*We open in on Curtis D. Kanyon's locker room. Obsidian is walking up to an arm chair from behind, nachos in hand. The camera swoops around to see Curtis sitting in said chair, with fist to chin, in deep concentration. Obsidian eats a few nachos, and the crunching sound disturbs Curtis's concentration, causing him to wince in audio pain.*
Curtis: Can I help you?
Obsidian: Just hanging out.
Curtis: Why don't you do something important?
Obsidian: Thinking about it. What are you thinking about?
Curtis: My match with Dexter Davis. My most recent partner.
Obsidian: Ah, another team blow up, huh? Another former friend you must fight.
Curtis: Yes and no. I like Dex, he's cool, and he 's pretty darn good at Stratego. But we weren't really an official team. We were thrown together after my other thrown together partner was removed from the thrown together tournament. But you know, It takes, different strokes to move the world, and we tried. I don't know if Dex considers me a friend, I'm not even sure if I consider him a friend, but I do respect him and I do wish him well in his future here at NCW. He's done a lot to make himself a damn good wrestler, and I look forward to fighting him in what is sure to be a classic battle. We will make Thor proud at Road to the Gold VI.
Obsidian: Then what's the problem?
Curtis: Well...I'm the X Champion, and I have no qualms in defending my title whenever, wherever, against whoever, but when this title is on the line, when any title of mine is on the line, I go above and beyond full boar. I'm vicious and crazy as is, but when I'm a champion with something to lose, I get even crazier. And like I said, I like Dex, I respect him, and honestly, I'm afraid I'll shorten his career.
Obsidian: You...afraid...shorten? Am I hearing this right? You're Curtis Kanyon. You're whole gimmick used to be that you were frothing at the mouth, ranting about shortening everyone's careers! I mean, Lance Ryan is still out of commission because of you. Phillip Burns has never been the same after you got through with him. Not to mention all the little footnotes in wrestling history along the way.
Curtis: Yeah, but that was before my epiphany. Before the mighty one came into my life. He loves battle, he loves the fight. If I run around ending everyone's careers, that's less people out there duking it out, giving him epic battles. Even then, Dexter helped me to deliver epic battles, so out of respect for that, I would not want to end him.
Obsidian: Okay, but...he knew what he was signing up for when he became a wrestler. Besides, did you even see what he said earlier? He totally threw you under the bus man.
Curtis: Yeah, I saw it, but I wouldn't say--
Obsidian: He totally blamed you for the loss dude.
Curtis: ...well then...
*Curtis stands up out of the chair, the X Championship glimmers from around his waist. He looks at Obsidian.*
Curtis: Our match was a tag team match. Was the tag blind, yeah? That meant I didn't see it. But as my partner, Dexter should have at least seen me getting pinned and jumped in instead of standing on the apron. The point of my partner is to watch my back, and not just stand there and watch, but actually do something about it. Dexter wants to blame me for getting pinned? I got pinned sure, but I guess it's better than standing on the apron, looking like a goof, wondering what's going on. That is why I'm a tag team master. He wishes to see who the weak link is from our team? I can already tell you it's him. I went through two rounds of this tournament before getting knocked off, he went through one. I am a multi-time tag team champion, he is a none time tag team champion. A singles match between us won't prove the tag team weak link, it's a different type of match, it's a different animal all together. Those that aren't masters of the tag team style never realize that.
Obsidian: I know that, I'm an amazing tag team--I mean...I have a friend that's an amazing tag team wrestler.
Curtis: I don't mean to put down Dex, but he's still got some learnin' to do. He's been X Champion, and of his own admission, he didn't know what to do with it when he had it. He wants to rectify that, and I totally understand that, I was hoping to do the same thing with the Road to the Gold tournament. But like I was denied, he too will be denied. He may be well versed in the X-Division style that this championship amalgamly represents, but I am well versed in the other half, the Xtreme style. Hel, I am the King of Xtreme! I will run through Dexter, whether he believes it or not, if I get the opportunity, I will run through him...with a BANG!
*Obsidian nods in agreement, then eats some more nachos.*
Curtis: I know Dexter is tough, I know he's capable, but I am Curtis D. Kanyon! Champion of Thor! Through Hel or high water, I will give the all mighty one a battle he can be proud of, and I will stand tall holding that X Championship up in glory. You can waste away sitting here eating nachos. Me, I have other plans. Dexter can prepare for this match with tickle fights, but I'm off to the gym to truly prepare for this epic battle. Get out of my way!
*Curtis pushes past Obsidian and heads on out to the workout area. Obsidian stands there, looks down at his nachos, then back up at the door.*
Obsidian: He's right, I am wasting away here eating nachos. I need to get out and do something!
*Obsidian is about to throw the plate of nachos on the ground, but stops himself.*
Obsidian: No, I can still eat these and do something. I need to find GQ...
*The scene fades out.*
