He saw her again. This time it was in a foresty meadow of some sort, looking at Kevin it what appeared to be. She was looking as elegant and beautiful as ever. White flowing dress, hair back in a neatly shaped ponytail, just the right makeup under her eyes...she looked...PERFECT. But then it all changed. It was her, still in the white flowing dress, but her hair was messed up and tangled in knots, her dress had red stains on it, her makeup had run down to her eyes, she was crying and screaming as he looked all around to see nothing but blood on the walls, her almost in a puddle of it thats now on the floor. Visions start becoming rampant now as we see her from there, her in the forest meadow, her and someone playing around in the grass, it all becomes so fast before it stops...then we get a new vision..."Beautiful night, isn't it Kevin?". A high pitched scream fills the room and Kevin Hardaway wakes up on a sofa, drenched in sweat and breathing heavily as a young female hand goes to rub against Kevin's forehead as he looks up and sees a young female therapist it seems like. Has to be early 20's, slim, cute face and all...but that wasn't the least of Kevin's worries. Not even the debacles he was facing, or his opponent at Mind Games. He was facing "mind games" of his own.
"Sorry, I kept you sleeping for so long. I wanted to get into your head a little and see if anything came up that was out of the ordinary. By the looks of it, I think I dwelled a little too deep. Do you mind telling me what happened?" she said calmly as Kevin sat up and wiped his head with a nearby towel that the therapist gave him. And Kevin nodded...and decided to tell her what happened in the dream.
And he told her what he saw in the dream. Everything from the forest, to the way she looked, to the blood on the walls and her screaming. It was so surreal. Like he saw it on Dexter or something. He started breathing heavily again. The therapist tried to calm him down and it worked somewhat, but to pretty much no avail. Kevin did calm himself though to keep on going. "Like, 2 weeks ago...I was in Boulder, CO for a show and I went to the nearest Wal-Mart to pick up some DVD's and I come out and drive off and like 5 minutes later, there she is. She goes "Beautiful night, isn't it Kevin?", it was something that clicked inside of me. I remember her saying that one random day, it was so weird. Weird that after this time, I would remember that day and have it transcribe to some ****ed up hallcuination."
She wrote this down on a clipboard as Kevin was looking at what she could possibly be writing. During this, we see a name plate of her's that figures out her name. Dr. Sarah Marshall. Cute name, although he swears that he's heard the name before. He shakes his head as she finishes writing and speaks to Kevin. "Have you seen her anywhere as of late?" as she looks at him. Maybe this whole "pregnancy" thing is freaking him out. He spills the details though to her as she listens. "I traveled to Baltimore to where she was living. I visited her parents who were nice enough to give me her address and apartment number. I went over and I tried reasoning with her, to see if she would forgive me. And she ended up calling my cell before I knocked on her door. She answers and this whole fight starts and all of a sudden, she breaks down and hugs me. She apologized and she said that she was wrong for all of the things she did. I accepted her apology and was walking out the door when I saw......a home pregnancy test."
Sarah was in shock and amazement. She probably figured out the answer to the question that has been boggling Kevin, but who knows as she tells Kevin to continue on. "I stopped and saw it and picked it up...she looked at me like she knew the answer to immortality. I flipped out and then left...because she has no idea who the father is. It could be some drifter who saw her like a mess, some random guy she knew in high school 10 years ago...or it could be me. Still haven't gotten the call from her about the DNA tests.".
"Well those things take time, Kevin. You need hope in your system...hope for the best, you know?" There's something that Kevin didn't wanna hear: Hope. Back then at the XHF, thats all he gimmicked himself off of. "Hope Never Dies" and all of that crazy stuff. Kevin never believes in any of it anymore, because his self-esteem is so low. He likes to get up and do the job he enjoys best, but at what cost really? Of course, nobody knows that but himself.
"Have you had any other dreams about her lately?" said Sarah. Kevin decided to answer her truthfully. "No, just this one...but she did tell me about some of the dreams she had that kind of intrigued me?". "Explain, Kevin. Please?".
"She was being followed by this person, she wouldn't say who was actually stalking her to me, but she wouldn't stop following her. One day, she goes to school and ends up coming home to see her mother on the floor, with a bullet between her eyes. A note was also there. It said that she was next, and if she tried anything to stop this madman, he would kill me right in front of her eyes. She ran out of the house and ended up seeing me...but she also saw the person. She tried running but then he started running. Next thing I know, she wakes up...in the coldest sweat of her life. And that's all she told me."
It all made perfect sense in Kevin's eyes. Somehow, someway...yes, his emotions were getting the best of him. Outside, he was worried and scared for her. All he wanted to do was keep her safe. But inside was a different story. Inside was a man, inflicted and wounded by emotional pain showcased through everything. Inside was a person who wanted to drug her, secure her to a table naked with plastic wrap, wanting to use a motorized saw to the neck for reasons alone. Inside was a broken man.
DING! Session over...for now at least.
