~*~*~Last time that we saw Lance Ryan we saw a very relaxed, very subdued version of the maniac that has become the first two time champion in nCw history. Lance was relaxing with his family and taking in a camping trip when he took time out of his family life to speak on Dave Holland, their match and all things Age of the Revolution. Not to mention we saw what appears to have become Lance in his new element. Sitting with his children, Jamie and Zell and enjoying time with them away from the ring, away from the stress of everyday stardom and away from the aggravations of being the nCw World Champion. For the first time in his long and illustrious career Lance is ready to walk away from the wrestlers that he has always called family. He is ready to take on the role of being a father and he is ready to walk away from the business that he refers to as his first love. Dave Holland does indeed promise to be a tough match for the World Champion and on top of that Dave Holland presents a man that represents all that Lance Ryan is against in the world. Many are saying that Lance is not preparing for this match with Dave Holland, that he is simply preparing to lie down for the man so that he can walk away from a complete career. However those that are close to the champion know that in fact this is Lance’s way of preparing now. Lance has indeed evolved into a different man of late, and that man that he has become prepares for what is arguably the biggest match of his career by getting away from the grind. From forgetting the past, forgetting the future and living only in the present. A present that brings nothing but happiness, cheer and love in his life.~*~*~[/i]
Matthew: I have been up and down the road of time with Lance. He is first and foremost my brother, but he is also a client. I have been by his side during his greatest victories and his greatest defeats. I have seen him prepare for matches by training in ways that most men would never dare, and I have seen him prepare for matches by taking vows of silence. Never however have I seen him happier than he is with his life right now. Never have I seen him so content to be away from the business and with people whose lives are not solely about this business. But, nobody can convince me that Lance is not preparing for this match. Lance Ryan may be ready to take the boots off for the last time in his career but he is not willing to lose that title and give credit for retiring him to a man that does not deserve those accolades. Lance is mentally, physically and emotionally prepared for a night that could lead to his end in wrestling. He is not prepared to drop the ball however. There will be no fumbles, there will be no interception. The only way that the ball is going home with anyone else is over Lance’s drained, defeated and exhausted body.
~*~*~It is no wonder that there are doubters in the nCw locker room that this truly may in fact be the end of Lance Ryan’s career. Many believe that this is another ploy by Age of the Revolution, simply a plan to get under the skin of Dave Holland, a plan to make the spotlight even bigger for Dave Holland in his first title match in nCw. This line of thinking however is incorrect. Lance Ryan is genuine when he says that he will retire from this business when he drops the world title. He has reached a point in life where there is really nothing more that he can accomplish and nothing more that he can do. He has won all of the gold that there is to win. He has defeated all of the top wrestlers that there are to defeat. Lance Ryan has truly done it all in this business and it is time to end his era and retire while he is still on top of his game. Many others are skeptical that this “retirement” is real. Lance has walked away from the business twice before. Both times he did eventually return to lace up the boots once more. Many are wondering if this will be more of a sabbatical than a retirement. This line of thinking could possibly be correct, only time will tell, but the feelings coming from those that know Lance Ryan well point to this truly being the end of a truly amazing wrestling career.~*~*~[/i]
Allan Cooper: nCw wrestlers and fans do not know me as well as people that have followed the career of Lance Ryan in great length. I was the man that found Lance Ryan fighting for fun in high school. Beating people up for the pure love of throwing fists and leaving people lying in his wake. I took that unrefined ability and helped him become who he is today. Lance Ryan is quite honestly one of the greatest wrestlers in the history of professional wrestling. He has won championships everywhere that he has gone. He has wrestled in legendary matches against legendary wrestlers and he has done all that he could possibly do with the gifts and the talents that the good lord gave him. I was deeply saddened when Lance called me and told me that soon his career would be coming to an end. Both times that he walked away from the business before he told me that he would likely be back. This phone call was different. Lance told me that whether it be at a Night to Remember or whether it be another night…his career is indeed coming to an end. Lance Ryan has indeed been a true friend, a great tag team partner and a great competitor for his entire career. Through all incarnations one thing has always been true, Lance Ryan has come out on top way more than he has been defeated. For the sake of wrestling fans everywhere, I truly hope that Dave Holland doesn’t have quite enough to take the world title from Lance this coming Sunday because I honestly don’t want to see Lance’s final match yet.
~*~*~Lance Ryan and Dave Holland have a deep rooted history both inside and outside of the ring. Outside of the ring Dave Holland was chosen by his peers to represent nCw in an inter-company tournament over Lance Ryan, a man that was already the first World Champion in company history and the first Hall of famer. Inside the ring Dave Holland and Lance Ryan have fought alongside one another and against one another on more than ne occasion now in nCw. They have been tag team partners, they have taken on one another with the aide of tag team partners, and they have gone one on one. This Sunday however will bring on something new for Dave Holland.[/i]
Romeo: Over my career I had the opportunity to be in the ring with Lance Ryan many times. We fought as a tag team, we fought as friends and we fought as bitter enemies. However, if there is one thing that I can say about Lance Ryan it is this. No matter how many times you set foot in the ring with Lance as friend or foe. You have never been in the ring with him until you are going man to man for any organizations World Title. When the lights go off and the games begin, Lance is at the top of his game and he is thinking of nothing but holding onto that title no matter what it takes. I hope that Dave Holland is prepared to fight a man that now has two things pushing him to have the greatest match of his career. The fact that the World title is again on the line, and the fact that his career is on the line. I have known Lance Ryan for many years now, and regardless of the fact that he is ready to walk away from the industry, he will never wrestle a passable match with this much on the line. He knows that the man that retires him from this industry will be able to make a name off of that fact. Thus, he will only give that honor to a man that is truly deserving. That man may in fact be Dave Holland, but Dave had better be prepared to prove that fact in spades this Sunday.
~*~*~Family. Something that Lance has associated with wrestlers and industry people for his entire career. Finally at his age, Lance has discovered that family is so much more. He has two children that are in need of a father figure. He has owned up to his responsibilities outside of the ring and is ready to fulfill those responsibilities as well. Many industry insiders have stated over the years that nothing would ever make Lance walk away from wrestling. It has always been in his blood. Well something now has. Family.[/i]
Jamie Ryan: My entire life, all I have wanted is to know my father. He left me before I was even born. Lance knew that he did not have the time, energy or maturity to look after me. He also knew that a child could not grow up in the atmosphere that he and my mother would have provided. So he made the decision that he had to. Albeit a hard one. He decided to follow his passion of wrestling and give my mother all of the money that she could ever need to raise me to be a respectable human being. That I have. Now, so many years later, here we are. Father and son reunited. Both of us grown up now, but so much has changed. We are a family now, he Zell and I. I would never ask him to walk away from this industry, it is a decision that he has made on his own. He has told me that he needs to make up for the sins that he committed when he was young and dumb. He needs to be a man now, a father. Dave Holland, the man that you will set foot in the ring with on Sunday is no less of a wrestler than he has ever been. In fact, I think that you will be a part of the best match he has ever wrestled. Lance Ryan is now a determined man. A man determined to prove to the world that he is still the best there is. A man determined to show the world that when he retires, he is indeed retiring at the peak of his career. Few men can say that in life. My father will indeed be one of them. You seem determined to become World Champion, so I hope that your determination can match his. The best man will indeed win on Sunday and will carry the nCw Championship.
~*~*~The scene opens and we see footage of Lance Ryan fighting Davey Ortega in the finals of the Road to the Gold tournament.~*~*~
Lance Ryan begins doing everything he can to escape. He pushes off the mat and begins dragging himself and Ortega towards the ropes, he reaches out and just manages to grab a hold of the bottom rope. The ref starts telling Ortega to release the hold, which he does, but after holding it in for more damage. Ortega backs away as Lance Ryan rolls over on his back propped up against the ropes, Ortega waits for Ryan to get to his feet and kicks him in the stomach as soon as he does, he then drags him to the corner where, after climbing and sitting on the top rope, he places his head under his arm looking for a tornado DDT. Lance Ryan fights the move with several punches to Ortega's sides and then climbs the ropes himself, standing on the middle rope Ryan and Ortega begin to trade punches until Ryan blocks a left by Ortega, he takes Ortega's head under his arm after the block lifts him off the ropes and jumps backwards hitting the Train Spike off the ropes, immediately after landing he rolls over and with what little he has left throws an arm over Ortega's chest the crowd and the ref begin counting 1…2….3 WINNER LANCE RYAN!!!} Hardy: Lance Ryan has done it, he's battled through the Road to the Gold and has just been crowned the new nCw World Champion!
Lance Ryan is laying on his back as the referee holds up his arm and places the nCw title across his chest. The fans meanwhile are on their feet cheering both competitors
Eric Hardy: I can't believe what has happened here tonight all three nCw title belts were won. Dr.
Road to the Gold fades away after a video as "Poem" by Taproot begins blaring with the final shot being the Lance Ryan laying on the mat with the title across his chest.
~*~*~The scene now zooms out from the screen that was playing the highlights from RtG and we see Lance sitting beside his son and his brother.~*~*~[/i]
Lance Ryan: That was the day that I burst onto the scene for real here in nCw. I shocked the world by defeating Davey Ortega in the finals of that tournament and subsequently sent two careers spiraling in different directions. I became the first champion and first hall of famer in this company’s history. Davey went on to become known as an international choke artist. You see, there are parallels here Dave. You and I are about to have a huge match on a huge stage, and it is a bit of a role reversal for me. This time coming in people know everything that I am capable of. They know everything that I can do and everything that I have done, and you, there are questions regarding you.
Dave, you speak of loss of respect for me since I joined the Revolution, you have basically been saying that I have verbal diarrhea since joining with Reckless Jack. You spoke about errors that I have made in reference to you, but in reality you need to recognize that I have never given a damn about you. When I speak with Reckless Jack or when I speak with Spike Kane, you are not the topic of conversation. Your past is of absolutely no interest in me. I don’t care that your mother was killed. Se probably shouldn’t have been sleeping with a hit-man then. I don’t care that you got beaten up as a child…you probably deserved every beating that you got. You see Dave, memory is selective and there are two sides to every story. I imagine that there were reasons that those beatings came so deliberate for you, but like I just said I do not care. The past is ir-relevant this Sunday. The future is ir-relevant this Sunday. All that is relevant is the here and the now. Lance Ryan and Dave Holland are recognized as the two biggest wrestlers in this company and we will tear one another apart in order to walk away with the prize that I currently own. Let’s face it, I know that you will be fighting for the other prize as well. The great honor of retiring me from this business.
Dave Holland, I am going to take down the Age of the Revolution banter and be real with you for the first time. I saw your promo, and you know what, perhaps my head has been up in the clouds ever since Reckless Jack took me under his wing. Recently I told you that I guarantee that there will be no outside interference in our match this Sunday, and now I am going to take it a step farther. I am going to talk to you like the man that we both know you are. Focus on this week Dave, focus on the me that you saw two days ago, and focus on the me that you are seeing right now. The family man Dave, the man that may be wrestling his last professional wrestling match this Sunday against you. Let’s cut the crap. I know that you don’t like me. You never have. You also know that I don’t personally like you. I never have. We have been on the same side of many a great war, and we have been on opposite sides of many a great war, but let’s be honest, there is no war like the war that takes place between two men that are fighting for their company’s top prize. Nothing like the seventh game of the Stanley cup finals or the seventh game of the world series, or the super bowl…nothing like two men fighting for the nCw World Heavyweight Title.
When we leave my religious and world feelings aside you are left with a man that has overcome much Dave, a man that has been to hell and back as well. My history may not be as scarred as yours, and yes, at the end of the day I do agree that your past is scarred, but nonetheless there are an awful lot of similarities between us. We both grew up with no semblance of family. We both grew up on the mean streets, fighting for everything that we ever needed, much less wanted. We both made it through those tough times in our own ways and the reality is that we are both successes in spite of the past. Dave, I don’t want to be your friend, but there is a reality here that speaks volumes. I may not like that you are the head of a corporation and you may not like that I am so against capitalism. But Sunday Night, at a Night to Remember, in front of millions of fans, something special is going to happen. Two men are going to wrestle each other that by all rights and purposes should be dead. Two men that have taken all that society has to offer and have kept on ticking will go one on one. Two phoenixes’ that were able to rise from the ashes of a desolate society will collide in mid-flight. Dave, there are millions of metaphors and truly with all spite aside there are none that are fitting for the war that will be waged over my title and my career this Sunday.
~*~*~Lance rises to his feet and starts to pace back and forth in the room. Jamie looks up at his father but there is an extended period of silence as Lance seems to be in dismay. Finally Lance breaks the silence and asks Jamie to leave the room. Jamie looks confused but gets up and walks out a door to the side. Lance stops pacing and he sits down on the couch looking directly into the camera.~*~*~[/i]
Lance: Dave, I need to level with you. A lot of what you said really hit home with me. This is something that I really shouldn’t say because I do have a deep respect for Reckless Jack and what his motives are, but I think you are right. I believe that the wool has in large part been pulled over my eyes and I have been led to believe a lot of things that are obviously not true. After hearing your heart felt message I am going to do something that you said I would not do, apologize. Apologize and admit to you and the entire world that I was wrong about you. The more that I think about you and your life, the more that I come to know, the more I realize that you are right. You would be better suited to lead this Revolution than Reckless Jack. Jack is somewhere right now looking to kill a man. To leave a man dead to his rights for something that he did ages ago. Reckless Jack may in fact commit homicide, and completely bring an end to a life. That should not be something that we stand for…in fact I am coming to question everything that Reckless Jack is preaching…everything that Reckless Jack states…if we truly stand for a change in world view and a change in what people follow…should we be preaching that nothing saves…or should we be preaching that there is another way?
~*~*~Lance shakes his head as if telling himself to get back on topic.~*~*~[/i]
Lance: Regardless. Like I have said before all of this Dave, I do respect you. I realize that this is all going to seem very out of left field to you, and you will likely see this as a ploy, much like my retirement…but I have been very wrong in the past about you…my hatred for you has been almost programmed and whether it is because of my plan to dissent from the ranks or because common sense has leaked in…I see you for what you are now…a true competitor…a true man…a true revolutionary…and a man that very well may end my illustrious career. Dave Holland, if you put an end to my career and take my title…I will be flattered because both accolades could not go to a better man.
~*~*~Such has been the life of Lance Ryan both inside and outside of the ring. A search for truth, a constant conflict, and a mixture of dangerous deceit and sobering truth. This time the camera fades after a stirring moment of sobering truth for Dave Holland from the nCw Champion.~*~*~[/i]
