I honestly can’t believe how far I have certainly come. It felt like it was just a little less than a year ago when I was back in home in Charlotte practicing medicine and being a medical doctor and now here I am a few months later and it’s like I was able to dominate another wrestling world... The world of wrestling and I stand before you all as a champion. If I had to rank my X Championship win over Alex Jones I would have to put it up there with the likes of me receiving my Doctoral’s degree or me getting married. It’s about that important to me.
X certainly marks the spot but now is not the time to rest easy just because I won a championship title and things are looking up for me. Now is not the time to put on a fake smile like I hit the lotto and everything is going good for me. Now the true test comes because I have to show the world that I have the means to keep the championship around my waist and that I can be a fighting a defending champion.
At this stage in my career that’s really the only thing that jumps out for me. It’s not the fact that I had what it took to rise up to the top and climb to the highest point of the mountain peak but it’s having it in me to stay up there and not allowing anything to steer me off of the course. That’s what it means to be a champion.
I feel a bit ashamed because I practically went invisible after my North Carolina State WolfPack got eliminated from the NCAA tourney but cut a doctor some slack you would be a bit mopey too if your team lost as well... But now that we have out that out of way let’s look to the task at hand and standing in front of me is a man who is returning to this company. A man who has found himself gaining a shot against me in Paul Star. Well damn Paul batter up buddy...
How does it feel to be competing for a championship match at Sovereign? How does it feel to be thrown back into the middle of the fold with a chance to actually make something of your career? Don’t give me that you were somebody once before... That you accomplished some important things and that you were somebody... The last time you had a chance to branch out on your own and make something of yourself was at Crossroads of 2011... You had a chance to become the number one contender to this very championship that is currently around my waist... The only thing you had to do was get past Todd Williams... That’s the only thing you had to do and you would have gained a shot to define yourself as a singles wrestler...
Instead as memory serves me right and as the DVD implies you found yourself on the losing end and Todd’s star was rising and the Star that was Paul went crashing down... You burned up that the ball of gas that you were, and you become nothing. The only thing that you have to cling onto is being a transitional tag team champion along with Shane Hunt who was mere cannon fodder for the likes of Knitely Bangs...
But that’s all in the past isn’t it Paul? Now here we are in the present and you have a chance to right the wrongs. You have a chance to make something of yourself and show that you are more than the transitional champion that you can be on your own that you don’t more than the man in the shadow of the man who eliminated the most people in a Riot match.
My question is can you actually do it? Do you have it in you to step out of the shadows and grab onto the spotlight? While you are thinking of a way to answer that let me be the first to tell you that I am no pushover myself. I am the man who somehow defeated Alex Jones a man who is perhaps the greatest man to never win the big one. The man who is destined to go on to become a Hall of Famer at the conclusion of A Night To Remember...
That’s what makes the two of us very different. You beat people like “The Rat Pack” and assume that’s going to do something for you yet people have long forgotten who you are and I work my ass off to defeat legends, and Hall of Famers in the making. That’s the type of stuff that I do to get noticed. I honestly can’t say the same about you.
What have you honestly done to get this X Championship title match?
Who the hell have you beaten to even be considered for a shot? Because the last thing that I remember seeing was you on the losing end to Jackhammer and him having his hands raised in victory...
I didn’t realize losers got rewarded... But I guess this is considered NCW donating to Charity.... Giving to the needy and you are a guy who looks like he needs to get some tv time... A guy who is looking to get noticed so why the hell not let’s give you a shot buddy.... Whatever the case I didn’t get here by cheating... Sure... I may have pinned Alex by grabbing onto the ropes using them to my advantage but at the end of the day I defeated a former World Champion in Xavier Williams just to get a shot at this title...
I have been busting my ass since day one and I am not going to let some guy who doesn’t deserve this chance come back into this company and take it away from me... Come Sovereign you will be in for a major check up and I will have no problem in prescribing you a dosage of pain...
At Sovereign I will personally help you move on... You should believe in me... I am a doctor after all...
See you inside the ring Paul... Good luck buddy.... You certainly are going to need it....
