“The clock is ticking... a new day... is coming. Breaking Away, X Title, Fatal 5 Way... what more is there left to say?
You see it's been said, it's been laid out in plain English, my feelings on my competitors, are out there, and while I will have to gloss those points over again, for the sake of this promo, I guess the question, is... what kinda motivated you.
Xavier got up early from the hotel room... got in the car, drove to nCw headquarters and recorded a promo, got the nice banner up, and he spoke with a level of intensity that most don't see... or maybe you don't care and was just glad I even bothered to show up. I see what is in front of me, I see what this belt means to me.
You see it's not just about winning the title, it's not about being the X Champion to somehow validate myself. You see, winning that belt, will start the next stage... start the next step, getting to the top. You see you can shoot for the stars all you want, but in order to remain at the top, in order to keep your spot.. you have to defend it, you have to hold onto it dearly.. because there are gonna be people right behind you, chomping at the bit, nipping at your heels, trying to take that thing from you. Trying to take away the glory you just earned.
And you have to learn to fight with that target on your back. And you see... getting to that point was no problem, but it's the other part, it's the part of dealign with that target painted on your back. You see I have no problem showing that I was hungry.. that I was driven.
Not problem in proving that to anyone who wanted o stand in my way, but there always seems to be someone who wants it MORE than me... Someone who was willing to put forth MORE effort to win it, winning the belt was enough for me. It's what mattered, it was to show, I could do it. Any day, any challenger I can step up to the plate and win gold... and that was it.
But that isn't enough to survive here. It's not enough to ascend to those higher levels. You have to be able to defend your crown. Gonna be in that ring with two men looking to do the same...
And a man who has to defend his crown...
Kanyon, Kingsley... you already know how I feel about you two. You already know that I have little to no respect for Kingsley and Kanyon, is a Wild Card. Never know which one will show his face. And I have to keep that in the back of my mind. And Kingsley... can't seem to come up with a fitting enough backstory to frame his racial diatribes.
I'm not gonna call you a joke, I feel like my words have already painted that picture for you.
I know that stings, I know that grinds your gears a bit, but I have to be real. I have to call 'em like I see 'em. I and haven't seen anything yet. And that could change, and I have to be wary of that, but excuse if I'm not exactly sweating over the fact that Stephen Kingsley is in the same match as me.
And It goes the same way with Kanyon. We've gone back and forth enough times, to where there is no new ground to retread. You're big, crazy, unstable, and could rip me in half on a whim.
But it won't happen, because it hasn't happened yet. I've always been one step ahead of you, and I plan on keeping it that way.
As for Dexter Davis... Champ. You go the target on your back, and while I respect you, I acknowledge everything you've done in your time here, your attitude, your persona, what you represent not only as a champion, but as a wrestler and more importantly as a man.. I can't hate on, I have to give you the credit. You have risen about that trap of just being another black guy and have started to make a name for yourself.
And with all that being said... I know you are not gonna give that belt up easy, I don't expect it to be easy. The only thing I expect, is that youa re gonna put up a hell of a fight for it... and that is all I ask. That as the only two men in this match, who actually know what respect means... we're gonna g out there and give it our all.. and whoever is the one left standing, is the one left standing.
THAT is the essence of the X-Division, that is the tradition, passed down into the X Title... and that is a message... that after Sunday, I will be carrying.”
