Faith in the Cards.
"Against us, it's always a loaded deck."
Where: A Garage, converted to a Card Room
Who: Trent
What: To prove a point.
For most people, a garage is a place to store something: vehicles, tools, Christmas decorations, or just junk. This garage, however, is decorated for poker night. Neon signs decorate the walls, the concrete floors are barren. In the center of this room is a card table covered in green felt. It looks like a smaller version of those featured in the World Series of Poker. In the dealer's chair is a man we all know as Trent Helms, who is wearing a Social Distortion T-Shirt with a pair of bag pants, a iron-on decal of the video game, Gears Of War that has nearly began to fall off. This man, Trent, shuffles a deck of cards casually; his exposed lips twist into a smirk upon the expected arrival.
I called you here to prove a point to Davey Ortega who just based upon name value alone is considered the heavy favorite in this two out of three, If you’re wondering where perhaps Awesome, Mercedes or any other member of the roster is, they were not called here, It’s going to be one on one against Ortega, I don’t need someone else around to prove I have fate in myself, I hardly have broken the surface of why Vertigo interfered in our match this past week, I didn’t give him a order to do so, if that’s what your wanting, nor did I give him the order, not to come down to ringside, I give each member of my group, a chance to make their own name, Vertigo just chooses to go down a violent path, but rest assure Davey, I have given the order for no interference in our two out of three falls encounter, with that being said, I would like to go on with my demonstration.
You are a gambling man, and seem to have a keen eye for this game called Texas Hold Em Poker, I played a few hands here and there, but haven’t dedicated much time to it, But you are a master at this game, as are you the favorite, so you have the presence of being the dealer in our match, so if you’re ready, I like to play a hand with our cameraman here.
Trent deals four cards, as if it were a game of Texas Hold'em. Two were face down in front of him; the other two are face down in front of the cameraman. The hand of the cameraman comes into view just long enough to peek at his cards: Bullets. To non-poker players, this means an ace of clubs and an ace of hearts. Trent looks down at his hold cards and aggressively pushes in all of his chips.
I'm all in. You know what that means: it's gut-check time says Trent
Without a seconds hesitation, the cameraman calls. His cards are flipped over, revealing the pocket aces with the confidence of a Phil Ivey or a Greg Raymer. Trent, equally confident, reveals his cards: Ace of Spades and Five of Clubs.
That's a very good pre-flop hand. The best possible pre-flop hand you can have and a favorite to win, you may say: This is you. When the hand is over, I see myself having the better one. I guess that all depends on how the cards fall though, doesn't it?
Trent sets a card aside and taps the table twice to signify the flop. He deals out three cards and flips them over, to reveal a flop that the cameraman got the most of: an Ace of diamonds, eight of clubs, and three of spades. Trent has garbage at this point, while the cameraman has flopped a set of Aces. With this, Trent continues.
If this was the first fall Ortega, you would have taken it, as the favorite already going in, this would put my back against the wall, where the match would become a do or die situation for me, knowing my strategy, I would of already fired everything I had to at you, while you braved the stormed and nearly survived without a scratch, and had somehow managed to turn the tide, to take a one fall to nothing lead. My best offense at this point would have been neutralized, but I wouldn’t have a chance in hell at this point, but in this game of poker, I’m going to need the running cards to pull this one out, shall we continue?
Trent sets a second card aside and signals for the turn. He deals the card face down and turns it up to reveal that Fourth Street is a four of clubs. No help for the cameraman, but "The Dealer" caught one of his running cards. He offers a pointed reply.
Somehow in a instant the tides can be turned in a match like this, all it takes is one misstep on your part for me to somehow capitalize and even the score up, by this time, your confidence in yourself will take a turn for the worse, you have proven time and time again, when it’s your back against the wall, you don’t have the best record, you crumple under the pressure when things begin to look bleak for yourself, but you’re not completely out, by this time, I would have been winded, my offense would be limited where I wouldn’t be as fast as I would be at the start of the match, the match becomes a game of luck almost at this time, both of us, nearly unable to stand…So how does this all end?
Trent sets another card aside, as it is time for the river card. The final card is dealt face down, only to be flipped up: revealing a two of hearts. The Cameraman ended the hand with three of a Kind with eight and four kickers. Trent, however, won the hand with a Five High Straight, also known as the Wheel.
.
When the game is on the line, I always manage to come thru in the clutch, and unlike Lawrence Tynes of the New York Giants football franchise, I don’t need two extra chances to do so, You were asking why did I go all in with what was considered a weak hand? Unlike you, even when things look doubtful, I am confident in the cards that I play, I know exactly how to get a job done even when things look grim from the beginning, as with the cause of our match this Sunday, I’m almost a 10:1 underdog here in our match, the immortal Ortega against the guy many people don’t feel quite is ready to climb to the top of the mountain right yet, everyone wants you to quiet me, Davey, everyone is pooling for you to pull one out in the ninth inning with men on the corners, but you usually fail more times then you succeed when in a situation like this, but if the cards we just played were are a taste of things to come, you would be preparing for the worst…the thing is…You are preparing for the worst.
You want to bring out that evil side of you, like it’s going to magically make a difference, I don’t need silly transformations and self revolutions, no offense to Reckless Jack, I bring everything I have to the surface, but the there is some irony involved here, can you guess what that is?
You know how the old saying goes, Bird of a feather flock together, so do pigs and swine, I can’t remember exactly what Jeremy Irons character in Die Hard with a vengeance said, but the same could be said of yourself and Manson, both of you are trying to dig down deep, under go some transformation that is supposed to make some radical change in you, shall I remind you, that you’re still only primates, you can change your trends, change your clothes and hairstyle, you can even change your sexual preference for all I care, your little scare tactics won’t work against us, we may not have all the experience in the world when it comes to nCw, but we both been around the block enough time to seen transformations like theses, It’s nothing new to us, It’s just a way for you to try to hold back weakness, making excuses how you the reason you were defeated was because you were holding back, Save the small talk, the mind games will not work on someone like me, so go ahead, go to that deep and dark corner of your mind Ortega, go ahead, Manson pull the Maniac out of whatever little closet you have been keeping him in. Are you’re doing is trying to give the fans some hope that you actually stand a chance in a match like this. You already have there support, a ridiculous and pathetic action like this is not needed, If you want to play that route, then I say jump motherf**ker, Jump over that line, go pull a Sethiroth or something for all I care, it doesn’t change anything, so go ahead, I dare you.
So cross that line Ortega, go into the realm on insanity, I could easily take some of my hard earned 13 million dollars and pay the camera man to give me a tape of your recording, where you cross that line into insanity…I hope you do, the moment that line ends up being crossed…I will be more then happy to call the men in white coats, early Sunday morning, showing them the tape of you clearly losing your mind, and having you locked up and labeled a danger to yourself and others.
So go ahead cross that line, walk across it, turn around and spit on the side of being a genius, I may not have a super high I.Q such as you, but I am smart enough to know how to win a encounter, with or without a battle. Play your trump card. Ortega, it makes no difference to me, it just saves you from having to lost two falls to me this weekend, but will cause you to lose that public image you speak so highly of, The millionaire tycoon bachelor who owns and runs his own consider, the man who could appear on the cover of GQ or some other magazine if he choose to do so, instead he decides to try to out trump me, as if this was a game of spades. It’s not going to work, just like your self delusions of you trying to close everyone eyes to the situation, your group can’t even get there stories straight. You and Manson talk a big game how you’re not giving up your spots, Ryan offers his opinion on the matter saying he was willing to give his spot, talking about how we are not talented enough to take it. Ryan you are one to talk, there is a big difference between talent and toughness and preparation in a situation like this, look at Christian Kane…He is about as talented as a box of moon rocks in a pie baking contest, but he has toughness, while on the other hand, I’m the most talented being on the roster, but I’m untested in other areas, experience in battles like Barbed Wire Cage Matches and Dragon’s Den matches, But this isn’t about you Ryan…No, I’m not about to get distracted and look focus on what is ahead of me.
That being you Ortega, as you continue to prepare to cross the line of insanity, This isn’t the Hollywood movies that I help produce, it won’t make a bit of difference in a match like this, one of the key reasons to why I have had success against people of your caliber is because I study everything there is the study, your movements, when you attempt to go for big time moves, or when you are exposed and open to a attack, I study theses things, maybe your unpredictably into the insane side of your brain with throw a curveball at me, and throw me off my game, but there are other answers to that.
This Sunday, whether if it Genius Ortega, Barbarian at the Gate Ortega, or the criminally insane Ortega, you will find out first hand what it’s like to feel the most deviating finisher in this company, you will know what it’s like to once again, be on the outside looking in through the looking glass, You will fall to the close encounter of the six hundred and thirty kind, and my name will continue to grow beyond your own, because I am out of this world, I am better then you, and at crossroads.
I will leave you….Broken Into Nothing.
