The camera fades in on John Anthony sitting in his basement with a cardboard box in front of him. In this box there is a bunch of sport memorabilia; old ones and new ones. John grabs a beer bottle off of the table next to him and takes a swig. Sets it down and looks at the camera and begins to speak.
Anthony: Why does everyone want to know what I have done? Why does that matter to the task that is at hand? The National Title is up for grabs when Joe Everyman puts it on the line against JFK and me. What have I done people are asking? Do I really have to do this I think so. JFK you keep asking this question to me but what have you done? I think we are about equal. I have been Lance Ryan when he was champ and Spike Kane when he was champ. To me that is pretty damn good. Oh wait I just remembered did you watch Collision this past week? If you did I beat the X-Division champion also. Who is next? Joe Everyman!!!! JFK I have sweat and shed more blood than you. I am an nCw original if you should say. I have been here since the beginning and no matter what I am not going anywhere. I have a mission to accomplish and the way I look at it you’re in my way. I am tired of hearing your mouth. Pay your dues and when you get an opportunity take it and run with it. I was given this opportunity because I have paid my dues and then some. I have beaten three champions two of them world champions. Pretty good resume up until this point.
John grabs his beer next to him and chugs it and slams it down. You would think that the bottle would break. John is pulling trophies and plaques out of this box but there is something missing. There is nothing from the nCw. John looks at the camera and begins to speak.
Anthony: You are right JFK not titles on my list but I do have a great list of matches I have been through. Win or lose I still gave it my all. I have been in some great opportunities well this is another one of John Anthony. You and Joe are in my way JFK. No matter what you say or do I have one thing on my mind and that is to get the win. One of us will walk out with two things. One someone will get their hand raised at the end. Two well that is a title around their waist! For you and me it could be the first time. It may have taken me a little longer to figure out what I wanted here in the nCw. Up until recently I can tell you and Joe that I have been focused as ever. By the way I know all about the Empire as I was one of the first members there. I would advise you to get out of there immediately. Its nothing but crap! All you are is a pawn in their game. They have an idea and you’re just a puppet as they control you. I know I have been there. They told me they tried to help me all they did was ruin me and turned me into someone I am not. If you want to follow that road of crapiness yes I just made a new word then be my guest. All I know is you better be ready for some good old fashioned fighting come this Sunday.
John walks over to the fridge grabs another beer and shuts the fridge door. We twist off the cap to the bottle and throw the cap in the bag of garbage. John walks over to the window where there is some sunshine shinning down on the ground. John looks out the window and just smiles. He walks back over to his chair and sets his beer down and begins to speak.
Anthony: I have had the opportunity to just reflect on my career so far and its un accomplished. It’s not what I wanted in a career. That is why everything I have will go into this one match. Three way dance for the National title. Joe Everyman. What can I say you and I have had some strong words in the past? As you and I were stable mates. You didn’t like that I wanted to leave and so it left a bad taste in your mouth I don’t care. For me it wasn’t like I didn’t like everyone just my views and the Empires views were different. I needed to do some stuff on my own well look at where I am at now. If I stayed with the Empire I wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to get this chance. Maybe later on in my career it would have been something I would have done differently but right now I needed to be on my own. I need to do the things I need to do.
John sets his beer back down and sits back in the chair he is sitting in. He reaches in his left pocket and pulls out his phone. He looks at for a few minuets and then it rings. You see and hear John talking on the phone. He tells the person he is in the basement of his house and he closes the phone. You hear someone walking upstairs and then open the door to the basement. As they are walking down the steps you hear the clang of their shoes on the wooden steps. He turns the corner and he begins to speak.
Jason: Hey brother what is going on?
John: Just looking at some old things down here.
Jason: Is everything alright?
John: Yeah. I am just trying to get my head straight for the weekend. Big match you know.
Jason: I know. This is why we are in the business. Titles and great match what more do you need?
John: Yeah you are right Jason. This is why we are here. There is only one thing left for me to do. I need to win the whole damn thing. I can’t lose and always say there is tomorrow. I have been down that road before and you know what I don’t want to do it again. Either I win or who knows what I am going to do. All I know is I deserved to be in this match and I’m going to walk out there Sunday with the National title around my waist. It will be the first time John Anthony has tasted gold. JFK and Joe my two competitors for this weekend you two don’t want to hear this. You know what laugh it up at me. You all might think I am crazy or something of that nature but it’s the truth. I have paid my dues I have sat back at watch people walk in here and grab their shots at titles I have shut my mouth and just rolled with it. Well it’s my time to open my damn mouth and actually do something about it. If you two don’t like it tough! I will walk to that ring with my head held high. I will step through those ropes and prepare my self for the greatest match. Up until this point this is the match I have been waiting for. This is the match’s people dream about. Well my dream finally became a reality. This is the last time you will hear from me.
John pounds the last of his beer. He looks at Jason and they both begin to leave the basement. John walks up last and makes one final look down at the stuff in the box. He hits the light switch with his left index finger and the camera fades.
