This isn’t normal. At least…not for me.
Normally, I would give my opponent the first opportunity to speak and respond later.
This week is different.
This week is different in more ways than one.
First off, I’m not on Collision. I’m on Trauma. The final Trauma of NCW. Why? All these past members of NCW have comeback and as a favor, brass has decided to give them my shot, my chance to make my final mark on Collision. My mark will be made one way, or another.
That’s then however and this is now. This is me. On Trauma. Last episode in the historic reign of NCW. A reign that will never be forgotten by any of its fans, or by the wrestling world as a whole. NCW has lasted a long time, and it really is quite a shame that it has to end.
Like they say though, all good things must finally come to an end.
So brass has me in Trauma’s main event against a former World Champion which is only fitting as I have been beating them left and right. The names read like a list of who’s who on the NCW roster, and this Saturday, I will be glad to add Andrew Jacobsen to the list.
Andrew, I don’t know if you realize this or not, but this is our rubber match. We will find out once and for all this Saturday who statistically is the better man when it comes to you and I. I don’t mean who’s held more titles. I don’t mean who’s been here longer. I mean straight up in that ring who is the more talented wrestler, and I hate to break it to you, although the rest of the world already knows, but that man is I.
Again I tell you this isn’t normal.
I’m not familiar with this first to talk trash scenario that I’m currently in. I’m not familiar with this whole allowing my opponent to copy my words and try their best to turn them against me.
That’s why I’ve always waited. I waited until the last minute on purpose. I wanted to allow my opponent the opportunity to come up with a thought that originated out of their own head, and use it as a weapon. Few times has that happened. So now I take the offensive. I take aim to make somebody lose without the handicap of not knowing what I have to say about them.
This week I say what I want freely, and Andrew, if you want to take my words, and twist them into a paraphrase of your own in a frivolous attempt to one-up me than so be it. You can twist them until the cows come home. You can make up your useless banter based on what I say all you want, because in the end, it all means the same.
I mean honestly Andrew, what can be said that we haven’t said before. Shall I paraphrase?
“You suck!”
“No, you suck!”
“I’ll beat you with in an inch of your life.”
“You can do so AFTER I beat you senseless.”
“I will beat you because I’m better.”
“You can tell yourself that all you want, but when the lights go out and the match is over I will be the one standing victorious with my hand raised.”
See? That’s about what this week could have ended up being. Instead, we have this. There’s a respect I have for a man like you Andrew. You did what others thought you would never do. You became the NCW World Champion. Congratulations. Now you and I have a goal in common, two as a matter of fact.
Goal Number One: Put on the best main event Trauma has ever seen, saving the best for last.
Goal Number Two: Victory.
Andrew, we can both accomplish goal number one. In the end however, only one of us can accomplish goal number two. I wish you luck, but luck is for losers, so please, don’t return the favor.

Title: The End is Near But It’s Not Here Yet
Location: Lubbock, Texas
Time: 11:30 PM
The show was done and over. As far as NCW was concerned, this was it for me. This WAS my final Collision. How did I end it? I get kicked in the face while Alex Jones steals a victory out from under me. Again…he gets lucky and is in the right place at the right time. Again, I am not. I have my match at A Night To Remember. I have a high profile match against some unknown entity in Dallas, Texas. I know not who I’m facing and I care even less.
That though is a topic for another time. Right now I’m letting it sink in. My final Collision. The night was over, and Alexis decided to follow me on my journey to the very top of the arena in Lubbock, Texas. There we sat, alone, watching as the crew members took down the set and the ring and the entire stage. I watched as they dismantled Collision for my final time.
As we sat there I let out a deep sigh as I leaned forward and just stared out into the middle of the arena. My deep mourning sigh alerted my better half as she turned toward me.
Alexis Caffrey: What is it?
Mike Laszlo: Well…this is it. This, according to NCW booking, is my Collision Finale.
Alexis Caffrey: It was a good match.
Mike Laszlo: It was. The competitiveness was off the charts, but in the end, I didn’t win.
Alexis Caffrey: You can’t win them all despite the fact that you possess amazing skills in that ring. Sometimes the circumstances just don’t allow it.
Mike Laszlo: True. This time though, just like at the Coliseum, victory was so close, only to be snatched from my grasp by Alex Jones.
Alexis Caffrey: He is an opportunist.
Mike Laszlo: He is, and honestly, I don’t fault him for that because I would have done the same thing.
Alexis Caffrey: So what’s the problem?
Letting out another sigh, I sit back in my chair and watch as the final ring post is taken down from the ring. My eyes shift as you can hear the sounds of the NCW logo being removed from the top of the video screen. As my eyes shifted blankly, I thought of the perfect way to answer her question. Turning toward her I put it as bluntly as possible.
Mike Laszlo: The problem is, that’s not how I wanted to go out. I don’t want to be remembered as a side note in a Triple-Threat match. I want to go out on top.
Alexis Caffrey: Doesn’t everybody?
Mike Laszlo: Yes. There is a difference with my situation though.
Alexis Caffrey: And that would be?
Mike Laszlo: I can do something about it.
Alexis Caffrey: What do you have in mind?
Mike Laszlo: You and the world will see next week.
Alexis Caffrey: Uh-oh.
My patented sly grin comes over my face as a great idea has coursed through my brain. The two of us looked back over the arena again as they lowered any last sign of NCW or Collision as far as logos go. All of a sudden I shrugged my shoulders and got up from my chair. Alexis looked up confused.
Alexis Caffrey: Where ya goin?
Mike Laszlo: Well now that this may not be my last Collision after all, it’s not so depressing. It’s not as sad as it was five minutes ago.
Alexis Caffrey: I guess. So where are we going?
Mike Laszlo: I don’t know, just getting the hell out of here. It’s almost over in NCW, but it ain’t over yet.
That said, I extend my hand and help the gorgeous young lady from her seat. The two of us together, hand in hand, head down the steps toward the exit as the crew wraps up their cleanup.
===================
Andrew, it would be easy to bash you. Hell, I did it for weeks on end while you held the World Title no matter how deserving or undeserving people may claim you were. I don’t care about that. It’s in the past and nothing can be done about it.
Fact is fact, Andrew, and you were the World Heavyweight Champion of NCW.
Nobody can erase that from the record books.
Nobody can delete the footage and make as if it never happened.
Nobody can take that from you no matter how hard or in what way they try.
It’s in the past.
That’s why I’m done talking about it. Why waste anymore breath on this meaningless topic. It has absolutely nothing to do with our match this week on Trauma.
All that matters is that we go out in this main event, and we do what we do best as performers, entertain. That Andrew is what it is all about.
There is no title on the line in this match between us. There’s no special stipulation, no title shot, nothing. All that is on the line is pride.
The two of us will walk down that isle and step through those ropes into that ring and we will do battle. There will be punches, kicks, and incredible maneuvers on display, and the one with the most talent should win. The key word is “should”. I’ve said it once Andy and I’ll say it again, “On any given night, anyone in this company can beat anyone else. One slip, one instance is all it takes.
On Trauma though, I will also tell you this now…there will be no slip. That one instance will not occur.
I WILL WIN!
Normally, I would give my opponent the first opportunity to speak and respond later.
