Really Alex?
Really?
You hurt my feelings you mean jerkface!
Of all the people in the entire world to call me a douchebag, it’s you?
You honestly think that I believe things should be handed to me on a silver platter? You couldn’t be farther from the truth. I earn every damn thing I get and when I do I always get something in return.
Your little brain may not be able to comprehend what I’m about to say so I’ll try my best to speak really slow just for you. I earned my shot at the World Title. You wouldn’t think so seeing as how Verona plucked me out of the crowd, but that very moment isn’t where the opportunity was earned.
Alex, I earned my opportunity by bursting on the scene as the only duel champion in NCW history, and then I took it to the next level. I used the silver tongue I possess and I talked my way into that situation. For three months, I gave Roberto Verona every ounce he could take and in the process made my name that much bigger.
Your view of it?
Well, let’s just say that it’s a bit skewed. I mean hell, you said I cheated and bull****ted my way into those three opportunities, and again, you’re wrong.
Shall I recap for you peon?
Opportunity number one, taken from me by that big son of a bitch Lex Sense. The world saw Verona was about to tap until that giant foot crushed my head into the pavement.
So I get another opportunity because Verona wanted to prove that he could beat me without help…he didn’t. As a matter of fact…I’m pretty sure that I won the Iron Man match. Reason I don’t have the title? A stupid technicality.
Opportunity three was inside the cell and I must give the devil his due, on that night he was the better man. I came out and told him as much the next week on Collision and he refused to shake my hand…and yet I’m the asshole right?
Like the story of your life Alex, the entire scenario you put before everybody was a lie. Nothing but empty words promoting the stupidity that is your thoughts from your mouth.
Yes, one on one you got the best of me, but I’ll tell you what, when you look in the NCW Record Books at times where Mike Laszlo has been on the opposite side of the ring from Alex Jones, and the numbers go in my favor.
Take your argument and throw it out the window because it means nothing.
You beat me when I was just coming into my own, now, I’m here and now I take on you and all the rest inside the Coliseum to be NCW’s last Gladiator, and last Number One Contender.
Last week, I had Shane Hunt beat and the world could see it until the rest of the Coliseum participants decided to stick their noses in my business. That’s when it came down to defending the spotlight from those who have comeback from the NCW grave to try and reclaim it. This Sunday is totally different.
This Sunday, it isn’t about defending the spotlight.
This Sunday…it’s about TAKING THE SPOTLIGHT!
This Sunday is about doing what I do best in the center of that ring.
This Sunday is about going out into the Coliseum Match, taking on the likes of Alex Jones, Shane Hunt, A. C. Douglas, Seth Evans, and Joe Everyman and showing the world what I already know, that I’m the better man. As I mow down the competition and once more claim my shot at the World Heavyweight Championship.
It doesn’t matter who I have to go through in this match. Really, none of you in this match matter other than myself. In the end, whether I’m beating Joe, Shane, Alex, Douglas, or Seth, I’m headed to A Night To Remember to take on the champion. I will represent NCW as its last challenger, and when all is said and done, I will then represent NCW as its final champion.

Title: Something Romantic This Way Cometh (First Real Date)
Location: Home, Cleveland, Ohio
Time: 1:30 PM Eastern Standard Time
Let’s ask the age old question shall we?
Is breakfast really a date? There’s no candles, nobody brings flowers, and usually it simply a coffee and maybe a breakfast sandwich. Especially nowadays. I mean who has time to go to a restaurant and have a decent meal early in the day? This world we live in is so fast paced that rather than sit down at a clean table, relax and eat some food, we’d rather fly through to the nearest McDonalds and grab an Egg McMuffin or something along those lines. So when Alexis and I had our first “date” it didn’t have that date feel even though we sat at a restaurant and didn’t rush through the most important meal of the day.
I’m not going to bore you with details because it is a lovely sixty degree in the city off the lake. We had our breakfast and came home. It was time to train. Sovereign was only a few days away and it was time to get serious. This match would guarantee one man the right to be the last Number One Contender in NCW history. Just one more accolade to add to my resume. That however fails in comparison to the other accolade that comes when I finally lay claim to the World Title at A Night To Remember. It’s only fitting, after all I was the last Honor Champion, why not the World Title?
Anyway, we got home and I was in the backyard using the new weight bench and weight I had purchased for outside use, and was laying on the bench doing bench presses when the young lady who would become my significant other half would come prancing out through the sliding glass door leading into the house. The sound of the door gliding along its track led my eyes toward the door to see the beauty that was headed my way. As I continued lifting the weight into the air she pranced on over and had a seat between my legs at the end of the bench.
Alexis Caffrey: What ya doin?
Mike Laszlo: Getting ready for this weekend. Big night and all.
Alexis Caffrey: Trust me, I know. Coliseum. Chance to be the final Number One Contender. Then when you beat Verona at A Night To Remember, everyone will remember you as the last World Champion of NCW.
Mike Laszlo: Yep. That’s the plan.
Alexis Caffrey: Sounds like a good one.
Mike Laszlo: Indeed.
I continued to lift the weight up and down until I noticed the boredom in the poor girls eyes. Lifting the weight one more time, I placed the bar in its resting place. Sitting up on the bar I look into her eyes as her beautiful smile lights up the day that much more. The grin on my own face was considerable as well as I waved her forward. Scooting toward me she then wrapped her legs around my waist.
Mike Laszlo: Feeling better?
Alexis Caffrey: Now.
Mike Laszlo: You weren’t before?
Alexis Caffrey: Just bored.
Mike Laszlo: I know. I’m sorry.
Alexis Caffrey: No, it’s not your fault. I know you have a big match and I understand that there’s going to be some days like this.
Mike Laszlo: I knew I liked you for a reason.
Alexis Caffrey: Can you take a break though?
Mike Laszlo: Sure. What’s up?
Alexis Caffrey: Well, I was wondering, breakfast was great but I have an idea for another date.
Mike Laszlo: Oh?
Alexis Caffrey: And it’s still kind of training.
Mike Laszlo: Huh?
Alexis Caffrey: Well the kids are gone, and I was thinking we go for a nice afternoon walk somewhere.
Standing from the weight bench with Alexis still wrapped around my waist I tease her desire a bit.
Mike Laszlo: Oh really, where would you like to go?
Alexis Caffrey: I don’t know. I’m not as familiar with the area. Where’s a good place?
Mike Laszlo: Well, there’s the beach, though it may be a little cold with the breeze off the lake. Then there’s the Metroparks, three in the area, all with some great trails.
Alexis Caffrey: YEAH! Let’s do that!
Mike Laszlo: Alright. Sounds like a plan.
She released her leg death grip and stood on the ground as we walked around the house to the driveway, getting into the car and heading to the nearest park. As we pulled up to the parking lot of the Metropark there were a good group of cars and there was a party going on in the open field complete with tent and grill. After finding a spot we headed away from the raucous hand in hand down one of the paths that lead deep into the wooded area. As we continued we soon came to a bridge that lead over the Chagrin River. The two of us stood next to each other leaning on the rail, gazing down as the sun glistened off the running water below us. The peacefulness was interrupted by the sound of Alexis’ voice.
Alexis Caffrey: This is perfect.
Mike Laszlo: It is. Nice and tranquil. Very relaxing.
She then wrapped her arms around me, pressing her head into my chest, causing me to do the same to her, well the wrapping my arms part.
Alexis Caffrey: You know what makes it better?
Mike Laszlo: What’s that?
Alexis Caffrey: I’m here with you.
The two of us enjoy each other’s company as the sun continues to beat down, and the scene fades as all that can be heard is the sounds of the rushing water.
====================
This is the showcase match of the Sovereign Pay Per View.
Six men who have never held the World Championship fight for the right to be called Gladiator.
The right to be called NCW’s last Number One Contender;
The right to have the chance to cement their legacy in NCW by calling themselves the last NCW World Champion;
We all want that chance, and it’s obvious in every single bit of our body language.
Seth Evans says good luck to the rest of us. Do you know what I say?
Luck is for losers.
A winner is someone who makes their own “luck”.
I could come out here and say that it’s my destiny to become the Gladiator. I can say that it’s my destiny to go on to A Night To Remember. I can say it’s my destiny to defeat Roberto Verona or Will Washington one more time and finally lay claim to what is destined to be mine.
It would all be a load of crap.
Destiny is not pre-determined. Destiny is nothing more than that final rung on the ladder that everyone and their mother try to grab. Destiny is that final brass ring laid out to say…”I did it.”
Whether it’s Alex Jones, and his quest to prove that he’s NOT the choke artist that everyone on the planet believes him to be, or it’s Seth Evans wishing everyone luck, or Shane Hunt trying to finally make something of himself, or Joe Everyman proving to the world that he is not just Joe-shmoe, or A.C. Douglas doing whatever it is he is doing, this Sunday, when the world is watching, my hand will be raised in victory, you will not see me say “I did it.”, because the overall objective has not been fulfilled.
This Sunday after I defeat the likes of Joe Everyman, Shane Hunt, A.C. Douglas, Seth Evans, and Alex Jones, you’ll simply see me say NEXT!
When the lights turn off at Sovereign I will be the Gladiator, and that will put me one step closer to cementing my legacy. Then, after that, whether it be Will Washington or Roberto Verona, you better come ready. You better be ready to put on the absolute greatest show you’ll ever put on because I’m coming for the belt, and I promise you that I will be known throughout the industry, hell, throughout the world as the last of a great line of NCW World Heavyweight Champions.
