You've got this..
The bet was made, the bet was called. Even if he folds now you've picked up a decent size pot and a good sized chip lead. The question is now, what to do after the turn peals off? Go for the kill and push it all in, flat call his raise (assuming he fires a second shot), or blanche at the river and check after him if he does, and hope he makes something out of this hand he'd be willing to risk it all with. So far you can't solidly put him on a hand. If he's betting on an ace, which is unlikely, you have him beat. King - Queen, you also have beat. Unless it's their suited Spades, which is unlikely. Even then he'd be betting his stack on a ten, and only the ten of spades would actually beat you. You start to grow anxious when the dealer taps his hand twice on the table, burns a card, and then rolls over the Turn.
9-H
The nine of hearts. He's virtually drawing dead from now on. One out left out of 42 cards in the deck. 4.2%, unless a miracle is coming you've accomplshed a dream, but you're not quite there yet. You know you've won the hand, the question would now be how to get the most money out of him. He starts counting chips in front of him and you almost leap for joy. The nine was a blank for you, but he's banking on it to win this hand. He leads out with about half of his remaining stack. You can't say call fast enough. You figure if you don't re-raise him now, after the river he'll push it all, and you can end it on this hand. Because him folding now would be a bad thing wouldn't it?
(We open with nCw Interview Specialist Chad Lights in an elevator. The number above is getting close to triple digits as the elevator keeps rising into the skyline. It stops at seventy three, Chad and the cameraman exiting into a grandoise apartment. We appear to be in a living room with a couch that extends at least fifteen feet, made of leather no less, planted in front of an outrageously expensive Flat screen TV perched on a wall of glass. Chad and the camera are just staring ahead when a voice comes from off camera to the right.)
Oh, good. You're here. I'll page him in.(Button beeping.)Sir, Chad Lights is here right on schedule.
CL: Thank you for your time.
(The camera and Chad turn to the right to see Alexis sitting in a chair behind a desk that's supposed to be some kind of reception area. Her attention is focused on the computer screen to her left. While the cameramans attention seems to be centered more on the V in her powder blue silk blouse. The slow zoom begins as he tries to give himself and the audience a better view of her clea...)
I know she's pretty and all that, but you don't have to stare.
(Whip pan back to the left out of embarassment. "Jack" emerges from a side room, looking quite comfortable and at home in white board shorts, a white Florida Marlins Jersey and his trademark dolphins hat. Yes, even at 1-15 they still have fans.)
Come on in and have a seat. I'm sure you'd like to get started.. and I'm sure my assitant would like you to stop oggling her rack.
(Chad and the cameraman offer half hearted excuses as they take seats on the couch. "Jack" finds the armchair andd has himself his own seat.)
Something to drink guys?
No, thank you. This is a nice apartment by the way. You must be a talented wrestler to pay for all this.
Wrestling is only one of my professions. In between wrestling gigs I act in movies. That's where the dough comes from.
You're serious? What's some of the stuff you've done?
Well, being a wrestler, I have the ability to do hollywood type fights without hurting anybody. Wrestling may be real, but those action sequences are all scripted. So I generally play villains. Like, for example, I was in Live Free or Die Hard.
Ah, good movie. What was your role in that?
Henchmen number three.
(Suddenly less than impressed.)I see.
It was right after he shoots that guy in the foot at the powerplant. He runs up the stairs and I ambush him. We scuffle but eventually he shoves me over the railing and I get knocked out on the stairs.
You mean die like an expendable henchmen?
(Shrug)Same difference. It didn't make the movie cut because of time, but I think it's on the special features of the Unrated Special Edition Directors Cut DVD.
I see. I hope that goes well for you. Back on wrestling, you have a match this week at A Night to Remember to determine a new X Division contender, in only your second match in nCw. You must have really impressed some front office people to get in this.
My record speaks for itself. I've performed my ass off for everywhere I've ever been, and when word like that gets around the phone calls from other promotions start pouring in. I couldn't help it. From the first night I saw Collision I knew I wanted to get back into this business, that all my over crap would have to wait. So here I am. Am I impressive? We'll just have to see. I know that on any given day I can keep up with the best of them, and I've won my fair share of matches, so if anyone thinks that setting a foot in the ring against me will be easy. They're beyond wrong.. Superwrong.
Your opponents this week are no slouches themselves. Xavier Williams is a great talent and a member of the Age of the Revolution. Shaun Wilson is a former X Division champion. And Reckoning just returned from a long leave of absence but has shown that the rust hasn't gotten to him at all. Are you worried you might not win this match?
You're right, I might not win this match. But I'm not worried about it. I'm not so young anymore to believe that I will win every single match I participate in. But I can win every one of them, just like I can win this match. The point is you have to think you will win or you won't. And I think I will, it's just that simple. I've watched some old episodes of Collision. Xavier Williams is impressive, that's why the AotR chose him. Shaun Wilson may be an arrogant prick, but you can't win the X title by luck alone, so he has to have some talent. As for Reckoning, I see potential, but that's about it. The question is, do they have what it takes to win this match when I'm on my A game. The answer to that is no.
Many believe that Angel will be X division champion by the time NtR goes off the air this Sunday. Should you win, and him as well, how do you plan on taking on again a man who has already defeated you in an nCw ring?
Once a new match starts, what happened in the last one becomes immaterial. You can beat someone a thousand times and you still have a chance to be defeated each and every one of those times. If it comes down to it, I'll face Angel again. And win or lose, it will be a hell of a match, like it was the last time.
Your current opponents have remained silent this week so far, why do you think that is?
I hope it's because they are busy training, but I doubt it. Xavier might be a man of very few words, which makes him dangerous. I respect that. I may sit here and talk your ear off, but that doesn't make me any less dangerous, so facing him will be a priveledge. Shaun Wilson on the other hand, sounds to me like a man in love with the sound of his own voice. So, to not hear from him, says he either is experiencing something tragic, or is just outright fearful of what's going to happen if he runs his mouth and pisses the wrong person off, then embarasses himself. I see things like that all the time. You have a ton of things to say to the jobbers, but as soon as someone better than you comes along, nothing. Reckoning is probably too concerned with bar hopping, picking up sluts and trying to act hood than he is with his actual career. I've seen plenty of those too. It's not long before they realize they need talent to back up the hype or it all turns to ****. One way or another.
You sound pretty sure of that.
To be honest, Xavier seems like the only one who should actually be here. Shaun gets in by default because he was once in that podium, he's entitled for another shot because he had the first one. It's like a reward that keeps on giving.. do something great once and you'll get repetative chances at it. Reckoning is just here to give him a bone after being away so long. Kind of like.. "here you go puppy. Take this and get off my back for a while." It seems I got in here on reputation alone, which isn't fair I know, but I understand that. So I'm going to take this chance to prove why I should be here, and two of these other schlubs shouldn't.
Ok, thank you for your time. Good luck on Sunday.
My pleasure gentlemen.
(Chad and the cameraman exit back into the elevator, but not before the camera tries to get one last peek at that fine ass clea..)
Point that somewhere else please.
Sorry...
(Fade out.)
