The following depicts the events in the life of myself, Mike Laszlo during the days leading up to the final NCW show in history, A Night to Remember. I have a match against a mystery opponent who would eventually be revealed to me in the form of “Breaking News” brought to the world by NCW.com. I will reveal the “mystery opponent” later on in this piece. For now, enjoy the show…
====================
Title: Daily Scoop (Day 1) (My Arrival)
Location: Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Dallas, Texas
Date: Monday, May 13, 2013
Time: 11:25 AM Local Time
The plane landed and had come to the point where the passengers aboard were allowed to exit the aircraft. Both Alexis and myself stood at the cockpit exit and waited for the pilot to pop the hatch. The door opened and you could hear the sound of the leftover cabin pressure exiting through the opening. He stepped aside and allowed us to exit the plane. As we stepped out onto the step, we were immediately hit with that warm Dallas sun. Dallas, as we all know, is the home of NCW’s “A Night To Remember” and the title of said Pay Per View would never be more fitting. It would be a night to remember, and it would be the last night of NCW as an organization in less than a week. As Alexis and I headed down the steps to the pavement below, we were greeted by NCW cameras on the tarmac. I was a little surprised and didn’t know what to think as was evident by the question that was blurted from my lips.
Mike Laszlo: What the hell do you guys want?
Cameraman: Sir…
Alexis was quick to stop the man from speaking, which after hearing his rather high voice was a pleasure, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to stop laughing.
Alexis Caffrey: Don’t worry, I’ll explain it.
Turning toward my beautiful companion, who looked especially adorable in her black dress splattered with white polka-dots, I cocked an eyebrow toward the sky.
Alexis Caffrey: Babe, NCW called and asked if they could document your last week in NCW leading up to “A Night To Remember.” I agreed because it’s great exposure, and gives your fans a little insight into your life.
Mike Laszlo: I guess that’s okay. We can edit out parts we don’t want in there right?
Alexis Caffrey: Of course. Now if you have anything to say to the viewing audience, look into the camera and do so.
Mike Laszlo: (Rolling my eyes.) This should be fun.
Turning toward the camera, I looked out toward the Texas landscape and let out a deep sigh.
Mike Laszlo: So this is it huh?
After those words are spoken I turn my attention directly into the camera in front of me.
Mike Laszlo: If you listen carefully you can hear the faint sounds of that oh so famous fat lady singing. Nobody wanted to hear it. Ask around and everyone will tell you that the swan song of NCW shouldn’t be this Sunday. They’ll tell you that NCW should go far, far beyond this Sunday, but alas, this is it. May 19, 2013 live from Cowboys Stadium is the grand finale and it is known to the world as “A Night To Remember”.
As I start walking toward the parking area where I would pick up a rent-a-car, I continued to talk to the camera, occasionally stopping to make a reference, or simply looking toward it as I walked on.
Mike Laszlo: You may see this footage and wonder to yourself, what is a name like mine going to do at A Night To Remember. How will I make it so? How will I leave my mark on the final show NCW has to offer?
We continue through a gate, opened by a heavy set security guard in his black pants, and bright blue button up shirt that makes him look like every fat mall cop in the movies or on television. As me and this little entourage pass through, that same heavy set guard closes the gate behind us. Again I continue my diatribe.
Mike Laszlo: A couple of weeks back, I defeated A.C. Douglas, and Jackhammer in a Triple Threat Match to determine who would be in a high profile match at A Night To Remember against an un-named opponent. High profile is good. Not knowing my opponent? Who cares? The fact that I’m in a high profile match at A Night To Remember has proven what you the viewing world has seen this entire time, I’ve made a mark and I’ve done it in a rather quick fashion. Last year at this time, I was defeating Jackhammer to retain my Honor and X Titles on the preshow. Here we are, one year later, and I’m not only on the show, I’m a major part of it. I’m not some afterthought like the opening match between Jackhammer and Andrew Jacobsen. I’m not on a pre-show. I did what I had to do to be a major part of NCW’s go home show, and alas, it is finally upon us. That being said, Jingling a set of keys. I have my car, time to settle into this great city.
The scene fades as Alexis and I get into the car and head off to the hotel where we would later continue this little adventure.

Title: Daily Scoop (Day 1) (Relaxation)
Location: Hotel, Dallas, Texas
Date: Monday, May 13, 2013
Time: 10:09 PM Local Time
After a crazy day of flight and promos, along with the vast array of media appearances, the scene fades in to see myself reclined back on the bed in my hotel room, one arm bent behind my head propping me up, the other wrapped around the shoulders of a now dressed down Alexis who wears a purple tank-top and pair of black short shorts. She was reading what looked to be a comic book as she was the comic type as I flipped through channels on the television. As I blinked through the different programs, reality was setting in. This is the last time that we would be staying in a hotel under the NCW banner name. I took that similar deep sigh to earlier in the day and that seemed to disturb Alexis who looked up at me through her black rimmed glasses.
Alexis Caffrey: What is it babe?
Mike Laszlo: Nothing. I mean, just the same that it has been for the last couple weeks. I think it’s all dawning on me.
Alexis Caffrey: Just because it’s NCW’s last show, doesn’t mean it will be yours.
Mike Laszlo: I know. It’s just, after being out of this business for a year and four months, this company is the one that took a chance on me still being what I was, and thankfully, for all of us, I have been able to come through.
She set the comic aside and pushed herself up on the bed to be eye-level with me.
Alexis Caffrey: Was there a doubt that you would be the same?
Mike Laszlo: I never told anybody this, but honestly, yes.
Alexis Caffrey: Really?
Mike Laszlo: I mean, yeah. Anytime you’re a year plus removed from something, there’s always questions.
Alexis Caffrey: I guess. You answered them quickly though.
Mike Laszlo: I did, and I’m thankful for that.
Alexis Caffrey: (With the cute smile I’ve come to love on her face.) And if it wasn’t for your resurgence, you wouldn’t have met me.
Mike Laszlo: (Pulling her in with my arm wrapped around her.) And that alone makes it all worth it.
The scene fades out.

Title: Daily Scoop (Day 2) (Radio Interview)
Location: Dallas Radio Station 105.3 The Fan, Dallas, Texas
Date: Tuesday, May 14, 2013
Time: 7:00 AM Local Time
Mike Laszlo: Ugh, why are we up so early?
This causes a giggle from Alexis who explains the day as I take a sip of my AMP Energy Drink.
Alexis Caffrey: Well silly, we’re doing P.R. for A Night To Remember. This is the string of wrestler’s they’re bringing on their station.
Mike Laszlo: We couldn’t do it later in the day?
Alexis Caffrey: This is the only time they had suitable with the other stuff we’re doing.
Mike Laszlo: There’s more?
Alexis Caffrey: Yup.
She shoots a smile at me and it instantly makes me melt. She’s so damn cute. Before we could go on any longer, my LG Lucid starts buzzing in my pocket. Pulling it out I see a notice that there has been breaking news at NCW.com. It read the following:
BREAKING NEWS FROM NCW.COM!!
We at NCW.com continue to work diligently despite the fact that the company is closing it's doors after A Night To Remember. We have discovered breaking news concerning this monumental event and one of the high profile matches.
Mike Laszlo's MYSTERY OPPONENT is none other than Mr. Night To Remember himself, TRENT HELMS! That's right ladies and gentlemen, you've heard it here first.
This Sunday at A Night To Remember, it will be Trent Helms taking on Mike Laszlo in a match that has show-stealing potential.
Looking up into the NCW camera in the car with us, documenting the week, a smile appears on my face.
Mike Laszlo: Well, now we have something to talk about.
Alexis Caffrey: Huh?
Mike Laszlo: Just found out who my opponent is.
Alexis Caffrey: Who?
Without revealing it to the camera, I show her the phone.
Alexis Caffrey: Wow, that’s awesome.
Mike Laszlo: Not a bad choice.
Alexis turns her head and looks out the window to see that we have arrived which was made more evident by the car being shut off. The driver comes around and opens the door where both of us get out. Alexis looked presentable as always in a black dress that had hot pink trim at the top and bottom of her dress and a zipper in the front that gave it a certain appeal. I was a little less proper and had a pair of shorts and a t-shirt on. After all, we were on radio, not television. We walked up and greeted the hosts while they were talking up the final NCW show on their show. Both Alexis and I had a seat, and I was handed a pair of headphones.
Shan:: Loyal listeners, we continue with our pro-wrestling theme today, discussing the final show of NCW, A Night To Remember, live from Cowboys Stadium.
R.J.: That’s right folks, and at this time, we would like to introduce a special guest. This man will be a participant at A Night to Remember, and at this time has a mystery opponent. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you former and longest reigning NCW Honor and X Champion, Mike Laszlo. Mike, thanks for joining us this morning.
Mike Laszlo: Good to be here.
Shan:: What does the end of NCW mean for you?
Mike Laszlo: To be honest, it’s kind of surreal. Here I was, a year plus removed from the business when I was told about NCW by friend and fellow wrestler, Bob Pooler. A year ago is when I started making my mark. I became Honor and X Champion, took those titles to heights previously unknown, and now look at me, I’m in a high profile match at the last show of the company. This company that gave me a shot to do what I love doing and that’s putting on the best show possible for the people who pay their hard earned money, whether watching on T.V. or sitting in the seats.
R.J.: You talk about your NCW career, any regrets?
Mike Laszlo: I wouldn’t call them regrets. I am saddened at the fact that I will no longer have a chance to become NCW Champion. When you enter a business like ours, your main goal is to eventually be the champion. To have that title means that you are the best of the best, and the fact that I couldn’t hold that belt is disheartening, yet satisfying at the same time.
Shan:: Can you elaborate?
Mike Laszlo: Well, to not hold the World Title, like I said, disheartening. However, at the same time, to not hold that title, and become as well-known as I have, proves that you can accomplish anything once you put your mind to it.
R.J.: You mention not becoming World Champion. Earlier in the year, you had three opportunities to do so. From December to February, you headlined three straight Pay Per Views with Roberto Verona. What was that like?
Mike Laszlo: Oh man, let me tell you. It was a blast. To know that for three months, Roberto and I carried this company into the new year is simply awesome. The matches entertained obviously, I mean hell, our first battle was runner-up for match of the year 2012 and there were indeed some great matches that happened during the course of that year. Then to go on and win the second match, only to not win the title due to technicality, and to hear the reaction of the fans who had at that time begun to get behind me was unbelievably gratifying. Then the culmination at Metamorphosis in the Cell match. The two of us went out there and put on the best show we knew how, and we both knew that no matter who won, we both were going to be so over that we could continue on our rise. Unfortunately, like I said, Roberto was the better man, and is one hell of a champion. He has a tough task in another man I’ve face on multiple occasions in Alex Jones. Should be a great match in what is a number of great matches scheduled this Sunday.
Shan:: Speaking of this Sunday, this is it. A Night To Remember will be NCW’s final show, and although you’re not in the main event, you’re in a high profile match, but against who?
Mike Laszlo: Actually Shan, it’s funny you ask that. On my way over here, I got an alert from NCW.com. They revealed my opponent, and for those of you who don’t have the NCW App, let me do the honors of announcing my opponent, right here on New School.
R.J.: Wow, breaking news for the wrestling fans here, early in the morning. Go for it Mike.
Mike Laszlo: This is big guys. At A Night To Remember, I will be going one on one with Mr. A Night To Remember, Trent Helms.
Shan:: WOW! That night just got more memorable. Your thoughts on him as your opponent?
Mike Laszlo: Well, that’s easy, we’re going to steal the show. You can talk about all the grudge matches, and title matches, but when you take two men who have the talent of Trent Helms and me, and you put them between those ropes, good things will happen. My goal every time I go out there is to put on a show for those people, and this Sunday I tell Trent to bring it because we’re not only putting on a show this Sunday. We’re stealing the whole damn thing.
R.J.: Well, Mike, good luck this Sunday, and thanks for joining us here on New School with Shan and R.J.!
Mike Laszlo: Hey guys, thanks for having me. It was a pleasure, and who knows, maybe down the road I’ll be here again for another company. Tune into A Night To Remember this Sunday, it’s sure to be one hell of a finale.
The show went to a commercial as I removed the headphones from my head, setting them on the table in front of me. We said our thanks, signed some autographs, and then Alexis and I headed back to the car, and back to the hotel.

Title: Daily Scoop (Day 3) (Workout/Promo)
Location: A Local Gym, Dallas, Texas
Date: Tuesday, May 15, 2013
Time: 10:00 AM Local Time
Today is a very important day. Not only is it the Wednesday before my final NCW appearance at A Night To Remember, but it is also the birthday of one of my best friends in the whole wide world, Kristy Mastrangelo. We got to the gym in Texas, but before working out, I pulled my phone from my workout bag, dialing her number.
Mike Laszlo: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
She giggled and said thank you. I told her I was about to work out and she said she would call me later, which worked out well as far as the schedule goes. Hanging up the phone I shoved it back into my bag and started working out, allowing the camera to get its various angles and shots. After finishing some bench presses, I sat up on the bench and wiped my face of the sweat protruding from my pores. I was alone as Alexis was back at the hotel doing whatever it is she does when she’s on her own, and I viewed it as a perfect opportunity to talk to my opponent, Trent Helms. The camera panned in as I sat on the bench staring forward.
Mike Laszlo: This Sunday is a day that will be remembered in the minds of anyone who witnesses it. This Sunday is A Night To Remember, NCW’s final show. Whether you’re a founding father of the organization like Adam Knite or Spike Kane, or a newcomer like A.C. Douglas, to anyone in between such as myself you will remember this night. The matches on this card are second to none, but the one that a lot of you should be looking forward to has nothing to do with a title, nothing to do with a grudge. The match you should be looking forward to involves or at least, involved a little bit of mystery, until yesterday. Yesterday on NCW.com and then on “The Fan” here in Dallas I revealed that Trent Helms would be my opponent.
That took my match to a whole other level. There’s always been a list of people of whom I’ve wanted to face here in NCW and a majority of them I have. Trent Helms is one of those people and until this Sunday, I never had the chance. I’ve beaten some of the best that this company has to offer including the likes of Xander Famularo, Alex Jones, and Roberto Verona. Trent Helms, I’m letting you know now that I plan on adding you to the list.
I’m sure you’ll have your objections, and I’m sure you’ll have your reasons why you think that you won’t be added to this list, but the fact of the matter is, none of what you’ll say will matter. Your destiny is to end up on the list of great names I’ve defeated, and my destiny is to put you there. In the end Trent, there’s only two things you can do about it…nothing and like it.
This Sunday will not only be “A” Night to Remember. This Sunday will be “MY” Night to Remember.
That being said, I continue on with my workout as the scene fades.

Title: Daily Scoop (Day 3) (Birthday Gift)
Location: Hotel Room, Dallas, Texas
Date: Wednesday, May 15, 2013
Time: 1:56 PM Local Time
As promised, I called Kristy back, and when she answered, I had a surprise for her.
Kristy Mastrangelo: Hello?
Mike Laszlo: Me again. Happy birthday…again.
Kristy Mastrangelo: Haha, thanks. What did you want to talk about?
Mike Laszlo: What are you doing this Sunday?
Kristy Mastrangelo: Nothing, probably recovering from a hangover.
Mike Laszlo: How about you recover on a plane ride?
Kristy Mastrangelo: Huh?
Mike Laszlo: I was thinking of flying you out here to see my last match in NCW.
Kristy Mastrangelo: Really?
Mike Laszlo: Why not?
Kristy Mastrangelo: I’d be honored.
Mike Laszlo: Alright, it’s settled. I’ll make the arrangements. Be ready Sunday around noon.
Kristy Mastrangelo: Alright. I guess I won’t drink AS much as I would have. See you Sunday.
Mike Laszlo: Sunday.
She hangs up the phone as do I with a smile on my face knowing that I just got her an awesome gift. The scene fades on my face which possesses that oh so awesome grin that you’ve all become a custom to.
====================
Days four and five which were Thursday and Friday were spent simply going on the media circuit, prepping everyone and doing PR for A Night to Remember. Public appearances were many, autographs even more. You have to love NCW fans as they are indeed a special, passionate bunch. There were two days left before the end and you could tell they all knew it, as well as tell that they appreciated all we did for them in the great organization.

Title: Daily Scoop (Day 6) (Once More to Remember)
Location: Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, Texas
Date: Saturday, May 18, 2013
Time: 1:19 PM Local Time
Cowboys Stadium. This place holds eighty thousand people on a regular basis. For NCW and the way our stage and ring are set, it will be even more. The set is built, the ring setup, and it all looks great. Even from my vantage point of the thirtieth row in the upper deck. Things certainly look small in the sunlight shining down on this hot eighty-five degree day. The roof here is open and all looks good for the same to be true tomorrow for A Night To Remember. As I sit up here and watch the crew continue to perfect everything, a smile comes over my face as the camera looks in.
Mike Laszlo: I’ve seen what others have had to say about tomorrow night. I’ve listened to their words and there have been sentiments from every direction.
There’s those looking for vindication like Alex Jones who also has title aspirations.
There’s others looking to settle age old feuds.
There’s some who hold grudges. Then there’s us Trent.
What makes our match different from all of the others?
Trent, I’m not going to lie and say we were friends. I barely had any communications with you whether passing by or casual. I’m not going to lie and say we were embroiled in a feud before or currently because that too would not be true. Between us Trent, there is no sentiment, no friendship, no feud, no bond, nothing.
You and I Trent have but one thing in common and that’s the ability to put on a show better than anyone else possibly could even dream about. You and I go out there and put it all on the line when others may back off to persevere for themselves.
As I look down from the last row in Cowboys Stadium, I don’t see a ring and a stage. I see the canvas in which my art will be portrayed. I can close my eyes right now and hear the roar of the crowd as we enter their view. I can then open my eyes and look around to either side of me and see their bodies filling all eighty thousand plus seats in this arena. I can imagine it all Trent.
I look down and see us performing move after move on one another, and I can even see the near falls that come oh so close to ending our bout, only to fail by micro seconds. Then in the end, and this is where our opinions may differ, I close my eyes once more and I hear the ringing of the bell, and I hear Amber Ashe’s voice as she says “YOUR WINNER…MIKE LASZZZZZLOOOOO!”
As I hear that Trent, it makes me smile.
Tomorrow night, live on Pay Per View in front of Millions at home and over eighty thousand here at Cowboys Stadium, we not only make it a Night to remember, it becomes a match that people will not only remember, but talk about for times to come.
Trent, bring your best, I’ll bring mine. Let’s make a memory shall we?
The scene fades for the final time on this documentary on me staring out into the arena, the Texas wind blowing my hair back behind my face. Before it goes black though, my voice is heard one more time, a smile on my face.
Mike Laszlo: Let’s make a memory indeed.
The scene then goes completely black.

Shan:: Can you elaborate?

====================
