Spike TV Season 2 Episode 3: A Knite With Spike
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First of all I would like to take the time to apologise for the lack of Spike TV last week. I know some of you cannot survive without your weekly dose of The God of Xtreme's opinions. I had quite a busy week, and with some scheduling issues with Kelly, myself, and getting Xbox Live working again last week, plus an unplanned saturday night out, things didn't go as planned.
Regardless, we had a pretty epic two weeks in the land of nCw, both Collision and Trauma have seen the build up to A New Dawn taking a whole new level. We've seen feuds heating up, superb showings of wrestling ability, and some personal comments being made. If you aren't looking forward to A New Dawn, then you must not be paying attention!
Roberto Verona Vs Xavier Williams– Arguably two of my favourite superstars in nCw. I've stood by them both at different times in my career, and I for one was eagerly anticipating this match up. In a very “segment heavy” episod of Collision, they showed us what two superstars are capable of.
Homeless Harold and Andrew Jacobsen vs. Falcon and Lex Sense – So Lex gets this award two time in a row. Should that say enough about the shenanigans he constantly finds himself involved in? And don't get me started on Harold. Kelly must have flipped when she made this match, expecting this to be a a “slobberknocker” just once...can we have a main event that, y'know...ends properly?
Joe Everyman raised his game and showed us what he is capable of.
The Ace and Charlie Velez put on a great match, narrowly losing out on Match of the Week.
Nina Watts picking up her first victory here in nCw!
Phillip Burns returns to winning ways.
Todd Williams is gone, for good! Yes! → This is staying for a while, let it sink in and enjoy it. <---Still here.
That INSANE six person tag match was incredibly hard to follow.
Megan and Nina to go at it at A New Dawn!? Oh, this has to be awesome!
Kelly Knite continuing her dastardly ways.<---and this sticks!
Zero Tolerance returning....~yawn~
Main Event shenanigans again.
Jenny Williams being on my TV screen.
Losing to Joe Everyman.
Segment-o-rama.
Megan being on my TV...
My version of the fab five. The five people who stood out this last week.
5: KELLY KNITE: As much as I despise how she is acting and the way she is going about things, you cannot deny that Kelly is getting things done! She has an agenda and is trying to make us believe it is in nCw's best interest. I can only hope....<--I hate to do it, but this is staying right here.
4: XAVIER CROSS: Why? Because I like the guy. He returned to nCw and started kicking up a fuss right off the bat. He got in Adam's face when so many people were to scared to do so, and he's been impressive on the screen, what more could you ask for?
3: CHARLIE VELEZ Velez remains after picking up an impressive victory over The Ace (despite losing to moi the week before ) It seems though that Charlie may have something in store for nCw if his backstage segments are to be believed.
2: HOMELESS HAROLD It's mad enough that he once again holds the world title, after it took so long to take it from him. However since his sister has been under Kelly's control, Harold really has become unstoppable, and after securing the win for his team he is the strong favourite going into A New Dawn.
1: JOE EVERYMAN: Joe brought it this week and toppled yours truly, The God of Xtreme, in an xtreme rules match. Needless to say, Joe has always had my respect, but I think this week he earned some more. Not to mention the segments he was involved in with Will Washington..
Welcome to Straight Shootin' where this week we have a special guest indeed, Kelly Knite takes time out of her busy schedule to join us!
Q. What is it like having full control of nCw once again? What is a typical day in the life of Kelly Knite like?
A. I felt a bit uneasy at first... like there was a lot of responsibility on my shoudlers to not screw a good thing up, but over time with the help of a few people I realized that it just about being myself, doing my best, and making sure that I put NCW above my own personal feelings. Take the Ricky Johnson scenerio for example... where I would have loved to seen him walk off into the sunset... but what was best for NCW wasn't that situation. I'd say right now... my life is pretty boring, a lot of paper work, a lot of trying to keep this company flowing smoothly. I wake up, spend a couple of hours with my husband and daughter before we drop her off at my mom's and then we split up... me going to work here at the office, him heading up his training facility... then when it's over we come home. I think people expect me to live this exotic life style now that I have all this power, but really it just means a ton more responsibility. It's hard trying to balance that while still putting your business first. A lot of stress, but luckily Adam is there always offering to help with that, so that's good.
Q. Do you ever find it hard to balance the relationship you have with Adam when it comes to being his wife and his boss?
A. Not really...because I'm not "his boss"... he's my husband and we're in this side by side as a team not a boss and employee situation. And if anybody has an issue with that... I equally don't care. I'm allowed to be happy and if anybody thinks why he succeds is because he's married to me... obviously hasn't been watching wrestling for the past 15 years. It was a little weird at first when I would see his paycheck laying there for me to sign, I'll say that, it just felt wrong to be signin it and to giving it to him, but we got over that... now we don't even bother with it. He's my husband and everythign is 50/50 you know, so he's more like partner who happens to wrestle, just like I'm the "owner" who happens to wrestle. We're in this together and I know this, so that helps a lot now that we don't have to view me as his "boss."
Q. With the on-screen antics that have happened recently, some people find it hard to distinguish between reality, and the storyline. Does it ever get to you?
A. No. Why would it? Blinding the lines is what this is all about. That's what wrestling used to be about, the aura and the mystique of the "is it" or "isn't it" reality... that's what it needs to be about again.
Q. A lot of the women in nCw have been voicing their opinions on how Steve is "running" the starlet's division and have taken to doing things there own way, as a former starlet's champion, what is your opinion on it all?
A. That's the beauty of it... if you don't like it, you can stand up for yourself and voice your opinions. I as the owner of this company love it... I love seeing them stand up and fight him and I love seeing him fight back. It brings a lot of interesting conflict that really catches peoples eyes, brings in a lot of viewers wondering what is going to happen next and you can't beat coverage like that. Deep down, I know Steve is trying to do what is right, he's trying to make a more interesting a diverse product, try and get a different audiance to view these Starlet matches and that's fine... but if you're asking what I would do personally? I would be right there with Alysson fighting it all the way, and as a wrestler in his division... I may end up in that situation.
Q. With the fans choice PPV coming up, do you have any more ways for the fans to interact with the show?
A. We've got a good thing planned where we're going to let the fans vote on a special stipulation for the match between Adam and Xavier cross. I think that should be a fun feature for everybody to get into.
Q. As a promoter, worker, and commentator, on a personal level how did it feel to be able to say that Ricky Johnson would be joining the Hall of Fame. I know your father did the announcement, but it obviously came through you...
A. Ricky Johnson has been a key part of NCW for years. For years he was the most decorated wrestler in NCW history as far as Championships went... except he had never won the world title. Seeing him win the Colosseum, then seeing him go on and take the World title and finally get over that hump after trying so hard against Steve Awesome last year... it was amazing. There was so much emotion in his eyes, on his face and the fans reacted to it amazingly. There were so many people I could have chosen from... but at the end of the day it just felt right to induct him after such a storied NCW career he had, and it made me proud to say that I had been there for all of it, watching him succeed and always backing him.
Q. Five years Kelly, I can't even imagine how that must make you and your family feel. Honestly, it's been an honor for me to be included in such a majority of that time, but you've been a constant here in nCw throughout that.....what can you even say about it?
A. Thanks, and my father still says NCW would not be here today if it wasn't for you and Lance Ryan, he's got a ton of respect for both of you... It's hard to beleive some times it's been so long, I think back on it and I was only 23 when this company started, just a kid, and have seen this company and lives grow so much. Just look at me... married with a beautiful daughter. Look at you, married again, this time with Alysson Gardner. Things have grown and evolved so much that it just really makes you stop and think abou thow truly special these past five years have been. From The Empire to the Young Guns, from Lance Ryan and yourself to Ricky Johnson and Xander Famularo... just thinking about all the stories and all the amazing events we've put on, just makes me look on with awe. I don't know where NCW will be in the next five years, but if those years are anything like the first five, I know for a fact that they are goign to be amazing.
Q. If you had to, if you could, what would be your all time favourite nCw moment that didn't directly involve you?
A. My favorite NCW moment? There are way too many to pick from Spike. I could give some cliche answer like the first ever Road to the Gold finals, or maybe even name off something like Ricky Johnson winning the World title, but whatever I said would leave so many other amazing moments out there. If I had to chose just one moment in NCW that I think defined what being an NCW Star is all about... I'd have to pick the Colisseum match where Will Washington is practically dead... being hauled off into an ambulance... but refuses. He comes back down to that ring, after being thrown off the top of a 20 foot cage and somehow managed to win that match.... that's what it's all about right there. That's the type of moment everybody wishes for in this company. The heart, the determination, the passion, the fire, the will to win... that is what being a part of NCW is all about.
Q. And one that did?
A. Oh come on... I know everybody is going to expect me to name off winning the Starlets title, finally becoming a world champion for the first time in my career... but I think for me, personally... my favorite moment that actually directly involved me... was seeing Adam versus Steve in that Iron Man match. When Adam put Steve in my move, in my submission... the move he taught me... to try and free me from Steve and get his wife back, seeing that.... I was in tears. It was an amazing tribute, a fantastic sight to see how far two men would go... like I said about Will Washington, it's just amazing to think about the heart some people put into this business.
Q. Is there anyone that you never got the chance to work with that you really would like to?
A. As far as women go? I think I would enjoy a match against former Bitches with Attitude member, Rayne. She was tough as hell, a mom who had seen it all and didn't back down from anybody. I think she would be a tough challenge, plus she just seems like what I would become if I didn't have Adam at my side, so that would be cool.
Now as far as the guys... I don't think I've ever done anything with Joe Everyman outside of trash him constantly in my old Knitelife column. I'd think a one on one match with Everyman would be cool, but I think it would be fun to work a story with him too. Maybe I could coax something extra from him too, get him to live up to that potential finally.
Q. Of all the shows that tried to carry the torch after Kniteline had to shut down, which has been your favourite?
A. The Pasturing Prairie... simply because the name and the premise for that name was so absurd on so many levels. It was ridiculously campy, but it was funny because of it.
Q. Ok, as a both a wrestler and a commentator how would you rate your time in this business?
A. Oh, nobody will ever be able to match my quick wit and smartalicly retorts behind the commentary table. hee hee 10/10 I was the best. But as far as being a wrestler goes... I really need to focus on being out there more often and really do more for the division as a whole... 7/10, simply because was champion for over 100 days, but I still need a lot of work before I hit 10.
Q. And how would you rate your time in nCw?
A. 10. No way around it.
Straight Shootin' With Kelly Knite!
=============
Welcome to Straight Shootin' where this week we have a special guest indeed, Kelly Knite takes time out of her busy schedule to join us!
Q. What is it like having full control of nCw once again? What is a typical day in the life of Kelly Knite like?
A. I felt a bit uneasy at first... like there was a lot of responsibility on my shoudlers to not screw a good thing up, but over time with the help of a few people I realized that it just about being myself, doing my best, and making sure that I put NCW above my own personal feelings. Take the Ricky Johnson scenerio for example... where I would have loved to seen him walk off into the sunset... but what was best for NCW wasn't that situation. I'd say right now... my life is pretty boring, a lot of paper work, a lot of trying to keep this company flowing smoothly. I wake up, spend a couple of hours with my husband and daughter before we drop her off at my mom's and then we split up... me going to work here at the office, him heading up his training facility... then when it's over we come home. I think people expect me to live this exotic life style now that I have all this power, but really it just means a ton more responsibility. It's hard trying to balance that while still putting your business first. A lot of stress, but luckily Adam is there always offering to help with that, so that's good.
Q. Do you ever find it hard to balance the relationship you have with Adam when it comes to being his wife and his boss?
A. Not really...because I'm not "his boss"... he's my husband and we're in this side by side as a team not a boss and employee situation. And if anybody has an issue with that... I equally don't care. I'm allowed to be happy and if anybody thinks why he succeds is because he's married to me... obviously hasn't been watching wrestling for the past 15 years. It was a little weird at first when I would see his paycheck laying there for me to sign, I'll say that, it just felt wrong to be signin it and to giving it to him, but we got over that... now we don't even bother with it. He's my husband and everythign is 50/50 you know, so he's more like partner who happens to wrestle, just like I'm the "owner" who happens to wrestle. We're in this together and I know this, so that helps a lot now that we don't have to view me as his "boss."
Q. With the on-screen antics that have happened recently, some people find it hard to distinguish between reality, and the storyline. Does it ever get to you?
A. No. Why would it? Blinding the lines is what this is all about. That's what wrestling used to be about, the aura and the mystique of the "is it" or "isn't it" reality... that's what it needs to be about again.
Q. A lot of the women in nCw have been voicing their opinions on how Steve is "running" the starlet's division and have taken to doing things there own way, as a former starlet's champion, what is your opinion on it all?
I love seeing them stand up and fight him and I love seeing him fight back. It brings a lot of interesting conflict that really catches peoples eyes, brings in a lot of viewers wondering what is going to happen next and you can't beat coverage like that. I would be right there with Alysson fighting it all the way, and as a wrestler in his division... I may end up in that situation.
Q. With the fans choice PPV coming up, do you have any more ways for the fans to interact with the show?
A. We've got a good thing planned where we're going to let the fans vote on a special stipulation for the match between Adam and Xavier cross. I think that should be a fun feature for everybody to get into.
Q. As a promoter, worker, and commentator, on a personal level how did it feel to be able to say that Ricky Johnson would be joining the Hall of Fame. I know your father did the announcement, but it obviously came through you...
A. Ricky Johnson has been a key part of NCW for years. For years he was the most decorated wrestler in NCW history as far as Championships went... except he had never won the world title. It's hard to beleive some times it's been so long, I think back on it and I was only 23 when this company started, just a kid, and have seen this company and lives grow so much.
