come too should you desire.
Sara Duggan: Really? You’d do that?
Mike Laszlo: If that’s what you want, then yes.
Her facial expression changed. It wasn’t that cold distant stare I had been presented with earlier. This look was the compassionate look I was use to. The look I got a few months earlier before I left California. It melted my heart. I almost forgot all about the indecency that had taken place…almost.
Mike Laszlo: But there’s one problem.
Sara Duggan: Problem? What problem?
She looked at me startled. She then looked across the table and then back at me once more. I think she knew that I knew. She never did tell me if that was the case.
Mike Laszlo: Yeah. You two. (Pointing between her and Caleb.)
You could tell on her face that she had absolutely no clue that I knew what was going on. She jumped back in the booth.
Sara Duggan: How much do you know?
Mike Laszlo: Well, I probably know a good amount. Here’s the thing, you’re going to tell me everything…RIGHT NOW!
She knew she was caught, and there was only one way to cleanly get out of this. She looked up at Caleb first.
Sara Duggan: I’m sorry to have led you on like this Caleb. Mike is the one I want to be with, and always has been. The long distance thing just made me lonely and so I reached out to the first person who would listen.
He was ready to cry right then and there. I was ready to show no mercy.
Mike Laszlo: So basically, what she’s saying is…get the hell out of here. Nobody likes you. You’re fat, ugly, and look like you came right out of a seventies hippy van. So, with that said…GOODBYE!
He stands out of the chair and leans over the table toward me.
Caleb Martinez: I don’t know who you think you are, but you can’t talk to me that way.
As is the case in the modern day, I was never one to back down from anyone who had a bone to pick with me. So I too stood from the table, leaned over it with both my hands palms down on top, and looked the taller Mexican kid in his eyes through his thick lens glasses.
Mike Laszlo: I’m Mike Laszlo, and I’ll talk to you any way I damn well please. Wanna know why? Because I can back up the words that come out of my mouth. So! That being said…leave before I MAKE YOU LEAVE!
Now for those of you who don’t know about Foster Freeze, its not exactly the best fast food joint in town, but it was the place to hangout on a hot summer day. Our section however wasn’t too crowded for those of you thinking “Why are there no cops yet.”
I could tell he was nervous and didn’t want to make the first move. At the same time however he seemed angered by my comments as anybody would be I assume.
Caleb Martinez: Why don’t you try and make me?
Mike Laszlo: Works for me.
Sara Duggan: Mike, don…
Before she could stop me with her words of wisdom, I quickly raise my hand from the table and slap Caleb right across the face. Before he has a chance to react, Ray gets up from his seat and I take Sara by the hand.
Mike Laszlo: Meet me outside if you want some more.
The three of us head out of the restaurant with the manager yelling at us before the three of us turn and yell “SHUT UP!” Stunned he stomps back inside. We head to Ray’s car and lean against it, waiting for the ego-bruised Mexican to walk out and take his medicine. As we’re sitting there, we can hear the manager inside yelling at Caleb, which causes both Ray and myself to laugh pretty hard. Sara slaps the both of us in a playful manner.
Sara Duggan: You guys are so mean.
She then turns toward me.
Sara Duggan: And yoooou! Mr. Macho. What did you slap him for?
Mike Laszlo: I don’t know, what did you kiss him for?
Her thought process went haywire as I never told her what I knew.
Mike Laszlo: Told you I knew some stuff.
Caleb comes charging out the door and headed in my direction with a look of rage matching that of a bull seeing red.
Mike Laszlo: But that’s not a topic for now. Right now, he gets an ass kicking.
Sara Duggan: Be careful.
Mike Laszlo: Tell him, not me. Ray, keep her out of harm’s way.
Ray Gross: On it.
I take a few steps and am suddenly face to face with Caleb. Before anything can be said, Caleb takes a swing of which I duck before hitting him with a stiff shot to the midsection doubling him over. I then grab him by his long black hair and one time slam his face into the hood of Ray’s car. Caleb falls back and lays unconscious on the ground. There’s blood pouring out of his nose and it is obviously broken. Before anything else can be done, the sirens of the police can be heard a little bit down the road. Sara, Ray, and I jumped in his car and took off. As we pulled out of the driveway and got to the first light, I looked back and saw the cops pulling in. By the time they ever found out who did it, I’d be long gone.
Mike Laszlo: Mission accomplished.
====================
So Nathan, I was really hoping to hear from you before now, but I guess that just wasn’t in the cards. I’m sure than now that I have spoken the first word, you’ll do your best to tear through every word I say, twist it, and turn it back on me.
There’s just one problem.
YOU CAN’T!
Nothing that I’ve said today is wrong by any stretch of the imagination.
You are putting nothing on the line and quite frankly, I feel that that is wrong. I’m putting everything on the line, and in the end will simply leave with everything that I put on the line. I’m not the longest reigning Honor Champion for no reason after all.
You see, Nathan, this is when I’m at my absolute best. When something of mine is on the line, and I’m backed into a corner. NCW brass knows this. That’s why you don’t see me defending my titles on Collision or Trauma. They want my best to be live and on Pay Per View.
Mike Laszlo’s Best brings in ratings like no other. You being in the match…is simply an after thought.
I’ll see you this Sunday, and you better come prepared.
Prepared to lose.
Your best, isn’t as good as me on my sickest day, and I’ll prove it Sunday where fever or not I will CONTINUE ON as the longest reigning Honor Champion in NCW History.
