I call no man master....
I'm not a slave...
A servant...
A lackey...
A henchman....
I'm my own man...
With my own mind...
I make my own decisions...
Alex sits in the background. Roberto Verona, Ace and Xander Famularo sit talking wioth each other about business. The three men dressed in custom cut and tailored suits, Alex leans against the wall staring at the three men wondering, does he really belong?. Alex looks at himself. Dressed in loose gym shorts with Bullet for my valentine logos, white and black DC skate shoes and a black "Alex Jones" hoodie. He sighs and turns walking away from the other three men.
"Another week, another match...."
Alex closes his eyes as his hand reaches up to his chin rubbing the stubble from his beard.
"You know, ever since I decided to side with Roberto Verona I've asked myself if I truly belong at his side. We have Xander, a former world champion and son of a legend. I respect Xander Famularo, I've battled him up and down NCW and have teamed with him when we destroyed the young guns and banished them from NCW. He stands behind Roberto. Then we have the Ace. Now I dislike Ace, always have always will. I dislike Ace because I'm better than him and he'd never admit it. There he sits all proud with his National title a belt that now means nothing due to no one actually being able to hold it. It gets traded around back and forth over and over more than Zelda Knite backstage."
Alex rolls his eyes and laughs to himself.
“So we have the most dominant world champion we’ve had in a while. A three time national champion and former world and tag team champion. A guy who won the world title at a very young age who was bred for this business, and then you have me. The outcast. Three former world champions and me. In my career I’ve towed the company line, I’ve been the guy to save the company, I stood against Adam Knite and again I towed the company line....”
“But there comes a time when you need to stop towing the company line. See Leonard Fox never wanted me here, but I still became a “company guy”. I stood up for him and NCW when no one else would. Spike Kane took his ball and went home, Lance Ryan started the whole damn thing. Adam took it to a new level and Angel stood on both sides waiting to see who won when the dust settled. The reason why I tell this story is because to understand what is happening in the present it’s important to understand what happened in the past.”
“The man I am now is a direct reaction to the bull**** I’ve had to face day in and day out for the last five years. I’ve given my blood and sweat for this company y and this business and I’m telling you all right now that these other guys who talk about me and want you all to believe some stupid little story that I’m past it. That the window of opportunity I had to be champion has been slammed in my face. Many would have you believe that this belt is now the be all end all of my career....”
Alex lifts up the X title looking it over before draping it back down.
“I told the world I was going to go back to the beginning and it’s funny but even week after week when I do exactly what I say I’m going to do I have the nay sayers telling me I can’t do it or I won’t do it. I walked into Mind Games and told the world over and over that I was going to win the X-title. People laughed, rolled their eyes....”
“I won the belt and have now defended it twice in a month. Three title matches in a month, I am a fighting champion, and I always will be. And now crossroads I have to defend this belt against James Warren, but before I get there it seems I have to take out a thorn in Roberto’s side. The cold spider, Nathan Webb.”
“Nathan, this past month you failed at beating Xander Famularo, you failed at stepping up to that level you need to be at to even think about facing the world champ. So here you are, stepping into that ring, and this time it’s against me. And you know what Nate?. You and I, we’re not exactly strangers. We’ve faced each other before and we will face each other again and I’m not going to sit here and blow smoke up your ass and say that you’re a loser or that you’re hopeless......”
Alex laughs and shakes his head.
“Cause you’re not. You’re one of those guys who seems to stop and start in his career. A few steps forward, a few steps back. Not quite getting to that level, not being able to make that last great leap. You take steps forward beating Adam Knite, you look like a contender beationg that hurdle. Then you come to a roadblock, like in this case it was Xander, and you stumble and fall. Now you have to ask yourself Nate...am I a hurdle or a roadblock?....”
Alex nods to himself and slides his hands over his hair.
“Am I a person who is going to help launch you towards a world title shot, or am I a guy who is going to bitch slap you back down the ladder of success?. It’s in your hands Nate. See I know I can beat you. There’s no doubt or question in my mind that I can beat you. I’m a champion in this company, I’ve been to the top, I’ve beaten the best and I know what I can do in that ring. My list of accomplishments speaks for itself. Many out there believe they can beat me, that I’m nothing. You can make that mistake Nate, discount me, think you’re better than me or that I’m nothing. Think I’m just some kind of burnout......”
“Underestimate me Nate, like everyone else.”
“I’ll punish you, just like I have everyone who doubts me. You’ll lay on your back staring at the lights, or I just might take your arm home as a trophy. You impressed people Nate. I’ve even stood impressed by your actions and wins. But the problem arises when people start to believe they can be something they aren’t. Maybe you can be a champion, maybe you are as good as everyone says. Or maybe you’re just my next victim.....”
