[Adam hangs off his door frame, wearing a pair of those boots that you can hang from and do crunches... whatever they are called, getting in a quick workout with some crunches. However, this is cut short when Kelly walks into the room, sees her husband there and smiles at him. Adam pulls up and notices her on his way and blurts out.]
Adam: One thousand and four...
[Kelly laughs softly to her herself, but it doesn’t go without catching Adam’s eye, who pulls himself up and unlatches himself before leaping down back to the floor. He makes his way over to her and gives her a quick kiss.]
Adam: Hey, I thought you would be asleep by now?
Kelly: Nah... heard the sounds of some big gorilla beating down my front door frame... I didn’t realize it was just you.
Adam: **Iaughs** ha ha... sorry.
Kelly: It’s fine, I was having trouble sleeping anyway.
Adam: Kelly.... Trent will get the job done and if not... well then a vacant title isn’t going to be the end of the world.
Kelly: But it will be the first time the NCW title has been vacant... ON MY WATCH. I want to do a great job, I want to take NCW further than my father did and not having a Champion to represent the company, sending the company into chaos wondering what was going to happen, is NOT a way to accomplish that!
Adam: I’m positive, that no matter what happens.. you’ll do your best with it and push through. That’s just who you are, it’s why we wanted you in charge in the first place. Seeing you like this now... just reminds me of that even more.
[Kellly smiles.]
Kelly: So you no longer want to see your sister overthrow me?
Adam: I’m sorry Kel, I lost my head... I know better than ever doubt you.
Kelly: Yes. You do. but, I’ll forgive you... just this once.
Adam: Well thanks... and just try and relax ok, it’s going to be fine.
[Kelly lifts her eyebrows now, this can’t be good for Adam as she’s about to come back at him with something and he knows.]
Kelly: Funny how that is coming from you.
Adam: What is that supposed to mean?
Kelly: You telling me to relax... I mean look who is doing hanging crunches at midnight. Somebody else has their mind set on something too. Maybe somebody who is fighting one of his best friends very soon?
Adam: Me? Dwelling... concerned, worried.. whatever... about Kanyon? Kelly Please. What do you take me for?
Kelly: You’re telling me this working out non stop for a week has nothing to do with Kanyon?
Adam: Of course not... just trying to fit into some old jeans. Gotta get rid fo this pudge around the waist is all.
Kelly: Yeah Adam.... It’s going to be ok too, but maybe you should think about treating him like a friend and not like a servant however, ok?
[Adam doesn’t say anything, he just nods his head as we simply fade away.]
You know Curtis...
Many times I’ve looked down at this title that wraps itself around my waist and I’ve thought to myself “what’s the point.” I’ve held the world championship, I’ve been in the Hall of Fame, I’ve wrestled all around the world and become a legend in the entire business. Here I am, holding a secondary championship... holding a Joe Everyman championship, defending it on my Picture Perfect show, in a match that is being overshadowed by Trent Helms, Brad Kane, Lex Sense and even Jenny effin Williams. A match that has gone completely overlooked, gone completely unnoticed... What does this belt, mean to me? What does this belt mean for my career... my legacy? I keep looking for a reason, for a purpose to hold this title and be happy about it, keep a reason to go on and be a good little camper, but I just can’t.
I’m National Champion.
and I don’t care.
I got my triple crown achievement I wanted. I got what I cared about now and now... it’s just a piece of tin.
It still even has the name of Alex Jones on the nameplate for christ-sakes!
If you think for a minute that what I care about is this belt Kanyon, you’re wrong. I don’t even want to see you try and imply those words. I don’t care about this leather strap, i don’t care about being the champion. It does nothing for me, just look at our billing on the show, just look at where we stand, we aren’t main eventing, we aren’t being put into a Master of Horrors... it’s just the token National title match and nobody but us seems to really give a damn. You think I don’t know that we’re fighting for more than this belt, you think I don’t realize that this title isn’t why you’re facing me in this match? I’m not even going to justify that with a response if that’s the case. I’m not going to even entertain that as a possibility because I know you couldn’t possibly be that dumb.
If I wasn’t contractually obligated to defend this, it wouldn’t even be on the line. Like I did with Alex, I could go on about how I am going to have your name engraved on this title and tell you how it’s just yours if you want it. However, I know it’s meaningless, you know it’s meaningless, we’re both above the belts, we’re both well past caring for this red, white, and blue trinket. We’re both men fighting for pride... both men fighting for more than gold... this I know more than anything isn’t about a title.
Kanyon... this is about us, this is about me and you. JackHammer here... he doesn’t mean anything. This title doesn’t mean anything. I’m in this match, for you Curtis. For what you did, for what you refused to do. You want to show me the light, no... i’m going to open your eyes and show you that my path... is the right one, my way, is the correct way. Show you Curtis that you made the biggest mistake of your life by turning down my chance at having you at my side again. Sure you were going to be my enforcement, you were going to be the King’s knight, but it’s a role you would have thrived in, a role you would have excelled in.
You will see what YOU did wrong.
YOU will come to me and beg me for forgiveness.
YOU will see that I was right all along...
and I will think about letting you back as my court jester.
And JackHammer why do you insist on pretending that you mean something to this match?
You’re just the guy who got in the way, you’re just in the wrong place at the wrong time, collateral damage is all you are. What do you want here? Do you want an apology for me costing you a match with Curtis? Do you want me to say I’m sorry because I had Curtis smash your skull in... AFTER you attacked me? What is it Hammer? huh? This National title....
Wait! That’s it, maybe I can engrave your name on it, and then I can finally find somebody who will accept this belt, unlike damn Alex Jones.
So here you go Hammer, if this will make you happy. Take it if you want it. Pull it from my hands, hold it high above your head and scream at the top of your lungs about how great you are. If that is what will finally make you shut up and get off my back. If that is what will make you stop getting in the way of me and Curtis. If it will get you to back away so me and Curtis can settle this like men. Then fine. Here.
Just remember though, that this is the only reason that you took this from me, thsi is the only way that you could have stripped me of that belt. Just because I was sick of dealing with you, sick of seeing your face when I am trying to get Curtis to see that what I was saying was the right thing to do. I’m sick of you being a pain in my ass...
[Suddenly Adam is cut off from his monologue as we are jolted back to reality where we see Adam standing in front of Kelly in a very awkward scene with Kelly standing there with her head cocked to the side glaring at her husband.]
Adam: What?
Kelly: Is there anything you want to tell me? Something I should know about you?
Adam: Like....?
Kelly: I don’t know, you’re whole monologue thing is sounding very Elton John’y right now. If you catch my drift.
Adam: WHAT!?
Kelly: You’re talking about another man getting between you and Kanyon... getting in your way of being together? And lets not forget that beauty of how you only care about Kanyon.... It’s really... umm... fruity.
Adam: There’s nothing fruity about being friends.
Kelly: Yeah. Whatever you say. I’m going to bed.
Adam: I’m not gay!
Kelly: Sure you aren’t... that’s why you have GQ’s number in your phone?
Adam: He’s not gay either!
Kelly: **laughs** I’m just sayin’ Adam.
[Kelly just kinda shrugs her shoulders and smiles before she walks by Adam and heads towards the back of the house and the bedroom. Adam turns and looks at the camera and we fade to black as Adam turns and chases after his wife.]
Adam: One thousand and four...
[Kelly laughs softly to her herself, but it doesn’t go without catching Adam’s eye, who pulls himself up and unlatches himself before leaping down back to the floor. He makes his way over to her and gives her a quick kiss.]
