::A storm is brewing outside in the night time sky. Dark, brooding clouds are slowly crawling their way over the city as the first few droplets of rain fall to the Earth. Across the streets people are hurriedly trying to get in doors to avoid the coming weather. And without any warning the first flash of fork lightening splits open the dark horizon in a brilliant display of blue and white. Thunder soon follows suit as the rumbling signals that the storm is here. Within minutes the rain is pelting down and the winds are blowing strongly.
Jack Manson is, thankfully, in-doors during this horrid time. Inside his home he is stood in front of a large window in his front room, watching the streams of water run down the glass pane, and the light show supplied by the lightening. He stands deadly still, hands held behind his back as thunder booms outside::
[red]JM: Awful weather. It came out of nowhere didn’t it.[/red]
[blue]T: Yeah, good job we’re inside huh?[/blue]
[red]JM: Indeed, Tony. However, I do love a good storm.[/red]
[blue]T: Why? Jack you’re messed up man, if you love storms so much why ain’t you out there now?[/blue]
[red]JM: Just because I like thunder storms Tony doesn’t mean I have to go outside and frolic in the rain every time one comes round now does it.[/red]
::Tony doesn’t say anything, he just keeps his eyes focussed on the television in front of him and gives Jack an inaudible grunt::
[red]JM: Just look at that. Mother nature’s finest. Did you know, lightening can sometimes be hotter than the surface of the sun?[/red]
::Another inaudible grunt. The volume of the TV increases slightly::
[blue]T: Ey yo, shouldn’t you be going over past matches of Awesome, you know, watch his tactics and how to avoid what happened last week?[/blue]
[red]JM: Pfft, last week. You know, what happened then doesn’t matter anymore. At first I was pissed, it’s a loss against the record at the end of the day, even if it was Davey who got pinned. But I’ve been in the business long enough to know things like that are going to happen. Especially with the way things are going are right now. Vertigo’s run in was expected, as too were the rest of them, including my comrades. The storm in nCw was brewing all week and it wasn’t going to be long before the clouds parted and the first bolt of lightening was struck.[/red]
[blue]T: Okay, but shouldn’t you be watching tapes anyway?[/blue]
[red]JM: I have no need to watch past matches of Steve. Time moves forward not backwards, there’s no doubt he has changed his style and attitude plenty of times over the years. Much like I have. And nothing beats hands on learning, and I’ve had enough experience in the ring with Awesome to know what to expect.[/red]
[blue]T: I see. Oh and by the way Jack, why did you request it to be a first blood match? Isn’t that scar enough for you?[/blue]
::Jack turns with a sadistic grin on his face and walks slowly towards the sofa, lightening cracks in the sky, silhouetting Manson as he walks closer::
[red]JM: I didn’t want to be restricted by the rules of the ring. I thrive for these matches, there is so much more at stake than my National title. Awesome made me bleed and scarred me for life, I want to give my buddy Steve a scar to remember me by also. A scar that will remind him every time he checks himself out in the mirror that he failed to take this title off me at Cross-Roads. And he will fail.[/red]
[blue]T: Hey, I’m not doubting you J, I just think a first blood match is a bit crazy on your part.[/blue]
::Manson sits down and continues to look out towards the window::
[red]JM: I know. People call me the Maniac, I can’t let down the nCw faithful. They have paid to see blood, and blood they shall get. The Maniac will rise again.[/red]
[blue]T: Yeah, you wanna rise quickly cos right now you’re on a losing streak. As your manager and trainer I want you to sort that out quickly, you’re tarnishing my name here.[/blue]
[red]JM: Oh am I now? Heh, yeah I am on a small losing streak. Come on, you know me well enough to know that these things don’t last long.[/red]
[blue]T: You should take a leaf out of Awesome’s book. Still undefeated here. Pretty good you gotta admit even if you do hate him.[/blue]
[red]JM: I don’t hate him. And yeah what he has achieved here so far is impressive. But any old douche can become the number one contender to a title. Don’t read too far into Awesome’s success here, it’ll soon change. Each time we’ve officially faced each other he’s had a partner with him. Someone to watch over him, make sure he keeps in line and isn’t out of his depth. He’s never faced me one on one. When that bell rings it’s just us two. No one will be there to help carry him through the match, or give him the opportunity to get an easy shot in on somebody.[/red]
[blue]T: It’s not his first singles match you know.[/blue]
[red]JM: I know that tard. But he’s never stepped in the ring only to find himself alone in there against me, the Maniac. He’s in for a shock if he thinks it’ll be an easy ride.[/red]
[blue]T: Well I think you’re being too optimistic with this one. I’ve been watching him, he’s a threat.[/blue]
[red]JM: Hey so much for not doubting me, and everybody is a threat one way or another, I’m not ignorant when it comes to competition. Everyone with eyes can see that Steve has potential to be one of the greats here. But he’s got a long way to go yet before he can stand proudly where I am. He’s a diamond in the rough all right, and with a bit of smoothing he will do well for himself, no question. But thinking that he can mess with the big boys is like trying to run before you can walk. His undefeated streak will end this Sunday.[/red]
::The storm seems to have passed, the rain is but a drizzle outside and the clouds have shifted on, revealing the full moon outside. Jack looks on::
[red]JM: The storm is passing. And the storm within nCw will pass soon enough. Everyone expects wars to go on for years. But this war within won’t. We’ve took our stand to rid the nCw of vermin like Helms. We might not get along with each other at times, but we respect one an other to work together to take out this cancer, to cure nCw.[/red]
::Tony stands up and adjusts his belt::
[blue]T: Well, with the storm passing I’m gonna deem it safe to drive home. I’ll see you at the gym in the morning, we’ve gotta lot of work to do before Sunday. I want you there bright and early.[/blue]
[red]JM: I know, I’ll be there.[/red]
[blue]T: See you tomorrow.[/blue]
[red]JM: Yeah, see ya.[/red]
::Tony leaves Jack alone in the room. Jack hears the front door open and then close as Tony exit’s the house. Now alone Manson contemplates this weeks match with Awesome::
[orange]Jack: So, you think you’re gonna do what you say?[/orange]
[red]JM: Of course. I don’t back down from a challenge, you of all people should know that.[/red]
[orange]Jack: Yes, but you don’t always win your challenges either do you.[/orange]
[red]JM: Nobody’s perfect.[/red]
[orange]Jack: You know what I think? I think you’ve lost it. You’ve took this stardom to your head. All the attention you’re getting has fuelled your ego to epic proportions. No wonder Trent Helms said your ego was bigger than his. You might not show it, but I know what you think. I’ve seen your thoughts. You’ve slacked off from training because you’ve never had to worry about something like this. You’ve stuck to your comfort zone by getting this title back, when you know you should be the one facing Spike for that World title, not his brother.[/orange]
[red]JM: Shut up, you don’t know what you’re talking about.[/red]
[orange]Jack: Oh really? Then why didn’t you take up Fox’s offer months ago to be put in the main event with Spike and Lance for the World title? He practically gave it to you on a plate and you turned it down. Why?[/orange]
[red]JM: Out of respect for Lance, we were partners, like brothers.[/red]
[orange]Jack: So what? Christian Kane is Spikes brother, yet he had the fire and guts to do something about it. Now look at him, a shot at the title. And you? You’re back at square one, fighting off rookies wanting to make it big in this business by beating you.[/orange]
::Having heard enough of this Jack stands up and walks to the window again. He looks outside as normality sweeps over the place. He rests his forehead against the cold glass::
[red]JM: And what the hell do you know? Every rookie that decided they wanted a piece of me has been dropped faster than a bag of s**te.[/red]
[orange]Jack: Because there is no competition! Are you scared to go off against the big dogs yourself? You’ve not headlined a pay per view show like some of the guys fighting this war.[/orange]
[red]JM: I didn’t ask to be targeted by Trent and his mob. They see me as a top contender here, and I am. Two time National champion, I’ve earned the respect of most people here, I am bringing in the crowds and they love me. I don’t care if I haven’t main evented a big show yet, it’s only a matter of time.[/red]
[orange]Jack: Not whilst you’re holding onto this belt kid. No National title defence ever became a main event match at the pay per views.[/orange]
[red]JM: I don’t care about the main event status. Regardless of what you say, I have not lost the edge. I’m stronger, faster, and meaner than ever. I won’t hesitate to put somebody out of commission if need be.[/red]
[orange]Jack: But you’re not. You said it yourself, opponents don’t know who they’re going to get in that ring till it’s too late, only lately it hasn’t been me they’ve faced, it’s been you. The calmer one. And now you’ve got yourself into a first blood match. Give me control, together we will get back on track, if we lose this title on Sunday then fine by me. It means you won’t have anything holding you back to take on Spike for his title.[/orange]
[red]JM: No way are you getting control. Not after last time, you could’ve killed Spikes sister.[/red]
[orange]Jack: AND HE COULD’VE KILLED YOUR FATHER! Or had you forgotten what he did to you and your family?[/orange]
[red]JM: Of course not! How the hell could I forget what he did, I think about it every day.[/red]
[orange]Jack: And if you’re not careful, it’ll happen again. Who’s gonna stop Steve Awesome from doing something like that? Or Trent Helms, or Dirtmurder? You need to sort yourself out before this Sunday, otherwise who knows, maybe Awesome will walk out there the new National champion.[/orange]
[red]JM: It’s never gonna happen, I’ve told you, I’m in complete control now. Nothing is gonna stop me from making Awesome bleed. I’m going to show him hell this Sunday. He will walk with the Devil.[/red]
[orange]Jack: Well We’ll just see about that won’t we.[/orange]
::The distant rumble of thunder can be heard miles away now as the storm moves further on. Jack’s mobile phone rings and it’s lit screen illuminates the darkness in Jacks room. He turns and walks over to pick it up::
[red]JM: Hello?[/red]
[green]DO: Yo, it’s me.[/green]
[red]JM: Oh, hey.[/red]
[green]DO: You alright? You sound a bit funny.[/green]
[red]JM: What? Ah… It’s nothing. Just going over this match on Sunday in my head. You know how it is.[/red]
[green]DO: Yeah, listen I wanna apologise for dropping the ball last week. We’ve given Trent the ego boost he needs to confirm those guys deserve our top spots. I promise you it won’t happen again.[/green]
[red]JM: There was nothing we could’ve one, don’t beat yourself up about it. Dirtmurder will get his comeuppance for costing us that match in due time. Meanwhile you just stay focussed on your job. [/red]
[green]DO: Cheers Jack, okay, I’ll catch you later.[/green]
[red]JM: Yeah, no bother. See ya.[/red]
::Jack hangs up and continues looking out of the window. He looks up at the night sky, the moon shining brightly above the clouds::
[red]JM: That’s it, everything is so clear now. I know what I have to do.[/red]
::Jack turns round and walks off as the scene fades to black::
