[The Saturday before the final Collision we open up at the Adam Knite apartment to see Adam Knite stumbling out of bed into the hall way and in a zombie like state shambling to the kitchen where he stumbles forward and wipes the early morning drowsyness from his eyes to see Zelda standing in front of the stove making some eggs and bacon. She turns around and smiles, her hair pulled back into a pony tail and wearing an hold “Age of the Revolution” shirt that is about 4x too big for her. Adam smiles at his sister and lets out a quick chuckle.]
Zelda: Hey, do you like your eggs more on the runny side or... the other way.. you know... what’s it called...
Adam: Cooked?
Zelda: Yeah I guess... so what is it?
Adam: Runny.
Zelda: That’s good... because well, that was kinda what you were getting no matter what... also I hope you like limp bacon.
[Zelda grabs a plate she already prepared and extends it towards Adam, showing him a pile of the most vile looking breakfast you’ve probably ever seen. Adam looks down at it and smiles even more as takes it and just nods his head.]
Adam: It looks great Z.
[Adam takes the plate and heads towards the kitchen table where he sits down with a glass of orange juice that he swears must be more pulp than actual juice. He looks over into the living room to see his pregnant wife sitting on the floor Indian style with their three month old child, Ryleigh, attacking her with various toys giggling. Adam then turns back to see Zelda making some more plates of food and smiles wide as he closes his eyes for a moment. He’s suddenly shaken out of his day dream when Zelda shoves him in the arm and his eyes snap open.]
Zelda: Is it ok if Xavier comes over tonight?
Adam: Sure, no problem.
Zelda: Hey. Whatcha thinkin’ about?
Adam: Oh nothing...
Zelda: You’re not still hung up on that final Collision show are you?
Adam: ...
[Adam turns to see Kelly grabbing Ryleigh off the floor and happily bringing their child towards the small dining room table and then turns back to see Zelda sitting down and grabbing a big bite of her eggs, which causes her to quickly gag as she grimaces in disgust. Kelly puts Ryleigh in her chair and Adam leans back and puts his arms behind his head as he whispers to himself.]
Adam: ... not at all.
[We fade out.]
It’s the final NCW Collision.
I never imagined this day would come, when me and Kelly would shut down the company to spend more time with each other and our children. I never imagined that I would be hanging them up, but in the end for me, it feels right. It feels like everything I’ve needed to say, everything I’ve needed to prove has been accomplished. It feels like now is the time to move on and give everybody else who believed in this independantly owned company a chance to do so as well. It’s been an amazing ride, one that I will never forget and one I will cherish for as long as I live... but now isn’t the time to dwell on that. Now is the time to focus on what’s ahead of me... the final Main Event of this show that I helped turn into a worldwide phenomenon.
What can I say about Roberto Verona?
He’s a man after my own heart. He does things like a true royalty of professional wrestling would do. He’s ambitious, he’s passionate, he’s ruthless and won’t let anybody stand between him and and stardom. He’s precisely what NCW needed he’s exactly the man I wanted to see lead NCW into it’s final days and it’s been an honor to see him as part of Kelly and I’s Hierarchy. That’s why I requested this match, as a way of celebrating what NCW has stood for, as a way of taking NCW Collision out on a high note. Two men who clawed and fought their way to the top squaring off in the final Collision match.
It’s going to be a hell of a show. It will be a spectacle to behold, two of NCW’s most celebrated wrestlers, two of the biggest names ever in NCW squaring off against each other to give NCW’s swan song some true meaning. Verona has tackled every Star he could on his final romp through the roster, he’s faced all challengers and minus that one incident where that snake Alex Jones comes down and robs him of a well earned victory, he’s been untouched.
I’m not here to put a stop to that. I’m here to celebrate it. Even if I were to win, it would be all about Roberto Verona and what he was able to do for NCW and how he brought the entire roster to it’s knees in fear of him. Verona, I’m not afraid to say might be the single greatest champion this company has ever witnessed and we’re going to give you a hell of a show between two Hall of Famers, two world champions, two icons of this business. A show that you’ll never forget.
All in the name of NCW.
With that said...
Let me make this perfectly clear, I am still the King of this company. I am still the biggest name that has ever come through those doors and now as I close those doors... I want to go out on top. So maybe I do have a budding bromance with Verona, maybe I do see him as the perfect man to represent what NCW stood for as everybody moves on to IWF... but that doesn’t mean that I’m going to go out there with the intentions of putting a smile on everybody’s face as I lose... no sir... I plan on putting everything I have into winning this match. I plan on putting my body to the test and more and give NCW’s very last Collision a victory worthy of rememberance.
It was the first ever Collision show that saw Brad Kane lose to famed nCw: Classic wrestler “The Punisher”, my friend and former tag team partner. It was the very first Collision where we witnessed, despite all the promises of a brand new beginning and how things were going to be all about the new Stars... we saw a member of the old guard take home the victory in the very first main event. I see the last main event... in the same light...
Roberto Verona the icon of the modern day NCW, the man who is synonymous with success and superstardom in this company, the poster face of everything NCW stands for with the world title thrown over his shoulder. Facing the man who paved the way for him, facing a member of the old NCW guard. Maybe the results will be different this time, maybe it will be the future of this business going over the representative of a past time and glory... or mabye... just maybe... Adam Knite, “The King of NCW” has just a few more aces up his sleeve and can pull of a victory for the final showing of Collision and possibly one of the final matches of his career.
It would make for a cool story at least.
Either way.
[Adam sits in his office across the hall from his wife at the NCW head quarters. The building is almost bare at this point as most workers have gotten their spaces moved out, Adam’s office is the same way except for a table and chair with a small stack of folders to do the final week’s work with. However... Adam isn’t bothering, he’s sitting there staring at the NCW symbol that is nailed to the wall expressionless... until Kelly steps into the room, her pregnant stomach clearly showing at this point as she’s about five months along. Adam turns, and smiles at her as she walks over and puts her hands on his shoulders while standing over him.]
Kelly: You doing ok?
[Adam reaches forward and puts his hand on her stomach, he looks up and stares into her eyes smiling.]
Adam: I couldn’t be better.
[Kelly looks at her husband and grins wide as she lowers her hands and puts them on top of his while he holds their unborn child. The two share a moment staring into each other’s eyes before we quickly fade to black with nothing else needing to be said.]
Let me tell you.
This match means the absolute world to me, this match means more than you’ll ever imagine. The last ever Collision match, the last time the Collision lights turn off it will be me in that ring. Now the only question that remains is will I be standing up shaking Verona’s handing and having the entire crew of backstage guys celebrating with me after a defeat, or will I be raising my hands in victory. Do you realize how much I want that to be the latter? How much I truly want to have that final Collision victory? My career started in one of Davey Boone’s original nCw: Classic projects, this name, this company means so much to me, it almost defines me and what I am. I want to walk away from NCW with that victory, I want to walk out of that building in my hometown of Dallas Texas knowing that I gave NCW every single bit of me that I could. Winning this match, coming out of there with a victory over the World Champion in the final moments of this company that I helped bring off the ground and to national promise... would just possibly be the most cherished memory of my career...
If it were to happen.
So don’t think for a second that all my praise and admiration for Verona means that this isn’t something that I want, because I do. Don’t mistake my calling Verona the embodiment of what NCW means as to mean me thinking Verona deserves this victory more to close NCW with the future of the wrestling business coming out victorious. Because, I want people going into IWF and CPW knowing that I was the King. I want people going on to federations past NCW believing that nothing could ever top what they saw from Adam Knite and NCW. I want to make an impact, I want to go out with that big bang and I want to be remembered as the best that ever lived. This match against Verona might mean none of those things, I might have already solidified that role for myself, but I’m not going to take any chances. I want this victory, I need this win.
I am going to come at you Verona with everything I have. Not for some petty vengeance like a Will Washington or Mike Laszlo, because I think you’ve done a fantastic job as me and Kelly’s chosen champion. I think you’ve represented this company to the fullest of our wildest dreams and I believe you are the future of this business... but because.. I just want to beat you on this show. You don’t have to worry about any shenanigans or me gunning to take you out, you don’t have to worry about me trying to take your title, all you have to think about, dwell on, is the fact that you’re going to be in the ring with one of the very best to ever step foot in this company...
That’s all.
With the utmost respect, I’m going to try and bring you down to your knees. With the full hope that you go on and represent every single thing good about NCW as you tear through some other federation, I’m going to try and break you. I think you’re one hell of a person Verona...
but when you’re a King...
Sometimes you just can’t betray those standards.
Win or lose though... it’s been an amazing run not only for me but for this company and this show. The week after A Night to Remember will be the first time in six years when a week doesn’t have any NCW action on it. I will miss this company, but now isn’t the time to think about that... now is about this one match... the final match... the last chance for both of us to show the NCW fans whant made Collision so special every week... our last chance to walk out of Collision a winner...
Lets make it something epic...
lets make it worthy of a king.
