Xavier Cross
Zelda Knite
Adam Knite
Shaun Spencer
Burton Guster
Jimmy Turner
The scene opens to Shaun, Gus, and Xavier in the ‘blueberry’ a blue prius to those unfamiliar with this whole scenario. Cross is holding his head, still feeling the side effects from whatever he was drugged with. Easy out of the parking lot, Cross sits up straight.
“Are you guys taking me to the hospital?”
“No! We need to get to the bottom of this…”
“Wait, why can’t Shaun use his whole psychic thing to just read my mind, go past the whole date rape, and see who did it? That’s how it works.”
“That’s not how it works!”
“…Wait, how does it work?”
“Kind of like a train, but with wings, and breathing fire. A metal dragon if you will.”
“….Wait…I got this! Hey, God…what the hell are you doing?”
“Xavier, who are you talking to?”
“Look, I took a hard hit to the head, I can talk to god, or my god. I don’t know. It’s hard to explain, like a metal dragon!”
“Oh….okay…”
Gus and Shaun look at each other, as they drive off into the sunset
The screen is black, we hear the sounds of the former great, the legend, Ray Charles. His sad blues instilled voice fills the darkness. Xavier Cross steps out of the background, a grin on his face. The music washing over him. Holding his arms out, the rain falls down on him. His head lowers, his arms still raised.
Pictures of Cari Cross, surrounded by Landon and Bella, holding the twins tight. The pictures start to burn up, as the fly towards Cross. Hitting his chest, the ink covering his body. His face winces, as though he is actually being burned. The scene morphs around him, showing a tombstone, not of Cari Cross, but of Hank or Henry, his name has bounced around so much between the two. Cross looks down, the burns marks, and ink of the photos still running across his chest, but never actually falling. He kneels down, holding the stone. A smile still on his face.
Cross is standing up at the alter with Will Washington, who is about to be married. The same smile still on his face. The burns and ink covered by a tuxedo, Cross’s face seems more peaceful. The words are silent, but the song still remains switching back and forth between the hard rock, and the soft blues.
A video of Xavier and Cari’s wedding is played in the background, while a video is played across the shirtless, in pain Xavier Cross, who’s smile still hasn’t faded, this second video is Natalie Tyson and Xavier Cross kissing. Zelda Knite steps into the scene, as Xavier pulls her close to him, not kissing her, just looking into her eyes.
The videos, the women, the rain, it all disappears like sand in a windstorm. Cross slowly wipes the ink from his chest. The pain being lifted from him, his smile begins to fade as serious look comes on his face. Immediately the background and situations around him change. His arm is raised in victory by a faceless referee, the scenes are portraying each of his career victories. His outfits, and apperances changing through the years. The serious look fades, as tears roll down his face, but the old smile comes back up.
“Remember this Will? I tweaked it up a bit, had the A/V team pull it up. I remember how much emotion was put into this. But because of you, I found my strength. When I wasn’t able to stand I found a brother. This match there is no hate, or aggression. I’m here to do one thing, put on the greatest show these fans have ever seen. The original promo was based off of my life with Cari, how it was being taken away from me. A man who was given everything, I believe you said, a girl, a career, a family, and plenty of opportunities. Well it looks like this is the end of the road at NCW, and looking back, I made some dumb choices. But being your friend isn’t one, so for me, the greatest opportunity will be able to tear the roof off with my best friend. Manu-y-Manu Ginobli.
“So…did God say anything?”
“No…what the hell is going on. I have been going crazy for two weeks talking to this voice in my head.”
“Uh…”
“Shut up Gus, I’m not crazy. If Shaun is a psychic, why can’t I speak to god?!”
“Because, that’s just ridiculous.”
“So you’re saying Shaun is just some hyper aware person with excellent vision that uses hints and clues that no one else notices to deduce how things happen, and make some vague prediction that just happens to be right?”
“Maybe he can talk to God, I mean stranger things have happened Shaun…”
“We need to figure out who drugged you…”
“It was probably Simon Daye…”
“Also, why are you wearing that ridiculous get up?”
“I was at the…crazy disco club…”
“No. you were at The Blossom…”
“the Blossom?”
“It’s a pub dedicated to the hit show, ‘Blossom’…”
“That is single handedly the greatest idea I’ve ever heard of…”
“I got an idea. Maybe I saw it on Dr. Phil…”
“You watch Dr. Phil?!”
“Shut up Shaun. We can hypnotize Xavier, and see if he can recall any lost memories.”
“That sounds brilliant!”
A loud thud, followed by a series of banging from the trunk of the Prius is heard. Gus swerves a couple of time as our three heroes scream like little children. Gus finally pulls over, and the three of them immediately get out of the car. Staring at each other for a moment.
“I’m not opening it.”
“How the hell did you guys get someone in the trunk…”
“I er…don’t know…”
“So….”
“Fine, give me the keys!”
Before anyone could react, Xavier takes the keys from Gus, making his way to the trunk he stands there for a moment, taking a deep breath before slowly sliding the key in.
“AHHHH!”
“WHAT THE HELL GUS?!”
“Sorry. The tension…”
“Jesus Christ you almost gave me a heart attack.”
Cross goes back, his eyes locked in on the trunk as he slowly pushes the key into the slot, turning slowly, and opening the trunk.
His face is that of confusion, stepping back his hand running through his hair.
“Really. How the hell…”
The camera pans around to show Jimmy Turner, the hate-able janitor of NCW, laying in the trunk.
“What in god’s green earth are you doing in there?”
“I was sleeping! Who’s the negro.”
Cross and Shaun both face palm at the racism, as Gus narrows his eyes.
“GET THE HELL OUT OF MY TRUNK!”
Cross reaches in, pulling Turner out, grabbing him by the shirt.
“Did you drug me?”
“Maybe?”
Cross slams Turner against the car, this immediately gets the point across he’s serious.
“Xavier wait! I’m sensing…he didn’t act alone.”
“It was Simon! Simon Daye paid me to do it!”
“That son of a bitch…”
With one motion, Xavier punches Jimmy Tuner in the face, knocking him out cold.
“Help me put him in the ditch over there.”
“We can’t just leave him out here!”
“He’s not real people Gus.”
“Thank you Shaun.”
Cross wraps his hands under Turner’s arms, as Shaun and Gus each grab a leg, carrying the limp body over to the ditch, quickly. Shaun starts holding his head.
“I see something….a video..”
Gus walks back to the trunk, reaching in, pulling out a DVD case.
“It’s marked, ‘Black Mailing Cross by James Adolf Turner…”
“Wait, his middle name is Adolf..”
“SHAUN FOCUS! We need to watch this video…”
The three men hurry to pile in the car, Shaun and Cross fight over shot gun, before speeding off the Cross’s hotel room.
The Video Tape
The camera moves around, as we get a close up of Jimmy Turner.
“Alright fellas. Here we are at Casa de la Blossum, or whatever this place is. I’m here to blackmail Xavier Cross, as per Simon Daye. Easiest 500 bucks ever. Plus I got these sweet drugs!”
The camera turns, to show Cross, sitting at the bar in his ridiculous get up. A young woman sits next to him, she looks at him for a moment, as the two talk.
“that right there is a hooker ladies and gentlemen. My daughter, Regina Turner, lovely piece of gal isn’t she? Anyway, she will be playing the part of the cheat-e, as Xavier will be the cheater.”
Cross excuses himself from the conversation, as he gets up to go to the rest room. Regina turns around, giving Jimmy the thumbs up. Regina pulls out a small bag of white powder, and pours it into Xavier’s drink. Turner follows him to the bathroom.
The door opens and we see Shaun and Gus standing over an unconscious Xavier Cross.
“YOU HIT HIM WITH A BATHROOM STALL DOOR!”
“What, he is a trained professional wrestler, and if you don’t remember, he hit me with a chair.”
“….”
“Hey is that a video camera…”
Shaun picks up the stall door, and hits Jimmy Turner with it.
“….What….the….”
“Gus did it!”
“Wait…wait…Simon Daye is trying to drug me up, and get me laid by Jimmy Turner’s daughter, Regina Turner, to get Zelda to break up with me, so he can swoop in, and save the day…”
“Yeah pretty much.”
“And Gus hit me with a door.”
“Yeah…”
Cross gets up, goes to the bathroom and immediately returns with a Katana. Gus leaps over the bed, hiding, screaming like a lady.
“I’m going to go kill Simon Daye.”
“Xavier no! As much as I love The Last Samurai, homicide is not the option, and if anything Gus, saved you from actually being drugged and raped by that trailer slug.”
“….Wait, how did you know where I would be?”
“Psychic, duh.”
“Twitter…”
“Shut up Gus.”
“So…you guys drove all the way down here..”
“For one last wrestling Hijinx! Duh!”
Xavier hugs the two men, laughing.
“I hate you guys so much. I got somewhere I need to be, make yourselves at home, and there are two tickets in the dresser.”
“You knew we were coming?”
“Holy crap, you are psychic too!”
“Twitter.”
“Oh….”
Cross quickly changes into real clothes, before hustling out of the hotel, Shaun and Gus look at each other, before grapping pillows and proceeding to hit each other.
Cross knocks on a door, Adam Knite answers with a grin on his face. Xavier tilts his head, and Adam nods his head stepping aside, the camera shows Zelda Knite playing Fable II. Cross bites down on his lip, turning to Adam, who has disappeared. Cross makes his way to the couch, leaning over the back, kissing her cheek.
“Surprise.”
“Xavier!”
She quickly pauses the game, reaching back, giving him the strangest almost hug in the history of affection.
“I need to talk to you…can I steal you away from this?”
“Sure, c’mon…”
The two step outside a sliding glass door, shutting the door behind them. Cross leans against the bannister. Saying something, as Zelda puts her hand on her chin, nodding and listening. Cross turns looking at her, before getting on one knee. The expression on Zelda’s face is priceless, as the color slowly drains. Cross begins to tie his shoe, not noticing his girlfriend’s reaction. Standing back up, Cross looks at Zelda, a bit confused, she regains her composure quickly. Cross reaches into his jacket, pulling out the DVD from earlier. The door opens back up, and the two step in.
“That’s insane. Simon is crazy but..”
“But you had sex with me to bother him, not because you wanted to make love to me, but to stick it to your ex.”
“Just because I’m not in the room, does not mean I can’t hear you.”
“Shut up Adam.”
“That’s not fair.”
“Look, Simon obviously cares about you. He went to such extremes to get me out of the picture, and can you blame the guy for being jealous. Look at you.”
“What is with all this doubt in your voice Xavier, are you really going to listen to Will?”
“…My choices are my own Zelda, not yours, not his, not anyone else’s.”
Zelda’s fist clenches.
“Don’t get mad. We’re not fighting. I just…you know what I’ve been through. I lost a wife, I have three kids, and a career. You’re still young, you have all this life you can make. You don’t need a used car like me.”
“Is that why you keep buying me gifts? Because, I mean if you really want to buy my affection, I could use a new 3DS”
Cross smiles, kissing her forehead.
“I’m saying, don’t use me Zelda. We’re too old for that, and this isn’t high school. You broke up with Simon over trust issues, and I’m not an idiot. The licenses plate read OneDaye…”
“But…you let me stay and confront him…”
“I trust you.”
“and you let me go out with Rob..”
“I trust…you..”
“And…”
“And what?”
“I’m not used to this, usually it ends up with the guy yelling and insinuating I’m a whore.”
“No, you’re Zelda, the only person who kicks my ass regularly at video games.”
“Hey, I beat you in Mario Kart the other day.”
“Shut up Adam.”
“Xavier, I have no idea what you’re getting at now.”
“I’m saying, maybe you and I are something special, maybe not. But I have fun when I’m around you, but I’m not a boy toy, and you’re not the every day average girl. I have a lot of baggage, and you may have a psychotic ex boyfriend. What I’m saying is, we got some issues, like everyone else. I don’t know what I want, but I know I want you in the picture.”
“I want to be in the picture too Xavier…”
“Good, then I have one last gift for you…”
The scene opens back to Xavier one last time…
“I’m sorry, this is long. Call it an editor’s note or something, you didn’t get all the clips, and there is a lot more left unsaid. It all remains the same. I guess I just can’t believe this is the last time I’ll be doing something for NCW…”
He doesn’t hold it back anymore, the tears roll down his face.
“I love you guys, the crew, backstage help, the fans, all of you. You made this company worth every broken bone, bruised ribs, concussion. You’ve watched my kids grow up, watch me love and loss. You’ve been with me through the good times and the bad. When it boils down to it, you’re kind of like distant cousins. You’ve been there, cheering me on this entire time. And tonight, I have one last chance to run through those curtains and put on a show for you guys. Thank you for giving me this honor.”
Landon, Isabella, and James Cross step out from the side, moving over to their father.
“Why are you crying Daddy…are you thinking about Mommy.”
“Duh James, he’s with Zelda now, a real princess!”
“Hey…easy you two. No one will ever replace your mother. Ever.”
The children sit down, as Xavier, wiping tears away from his eyes, smiles.
“for a while, I forgot what is most important in my life. These three, right here. Thank you New Championship Wrestling for reminding me who I am, and what is important to me. Thank you for holding me up when I could barely stand on my own. Thank you for being my life these last five years. I wasn’t here for the beginning, but there is a sense of pride that I’ll be able to see the end. Because no matter how the book ends, the story will keep going on in our hearts. Thank you.”
The four Cross’s stand up, and begin chanting together

Georgia, Georgia
The whole day through (the whole day through)
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind (Georgia on my mind)
I said a Georgia, Georgia
A song of you (a song of you)
Comes as sweet and clear as moonlight through the pines
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in the peaceful dreams I see

Head down on a pillow of concrete
I won't rest in peace either way
And I won't be forgiven
And I will never give in
I'll give you something if you wanna believe
Won't ever belong
Just wanna be free
I won't rest in peace either way
And I won't be forgiven
And I will never give in
I'll give you something if you wanna believe
Won't ever belong

I'm a wanted man
Got blood on my hands
You keep tellin' me to back down
Won't do it
Livin' on the wrong side of a bullet
I'm a wanted man
Never stood a chance
Renegade from the day that I knew it
Livin' on the wrong side of a bullet

*******
Enough misadventures, enough misdirection.
Here I am, Xavier Cross. A few hours away from the most important match of my life.
It’s weird to be saying this, honestly, the last time I’ll be in front of you guys, filming my words, my actions everything. Thank you guys, for the last few years you’ve documented my life, letting me rewatch a lot of my family moments in high quality none the less. You’ve captured me at my highs, and my lows. I know I’ve gotten you in some messes, but you guys have been awesome…
But back to my goal.
Will Washington wants the Xavier Cross that wanted to murder him, that damn near killed both of us off that ladder, through the ring.
I walked away from that, you didn’t.
When push came to shove Will, I proved that there wasn’t anything I wouldn’t do. I would destroy my body to beat you. You want that at A Night to Remember.
No…
I won’t do it. The fact is, we both almost died that night, and I’m not going to risk your budding new family on that kind of extreme.
But I will come at you as Xavier Cross, a fighter who will win, at any cost, within the rules. This will be a clean match, and I will leave it all out there. Within reason.
I’m not the same man I was back then. I know it doesn’t take a baseball bat, and some nails to beat a man. I got two hands, two legs, and a good mind to do that now. I’ve mastered by body, I am a combat machine….
Okay, we both know I’m kind of a moron, and I will find some way to jump off something and do something that I shouldn’t do. That’s who I am.
I can tell you Will, that as my best friend, I will live in the moment. I will sweat, bleed, and cry tonight. I will throw punches until I can’t raise my arms, kicks until I can’t feel my legs, and I will keep coming at you until I eventually fall over from exhaustion. I will meet you as a warrior, but also as a friend.
You’ve beaten me. I’ve beaten you. You’ve earned my respect, I’ve earned your friendship. There isn’t anything left, but to settle a record.
Best two out of three.
Hands up. It’s the grand finale…
Here I am, Xavier Cross. A few hours away from the most important match of my life.

“Good, then I have one last gift for you…”
******
