[We open up to a freeze frame shot of Simon and Sydney’s first ever kiss, Sydney in his arms, looking happy for the first time in a very long while.]
I was on the border of giving up on everything...
of ever believing my name and face meant anything...
I felt that I was gone... yet...
There is something...
Maybe you and Simon are right...
Maybe there is something worth fighting for...
[Sydney and Simon pull away from each other, not for a single moment removing their eyes from each other’s glaze. Sydney is biting her bottom lip cutely, a sight we haven’t seen for several months, without her mask on. She steps closer and puts her forehead on his chest and Simon puts his arms around her quickly, before they pull away again, both seemingly unable to decide if they want to separate.]
Simon: You’re so beautiful...
[She turns her head to the side as she blushes, smiling to herself. However, she looks towards where Kelly walked earlier and sighs, before turning back around and putting her mask back on.]
Sydney: I’m sorry... Kelly is going to start looking for me, if I don’t get there soon.
[She slowly slides the mask back over her face as she smiles at Simon standing there, looking at her with a twinkle in his eyes that just causes her to almost melt.]
Sydney: Just... find me after the show ok?
Simon: of course.
[Sydney smiles and turns away, running to catch up with Kelly, but she refuses to take her eyes off Simon the whole time until Simon is clearly out of sight. She catches up with Kelly’s crew, almost bumping into the back of one of the security guards. Kelly turns back and looks at Sydney tries to act like she isn’t smiling from ear to ear. Kelly hits the breaks and lets the security go ahead as she walks besides her little sister-in-law.]
Kelly: What’s so funny?
Sydney: Nothing.
Kelly: You’re smiling for a reason... and are you blushing?
Sydney: It’s just hot in here.
Kelly: It clearly isn’t... whatever... I don’t care... look, tonight... we’re taking Crystal out.
[Sydney suddenly stops dead in her tracks at what Kelly just said.]
Sydney: Wait, what are you talking about?
Kelly: Look, I’m sick of her hanging around, I’m just telling you now, get prepared and don’t cause a scene because we’re going to put her down once and for all.
Sydney: But she hasn’t done anything...
Kelly: No, she has and I’m sick of seeing it. I’m done with it and it’s about time she got that message.
Sydney: You can’t...
[Kelly spins around and shoves her index finger right into the middle fo Sydney’s chest, angrily.]
Kelly: I can’t do what? Are you forgetting who calls the shots around here, are you forgetting what you have to do to get that mask off and your name back?! Or maybe I should remind you who you’re working for...
Sydney: But...
Kelly: You just follow me lead out there and don’t give me any lip... or you’ll find yourself out on the street faster than a Crystal Hilton bargain bin direct to DVD movie. Got it?
[Sydney lowers her head the smile and overall happy mood she was in for a few fleeting minutes seems to be all but gone.]
Sydney: Yes.
Kelly: yes what?
Sydney: *sigh* yes ma’am.
Kelly: Good, now come on... we gotta go meet Cyrus and Stephen.
Sydney: Oh god no...
Kelly: What was that?
Sydney: nothing.
[Kelly motions Sydney to keep up with her as she pushes through the security detail and back to the front of the line so to speak. We fade to black as Sydney, sad looks at the ground and nothing else around here, blankly.]
...then again...
maybe now.
**sigh**
