::Manson watches as Cassandra Ryan walks off down the hall to the NWS locker room. He has a concerned look upon his face. He knows his two friends Lance, and Phil are in there, and after what went on in the main event tonight there could be fireworks. Ironic that it is almost Bonfire Night in the UK he thinks to himself. He decides that whatever happens, happens for a reason and enters his own private dressing room. His chat with Cassandra brings back some worrying thoughts, Lance had indeed hardly spoken to anybody this past week, not even his NWS members. Manson had seen this type of behaviour before, and it ended in tragedy. The events of Ortega’s downfall from The Empire came shooting back. The betrayal of his fellow members, his dream in ruins. All because he kept things bottled up and never bothered with his group. Jack was determined not to let Lance go down the same path as Ortega had. Fair enough the circumstances were different, but in some ways Manson saw a similarity.
He starts to pack his things up, waiting for the explosion of raised voices drowning out any audible sound. But the raised voices do not come. Instead there’s a knock at the door and Phil walks in, looking angry and helpless at the same time::
[red]JM: Hey, how’s things? [/red]
[orange]SOS: Same. Cassandra just went in to speak to him.[/orange]
[red]JM: Yeah she came asking where Lance was earlier.[/red]
[orange]SOS: So, what do you reckon has happened? Think she done it?[/orange]
[red]JM: Nah come on mate, I don’t think Cassandra would do something like that. I’ve seen them two together, he is her life as much as she is his. There’s no way. This is just another of Spike’s sick mind games. I’ve been through it with him before, except…[/red]
[orange]SOS: Except you got your own revenge didn’t you.[/orange]
[red]JM: No, not me, it did. I had no part of it I explained that.[/red]
[orange]SOS: I know, sorry, didn’t mean to bring it back up.[/orange]
[red]JM: It’s cool. Nothing like that will be happening again unless I do it myself. [/red]
::There is another knock at the door and both Manson and Burns turn towards the entrance as it opens. Cassandra walks in with a dejected look upon her face. Phil gets agitated and excuses himself. He brushes past Cassandra with out saying goodbye::
[red]JM: Don’t mind him, he’s just worried about what’s going on at the moment.[/red]
[green]CR: Yeah, I think we all are.[/green]
[red]JM: I know there’s a lot of crap going around about what supposedly happened with you and Spike, but… [/red]
[green]CR: Nothing happened Jack, I don’t care what people might be saying. I didn’t do anything with Spike and deep down Lance knows that. He just gets things into his head and doesn’t let them go. He’ll be back to normal in a few days.[/green]
[red]JM: So you managed to get him to talk?[/red]
[green]CR: Not exactly, but I could see a glimmer of the normal Lance in his eyes when he looked up at me. Let’s just hope we can get past this in time for the title match with Kane.[/green]
[red]JM: Yeah I guess. [/red]
::A slight awkward silence descends upon the two::
[green]CR: HEY! You haven’t seen the baby yet have you?[/green]
[red]JM: No, but neither has Lance, I don’t think it would be right for me to see the baby before the father does.[/red]
[green]CR: Yeah, well Lance’s brother saw his child before him so I think it’s okay for you to take a look.[/green]
::Cassandra reaches into her pocket and pulls out a Polaroid picture and hands it over to Jack. He takes a look and smiles::
[red]JM: He’s gorgeous. You two did a fine job. Ha he has Lance’s eyes.[/red]
[green]CR: I know. I just want his father to come and visit. At the moment Lance’s brother is taking care of him. [/green]
[red]JM: Is Lance still in the building?[/red]
[green]CR: As far as I know. [/green]
[red]JM: Okay. Look you best get yourself home. Don’t worry about Lance. I’ll go talk to him. [/red]
[green]CR: Thanks Jack. And I’m sorry for calling you a jackass earlier. Just so hard to keep things under control at the moment.[/green]
[red]JM: Don’t mention it. Go on, get yourself away home.[/red]
::Jack gives Cassandra a hug and hands the photograph back to her. She leaves the room and Manson takes a deep breath. He walks over to the cooler and grabs a bottle of ice cold water. He walks over to the door and takes a look outside. The corridor is empty, Cassandra has left the building. He is just about to take a drink when he hears Lance shouting after Spike. Manson quickly walks towards the NWS locker room and hears a loud smash. He hesitantly knocks on the door::
[red]JM: Lance, you in there buddy?[/red]
::No answer. The camera crew tries to get a glimpse in but Manson pushes the camera guy out the way and points a finger in his face::
[red]JM: Have some bastard respect! Do you honestly think Lance wants this broadcast over the air?![/red]
CM: But I’m under contract by Fox to keep track on everyone here. It’s for the show
[red]JM: Tell Fox he can shove the show up his ass! Get out of here before I break your neck![/red]
::The camera man scurries away as the broadcast ends. Jack opens the door slowly and sees Ryan sat on the floor with his head between his hands. He opens the door and walks in. Lance doesn’t move an inch. Jack takes a look at the locker on the floor::
[red]JM: You know Fox will probably charge you for damages to that locker, you know how tight he is. Either that or he‘ll get money from pimping his daughter out.[/red]
::Manson’s attempt to cheer his friend up go unnoticed::
[red]JM: Come on Lance, you know fine well this is just another one of Kane’s mind games. You saw the s**t he put me through because he wanted the National title. And now that he has the chance to take your World title he’s gonna use every cheap trick in the book. You can’t let him get the better of you.[/red]
::Lance still doesn’t move or say anything. Jack takes a seat on the floor next to him::
[red]JM: I know what you’re going through Lance. I know the pain you’re feeling. It feels like the whole world just collapsed around you doesn’t it. Like somebody reached into your chest, grabbed your beating heart and ripped it out. I know mate.[/red]
::Lance raises his head and glares at Manson. He doesn’t say anything but Jack senses he is asking how::
[red]JM: I was only seventeen at the time. Just a kid. We both were. Still, she ended up pregnant. At first I was mortified, how the hell could I manage fatherhood at seventeen? For weeks I was a mess. I thought that was it for my life, my career hopes. Until she was born. She was the tiniest thing Lance. As soon as I clapped eyes on her it didn’t matter what the world threw at me, all I knew was that as long as she was there things would work out. She was my little angel. Well as teenagers we both has to adapt to parenthood pretty damn quickly. Things were going great for the three of us. But after two years that changed. Some guy, two years older than me came to the door, demanding to see his daughter. I was confused, I didn’t know who the hell he was. At first I shook it off as a mistake, some idiot just trying to cause trouble. However my girlfriend confessed everything to me after I confronted her. Told me how she had a drunken one night stand a month before she found out she was pregnant. I couldn’t believe it, I refused to believe it. My little angel wasn’t my daughter after all.[/red]
::Manson sniffs up as the memories bring back the heart wrenching sadness he fought against for years. He wipes a single tear from his eye. Lance just listens as Jack continues to speak::
[red]JM: I moved out after that. Went back to my parents house. They were just as gutted as I was when I told them the truth. The kids mother would ring me, telling me I was more of a father than that guy ever could be. And that her daughter kept asking where her daddy was. Daddy… I was so proud when she first spoke that word. But it became a hollow word after that. Sure I cared about the kid still, she was the biggest part of my life for two years, but how could I carry on knowing she wasn’t of my own flesh and blood? I did try, for her sake. But every time she would look at me with those big beautiful eyes, I was filled with sadness and anger over what the truth was. After a few weeks her mother told me she was leaving me. She was taking off with her daughter and going to move in with her real dad. I wasn’t has hurt as I thought I would be. I never got to say goodbye. Don’t even know if she found out the truth, that I wasn’t her real dad. [/red]
::Jack takes a drink from his bottle of water. His throat is rather dry from reliving his painful past. The water sooths the thirst almost immediately::
[red]JM: Lance you’re not alone in this. You gotta understand that mate. We are all here you. For gods sake don’t keep it all bottled up, talk to one of us, any of us. You can’t let Spike get the upper hand. Not like this. I’ve seen the picture of your baby Lance, he has your eyes. There’s no way that kid is Kane’s. You just need to get that in your thick skull.[/red]
::Lance looks up at Manson once again, expressionless::
[red]JM: Okay, okay. Like I said, you ever need to talk, we’re here for you. I know what it’s like. I’ll see you around.[/red]
::Manson stands up and pats Lance on the shoulder before walking back out the room. He closes the door behind him and rests against it, leaning his head back and closing his eyes. Another tear rolls down his cheek and he quickly wipes the sign of weakness away. It took him years to get over that pain and he’ll be damned if he allows it back into his life again::
*Present Day*
::The scene opens up with Jack and new NWS member Allan Cooper sat together in a generic office room. Chad Lights soon comes into view and sits opposite the two NWS members::
[blue]CL: Jack, Allan, thanks for agreeing an interview so early after Collision. I know you both have an important together at Transgression so I’ll try to keep this short.[/blue]
[red]JM: Don’t mention it Chad.[/red]
[blue]CL: First off let me congratulate you on your victory over Christian Kane last night. It must come as a good bit of payback for you after the trouble he has caused you these last few weeks.[/blue]
[red]JM: Yeah, but the victory was never really in doubt. I had that match under control Chad. I’ve beaten Christian twice now, and if he still wants me to notice him as a Collision contender then he better improve, quickly.[/red]
[blue]CL: However on a less high note, Allan, you were unfortunate in your match with the returning Davey Ortega. Has this loss altered any strategy or goals you had in mind?[/blue]
[teal]AC: Chad, I do not feel it is quite my time to speak just yet. You must excuse me, Jack, I know you can take care of this little business your self. [/teal]
::Allan gets up from the sofa and Manson nods his way as he leaves the room::
[red]JM: Nice guy. I hope you didn’t offend him Chad.[/red]
[blue]CL: ME?! I didn’t say anything![/blue]
[red]JM: You mentioned the loss to Ortega. You may have pissed him off.[/red]
[blue]CL: It’s my job to… Oh never mind. I guess it’ll just be you doing this interview now then.[/blue]
[red]JM: I guess so.[/red]
[blue]CL: So, hot off the heels of another victory over Christian, you’ve been put in a tag match against Sexy Jason and Ghost. An unlikely team if ever I saw one. I know that Ghost had some kind of vendetta against you when he first arrived, he finally gets a chance to step into the ring with you. What’re your thoughts?[/blue]
[red]JM: Well like you said, he had some sort of problem with me when he first arrived, just another Christian Kane in my eyes, getting too big for his boots by getting the attention of one of the more talented fighters in nCw. Why is it me that always seems to get the cocky new comers? Especially the ones who think they can make it to the top by taking someone like me on? Yeah he finally gets his chance to go toe to toe with Jack Manson, but like Christian found out twice, it’s not always the best option to take. Ghost will learn that lesson at Transgression, and so will Jason.[/red]
[blue]CL: That’s Sexy Jason, actually.[/blue]
[red]JM: Just Jason to me Chad. I can’t take somebody seriously when they have “sexy” in their name.[/red]
[blue]CL: Fair enough. Now I know a lot has been going on in the NWS camp as of late, can you spill any beans on the situation? I understand you had a chat with Lance after the show went off air. Can you share any of the details with us?[/blue]
[red]JM: Come on Chad you’re better than that. Give Lance and Cassandra the time they need to sort things out between them. I know people around the world think it’s some kind of soap opera, but it’s really not. Spike Kane’s methods are despicable, the sooner he is taken out the better. The Empire will fall soon after, believe me.[/red]
[blue]CL: Whilst on the subject of The Empire, an old enemy has returned to get revenge. Are you worried that Davey Ortega is back and has listed the members of NWS and The Empire has targets?[/blue]
[red]JM: I know we are on Davey’s hit list. But I’m not concerned. He was lucky enough to defeat me the first time we met up in the ring. Remember that Chad? Back at the Road to the gold tournament. I had that match won until some unlikely interference from Phil caused me to lose. Well if he wants to step back in that ring me so we can finish where we left off… then that’s perfectly okay with me.[/red]
[blue]CL: So how disappointed you’re not in a title race at Transgression? It’s no secret that you’re after some gold. Would you have liked to been included in a title match next week?[/blue]
[red]JM: What goes around comes around Chad. I’ll get another shot. I’m over the disappointment now. I’m just upset to see the National title being flung all over the place. I’m the only one to have given the title the run it deserves. Spike was a worthless champion, and it’ll be no surprise to anyone when he fails to win the World title. Milo I thought would have held onto the belt for a while, however Ricky Johnson provided the shock of the evening when he snatched the victory. [/red]
[blue]CL: Do you see Ricky having a good run as National champion?[/blue]
[red]JM: Not if I have anything to do with it. I want a shot at regaining the National title.[/red]
[blue]CL: I see, any idea when you would like this title shot? [/blue]
[red]JM: Well not that you can do anything about it, but the first Collision after Transgression. I’ll make an official announcement soon, and I expect Ruston Bourne to give me an answer. [/red]
[blue]CL: Well I’ll make sure to pass any message on if you forget.[/blue]
[red]JM: I won’t forget Chad, don’t worry.[/red]
[blue]CL: Well, we’ve reached the end of our time here Jack. Any last words?[/blue]
[red]JM: I just wanna congratulate Everyman on winning his first title here in nCw. Cherish that moment mate, because you will be a marked man now. Don’t worry we all have your back in NWS, but you gotta make sure to step in that ring like it’s the last time, every time, from now on.[/red]
[blue]CL: Ladies and gentlemen I’m Chad Lights, thank you for watching. [/blue]
