I figured at this point Zelda might have called me a "meanie" or something, but she hasn't, so you know what, I'm moving on and continuing to taunt her.
I "called" the starlets title because I'm going to win it. It doesn't matter that Zelda Knite is in the match. She's just an added bonus to what will be history making night for me. When I win that Starlet's title and become the final starlet's champion, I'm going to go around to each and every starlet and rub it in their faces. Kathy, Zelda, Jenny, Crystal, Emma, All of them, even if they haven't been in the company for 5 years. I'm going to parade around New York City, my home, with that title because I deserve it. Yes Kathy, I said I deserve it. Why? Because I'm the most real person in this match. I never thought I was a cat, and I can use words and actually know what they mean. Zelda Knite may be crazy like a fox, or just plain crazy, or functionally retarded. I can't really tell which, but does it matter which it is? She's the starlet's champion, she's the one I have to beat. Or, I can just beat Kathy's ass, because the honest truth is, she deserves that, more than anything else. Especially the starlets title.
I mean, Zelda was at least the strong link on her team. Kathy was the strong link on a team with Emma Danielson. Emma Danielson. The woman I gave a victory to because I didn't care. It's was the only way she could beat me anyway, and even then, it could have been so easy to take her out. But you know, I think she was actually right about something, she is at a disadvantage. Really. She's at a disadvantage because really, she's the one with no business in this match. She's clearly the least skilled, clearly the least intelligent, well no, she is slightly smarter than Zelda, but that's saying nothing at all. Zelda would study for a urine test. It's really ironic that the person with the least expierience, is the person who is most likely to win. Some might call it sneaking in the back door, or getting lucky with a title shot, I didn't ask for it, I didn't beg or plead. I'm merely taking advantage of Zelda's stupidity. And why wouldn't I? It's not like Kathy wouldn't do the same if she had the chance. You think if Kathy was in my shoes, she wouldn't be trying to get herself a shot again? Please.
Zelda's bored with you Kathy, it may be her ADD, but then again, most everyone else is bored with you too. I know I am. That's why I'm planning on not only winning the match, and embarrassing you at the same time. Imagine if I pin Zelda to be eligible to hang the belt and win the title. I can't even believe that I have to do such a thing, but Kathy made the match, so I guess I'm stuck with it. But I'll beat Kathy and Zelda is a reverse ladder match, because I know I'm better than Kathy, and really, that's all I have to be, better than one of them. Zelda is the bigger threat, but why would I bother trying to take her down? It's Kathy's wish to take down Zelda. It's her goal, not mine.
My goal is to win.
It doesn't matter who I pin. And while pinning Zelda or making her submit would be an added bonus, all I have to do is wait for the right opportunity. And no doubt with Kathy and Zelda's combined intelligence level, this should be easier than even I expected.
|Jazz's apartment, Bronx, NY |
Jazz and Flash prepare to head out.
Jazz emerges from the bedroom.
Jazz grabs her purse and they exit the apartment, and get into their car.
Flash and Jazz pull into a small shopping center.
Yes, the more and more I think about this match, I have more and more confidence rolling into it. Zelda made the dumbest choice she'll ever make in her career, which, again is saying a lot, but still, the dumbest choice ever by putting me into this match. Because now I know what I have to do. I know full well how I need to attack this match, and how to win. It's so simple now. Everything becomes much more simple when you have nothing to lose.
Zelda has that title to lose, I know she enjoys being the champion, and being seen as the top of the heap. And for her going into this match should sound like an easy victory to her. But she'll have her guard up. She may be mentally challenged, but she knows when she's in a fight. And she knows that title is on the line. And I can almost guarantee that she really doesn't want to lose it to someone who was once a cat-person. Pride can be a good thing, but pride carried too far is foolishness. Zelda's pride won't allow her to lose to Kathy. Zelda's belt is on the line in addition to her pride But pride will have no say in the matter when I am crowned the champion.
And speaking of pride, that's what Kathy has to lose. Really, what else is there? She has no integrity, no swagger, no shame. She just really wants to beat Zelda Knite. She wants to join that hallowed group of people like Trish Newborn and Markus Reeves. Both of which are better than she ever could be. But her pride will make her show out in this match. She'll take every chance, every risk, if it means taking down Zelda Knite. Oh how Kathy's stupid little dream can come true if she can just beat Zelda Knite. Well, I hate to break it to Kathy, but I'm going to win the match, and she'll be left with nothing. A broken, pathetic excuse for a contender who got beat by someone better than she is. Although that's both me and Zelda, but whatever.
Do I have pride on the line? maybe. I did just lay down and let Emma Danielson pin me two weeks ago. Do you really think I care how I get the job done?
Yeah, I didn't think so.
I'm getting the job done this time, because there's nothing after this. All bets are off. NCW Closes. IWF and CPW open in their place. But NCW dies Sunday. It goes away. There is no holding back anymore. No sportsmanship, no respect.
I'm going out there Sunday and doing it all for me. And me alone.
Flash and Jazz arrive at the park for the party, several members of the circle, including Hector, Deon, and Andre are there.
Jazz and Flash get out of the car and approach the cookout. Andre is there to meet them, greeting them both like family.
Jazz hands the gift to Andre.
You know what's funny about all this? I could have been champion if I had just done things my way. Yeah I realize that for my entire wrestling career, I've been been holding myself back based of a ridiculous code of honor and decency. Why did I do this? The fans.
The people cheered me once. They looked at me as a young rookie ready and eager to take on the world. But the harsh realities set in, and now I've grown from them, and I realized something very important. The fans, the people, they turn on you at the drop of a hat, because they didn't know what I was going through, and now, they boo. They don't like me anymore. Well, tough. You don't have to like me. Kathy doesn't like me, that much is obvious. I'm sure she made up some story about me to. She does it for herself all the time. So what? You can hate me Kathy, that's all well and good. It'll make it all the more satisfying when I am victorious and I walk away Starlets champion, and you can hate me forever after that, just like the fans will. Because I'm no longer doing things for them. I'm doing it for me. Because the people, the fans, they wanted me to get the job done a certain way. But that just doesn't work for me. I should have done this earlier, but I wanted Todd to see I tried. I shouldn't have listened to him either. I should have listened to my gut.
Zelda, does she care? I don't know. Does she hate me? probably not, but maybe the words I've spoken, the insults I've used, will make her understand that we are not friends, and at the very least she will at least find me unpleasant. Something might go off in her head. But then again, by the time she realizes it, it'll be too late anyway. I'm doing this for me, because Kathy Conway isn't going to beat Zelda Knite on this day, or any other day of the week, nor does she deserve to. Zelda Knite walking away from NCW as the final starlets champion is just way too fairytale for my liking. There isn't going to be a storybook ending Zelda, No Cinderalla finding her true love. No hero triumphing in the end. No...video game... ending thing. Sorry, fresh out of happy endings.
This is the final chapter of NCW's starlets history. A stupid reverse ladder match between Zelda Knite, Kathy Conway, and Jasmine Barrera. Anyone who follows the history can look back at all of our histories and see this one final moment. This last exciting chapter in our NCW history.
But no matter who's book they read, the ending is still the same.
I win.
Jasmine Barrera.
No dream finish for Kathy Conway, no fairy tale ending for Zelda. Jasmine Barrera ruins everyone's party and defies the odds and all the crap. I win. I get all the glory, my name goes into the history books. MY NAME is remembered forever.
The uninvited guest, The underdog, The upstart, the darkhorse, the last minute addition. Whatever you want to call me. Me. Jasmine Barrera.
You know the name you can all agree on when it's over?
The FINAL NCW starlets champion.

I don't know. Maybe we get him something.
Jazz:
Like what?
Flash:
A gift card, I don't know, something.
Jazz:
A gift card? We're not his cheap ass sister in law.
