nCw.com has released footage of an interview with former Starlets Tag Team Champion, Mercedes Vargas, at this past Saturday's Trauma, which wasn't aired on the live broadcast in Hartford, Connecticut. The segment takes place before her Starlets Road to the Gold Tournament first-round match against Skye Armanni, which was won by Vargas later on that night.

Carly Robbins: Well, for what seemed like an eternity, the wait is finally over. It’s that time of year again: Road to the Gold. For the next few weeks, the number one contenders to the NCW World and World Starlets Championships will be determined, where they will meet their respective champions at our next NCW pay-per-view event, Road to the Gold VI in November. For 16 NCW Superstars and, for the first time-ever, 16 Starlets, that journey begins tonight. I’m here with former NCW Starlets Tag Team Champion, Mercedes Vargas. And Mercedes, for the second straight year, you find yourself in the Starlets Road to the Gold, and I’m sure you would like last year’s performance to be a distant memory.
Mercedes Vargas: Well, that’s a nice way of putting it, Carlene, because while I would like to forget being ousted in the first round by none other than that drama queen, Crystal Hilton, I barely remembered my match with Kathleen Conway at the pre-show at Road to the Gold V. This past April, I returned from being sidelined for the better part of six months. They say that time heals all wounds. Oh yeah? Well, try saying that when a concussion very well could have ended your career. Now, I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking that what happened to Kathleen at Battlegrounds was karma at work, and I can see how some people may even say that, but the truth is Kathleen is still my best friend. And Alysson Gardner...
{Mercedes turns to the camera, her expression changing into a serious one}
Mercedes Vargas: you are my worst enemy. I just found out that despite Kat’s injury, she’s defied doctor’s orders and will compete in the tournament. Who knows, maybe she might get through to the next round, and possibly face you in the tournament. But if she doesn’t, I hope I’ll get that chance in the tournament finals, Alysson, because nothing would give me the greatest pleasure than getting back at you for what you did at Battlegrounds.
Carly Robbins: Well, Mercedes, I can understand your frustrations right now, and you have every right to be, but in order for that scenario to happen, you first will have to focus on your first-round match against a familiar opponent in Skye Armanni. Now, you’ve been on a roll lately here on Trauma, having won your last four matches. What can Skye expect from you as you try to continue your winning streak?
Mercedes Vargas: You really want to know, Carly? OK, I'll tell you what she can expect, because I have something I would like to share.
Carly Robbins: Well, OK. I guess I'll, uh, get out of your way, then.
{Carly stands a respectful distance away as the camera zooms in to focus on Mercedes. She pulls out a folded piece of paper from her wrestling top}
Mercedes Vargas: It’s a poem I wrote while on my way to the arena. I had to copy it from paper napkins.
{Unfolding it, she smooths it over and then clears her throat}
Mercedes Vargas: {reading} So the Battle Grounds pay-per-view came and went
I have to say, after my match I really was spent
These fans tonight, they sympathize with, “Aw, Poor Mercy.
Alas, she lost her title match in East Rutherford, New Jersey”
Is Jennifer Williams still a joke? Well, let me answer that with an emphatic, “YES! YES! YES!”
She probably thought she was now important, but no one could care less.
But that’s okay, sweetheart, because the Road to the Gold Tournament is here
And come pay-per-view time, I’ll be sure to see you there.
As I look at the names in the bracket, I see there is no equal
Skye Armanni, I beat you before, and I’ll do it again in the sequel
When it comes to first impressions, at first you looked all spacey
You’re not an original, you’re just another Malibu Stacy
In our last match, the one mistake is I left you alive
So you can suffer again with the Black…Rose…Overdrive
If you think you have a remote chance of beating me
Please, follow Alysson’s advice and seek therapy
Long has it been said that blonds aren’t very smart
And you made a bad decision it would seems, sweetheart
So, for anyone expecting to see a wrestling match, I’m so, so, sorry
“Don’t you wish you were me?” Uh, no, I wouldn’t, Skye Armanni
{Mercedes looks up from her poem and to the camera lens as a smirk crosses her face, and our scene fades out back to the arena in time for the next match.}

It is worth nothing that Cynthia Warren advanced to the next round in a surprise upset of Ayla St. James, one-third of Bitches With Attitude, earlier in the evening. This now sets up Warren and Vargas facing each other in one of the four quarterfinal matches scheduled for this weekend as Charity Case takes on Megan Sanderson on Trauma, while Collision has the Warren/Vargas matchup, and will also see Vargas' fellow Opportunity tag partner Kathleen Conway versus Freya Kane, and Sydney Knite battles Shelly Taylor Jones.
