It was a rough week…and I had to swallow a couple bitter pills.
There was first, the cease and desist order…the very thing that turned a revolt into an almost conventional war with defined battlefields and rules of engagement.
Then of course was the salt being poured into my wounds with not only me losing to one of the very tyrants I was revolting against... but a loss with Jake Conway getting involved busting me wide open which in turn led to my face getting slapped after the match…and there was nothing I could do about it…the bell had rung…closing the window I had for any action…I just had to grin and bear it.
Such was life…after you thought you had one obstacle overcome, another one hits you straight in the face.
So there I was alone after I had talked to Rose…while I was confident in my approach…winning matches…taking up the spotlight…and keeping ourselves with some measure of power in getting a belt or two I had to admit there was one thing that had me slightly worried…It was Rose.
I had let her grow up so to speak on those Coliseum grounds that we call a ring in any given arena. She had suffered much…suffering from a betrayal of a so called friend in Amy Marshall…she had been the butt of a lot of jokes and taken as many losses in the ring as she had victories. I knew she was a tough cookie…and could handle herself despite the separate paths we both were currently on professionally…but there was something that left me deeply troubled. It lay in the office of Starlets division going by the name of Kathy Conway.
I knew for whatever reason Kathy had it in for Rose and unlike Jake she was acting more from emotion than from something methodical…and poignant. If Kathy got in any sort of mood than I knew from that emotional state Kathy would have no problem bringing the house down upon her…and that is what had me worried. If Kathy did really bring the house down upon her I was uncertain if Rose would be able to truly handle the onslaught that was going to be upon her. This would something she had never handled before and while I had to keep walking down my own path I had to keep my peripheral vision open in order to step in just in case the **** really did hit the fan.
As much as I had to look out for Rose, when the time did come I did have to look after myself as well. I had my own part of this mission to fulfill…I had to get myself into the spot light whether the management liked it or not and that had to be done in my own difficult situation this week; taking on both Seth Evans…and Steve Awesome in a triple threat match.
This didn’t have the same feel as my match last week with Roberto Verona…but that didn’t mean it made things a whole lot easier. In fact my two opponents were both were and motivated…one looking to show that he hasn’t left a beat despite taking some time off…and one showing why he earned his spot as #1 contender to the X Title…
The quest was in front of me but like all things worthwhile in this world, going through the trials of what you want sure is easier said than done.
I looked over at James who had just flipped on his back itching to get his stomach rubbed, which I did comply with…
“Looks like our lives are going to get a whole lot more interesting there lil’ one.”
So here we are. Kelly Fox actually went to the big guns…no not Lex Sense…no she went to the lawyers. Yeah instead of taking me head on she and Roberto Verona took the easy way out…but I guess instead of potentially sacrificing more people…seeing that I put Kelly Fox’s husband in the hospital…she decided it was in her best interest that neutering me with this cease and desist order instead of taking me out.
I may not like the stack of legal paperwork handed to me…but I have to accept it.
Does that mean I am going to resign myself to a life into the shadows…conceding defeat…and saying that this war is over?
Of course not…yes I may come off as a little Alex Jones-esque…but they may have my silenced me in terms of acting and threatening the staff, but I will continue to speak…and speak I will. I will tell the world the complete hypocrisy that is on display on a daily basis from the staff that consists of people like Kelly Fox, Roberto Verona and even people like Jake and Kathy Conway…
Speaking of which I have a few words for a couple members of the gracious staff and not for Roberto Verona, or Kelly Fox…this time.
No this time I have a message for those in the Starlets management office, mainly one by the name of Kathy Conway.
Now I don’t know why you chose Rose to be your personal whipping girl for whatever frustrations you have because of…Jake…or Callie…or Emma…but let me let you in on a little secret…don’t get upset if what you are doing completely backfires in your face. Don’t get upset if Rose takes what you dish out and comes back for more…and above all don’t get upset if Rose not only takes the adversity given to her and makes you look like a complete jack ass for trying what you did. I know that woman…and I know that you are in for more than you bargained for.
But let me just say this…and consider this heavily before you go too much further. If you cross a line…if you try and push your power to the point that you abuse it, to the point that I have to get involved let’s just say that I hypothetically am not afraid to go to jail in order to stop your shenanigans…and I will just leave it at that.
Now let us get on to brass tacks…without trying to sound too much like Alex Jones of course. In that ring on Sunday I am going against two very formidable opponents. The thing I guess that surprises me is that we are only the second match on the card…but whatever.
On one end we have one Seth Evans…and on the other end I have to contend with Steve Awesome.
Now this is a challenge.
On the first side is Seth Evans…a great wrestler in his own rights. A former champion and one who despite the fact that he isn’t in the hunt necessarily for the National Champion still will prove a major fight for Alex Jones X Title. A man who has beaten champions and contenders…and a man who does have a win over me, but in the last time we did fight I had beaten last. You feel that itch don’t you…that itch that lingers when you want one more chance to beat a man who you felt that you should have beaten…
You feel angry?
Cool with me.
Are you hungry?
Even Better.
But let me tell you something…no matter how slighted…or how much you feel my win was a fluke…because you may not say it like that, but I definitely can see it in your eyes that you feel that way….I still won…and in the end…just as much as you thought you could beat me…I knew going into our little showdown I could definitely beat you.
That’s right…just like me and just like you and hell just like anyone on this damned roster we all go into our matches knowing in our hearts of hearts…knowing in our heads….in our body…and in our soul…no matter the challenges we face we are programmed to go into each and EVERY match with the notion that we know full well that we could win. That happened to you when we faced and that happened to me. The thing that you failed to realize than and the thing you don’t seem to realize now is that it’s not who you think that is better that wins the matches but the people who are the best that night that win…
This is not a video game where the best button mashers…the best person at camping in an advantageous area…the person who gets the rocket launcher…or hits that choke point etc. etc. No this is real life…and there are so many variables in real life that don’t happen in a video game. I don’t think you quite understand it…and believe me I will be exploiting it…and I will be showing you moves you have never seen before…
But while you are a definitely great opponent despite the way you treat life…I think you would agree with me that the real X factor in this match is not you yourself, nor is it me…no that mantle lies in the hands of Steve Awesome.
Yes Steve…I was surprised as anyone else when I saw that you were coming back. To be honest I was kinda of glad and the only thing that would have made it better was seeing Roberto Verona ****ting his pants seeing your face again. You really defined the year that was 2011…which was the year that I came into New Championship Wrestling and despite what Roberto may think I actually thought what you and Rob Diamond did was spectacular.
Unfortunately our now egalitarian leader Roberto Verona didn’t understand that what you and Rob had not only was a great thing but also a necessary thing…even though between you and me he is doing the same thing now with his prolonged rivalry with Mike Lazlo over that same title. If there is one thing that he doesn’t realize about wrestling is that this first and foremost is a business…and that in order to survive and thrive as a business it really needs to make money. What you and Rob were able to do was make money. People paid to see you fight. The seats were full and merchandise was selling because of what you two had…I don’t think anyone could say anything else otherwise…but if we want to add an additional dose of reality I will add it right here by asking the following question…
Could any other wrestler within the company even hold a candle to either one of you?
Could Zane, Sense, Verona, Ace, or anyone else be at that elite status that you were at?
I think not. Yes they all could complain…but in the end they had no right to….and that is the damn truth.
So before I go all in sounding like I have more than just respect for you and into that whole man crush zone let me digress and move to the business at hand…which is your face in this triple threat match.
I said what I said to say this. I have an immense amount of respect for you and even though you took some time off I know that you are just as dangerous of a wrestler as ever…even more so. I know you are coming in looking to prove that not only you were the best…but still are the best and I won’t be taking that for granted.
Like I said I am coming into this match with something to prove…and while I have a huge…and I mean HUGE challenge ahead of me I also have a bigger opportunity. I have a chance to prove that I could compete with anyone…I have a chance to show I can compete week in and week out with those in the higher echelons…I have a chance to show I can go and actually win a title in this industry.
This is my moment…and I have to take it…and on Sunday night I will show that while I may not be the best in the entirety of my wrestling career like a Seth Evans and definitely Steve Awesome…but I will be on that Sunday night on the way to being one of the best in the industry.
