Man I didn't really like it..... the beginning took forever... the action was lacking..... I liked the whole story and feel of the movie, but I was expecting/wanting it to be so much more. Basically I had built it up so much in my head it couldn't meet that.

I was expecting/wanting it to be so much more. Basically I had built it up so much in my head it couldn't meet that. That's exactly the problem in my opinion. The marketing was too good. Everyone was clueless going into the film what the monster would be like and then when you see it you think 'oh... is that it?' which is a shame because as far as godzilla-esque creatures go it's pretty good. I liked the styleof the film, made me almost feel like I was with them the whole way. I even started thinking things like 'ooh, metal pipe, nice weapon to have that.' and furthermore almost started shouting at the guy when he left the axe behind. YOU NEVER LEAVE YOUR WEAPON!!! ahem But yeah, as a film I liked it, I know some people didn't so fair enough but I did. As a project as a whole... the marketing overhyped it, big time.

The marketing was a bit much. But ignoring all that, ignoring the hype. I thought the movie was fantastic. Like Dave was saying I felt like I was there. When their on the roof trying to climb across, I was all like "I'm not going." Then I remembered I was sitting in a comfy chair eating pop corn. Overall this may have been the best movie I've seen in the past 12 months. And I did go see all the "blockbuster" like Transformers and Spiderman. I thought this movie topped it. I just think some people are bein too critical. They need to watch the movie as it is, not as they'd like it too be.

Wasn't as good as I thought it would have been.
The monster sucked balls IMO, it could have been a lot better design-wise.
I hated the ending.
SPOILERS IN WHITE, HIGHLIGHT TO READ.
[white]I hated the fact they survived the helicopter crash, then failed to notice the gigantic creature behind Hud when they climbed out the crash, like it just tip-toe'd up to them through the trees.[/white]
So yeah, not a bad film, could of been a lot better.

I left disappointed as hell, and not just because it was an over-hyped film.
Whilst I respect the fact they tried something new, and let's be honest..pulled it off. The movie both bored me and pissed me off.
A) The ****ingtwenty minutes (at least) of opening 'big-brother-esque' CRAP. B) How much **** people seem to survive through - REALISM IS THE REASON YOUR FILM IS DIFFERENT C) Hmm we've been walking down this tunnel for twenty minutes..ohh, I wonder if the camera has night vision. It does? Oh crap..I wonder if enemies will appear THE MOMENT I SWITCH IT ON. D) He left the axe...WHAT TWAT LEAVES THE AXE!?
The ending pissed me off beyond believe, it was like a ****ing Bollywood movie...
"I love you" "I love you too"
ACK WHAT BOLLOCKS!?
Although...at the very end when it shows the couple on the train...if you look on the right hand of the screen, just keep watching it..you see something fall out of the sky and make a huge splash near the statue of liberty.

I couldn't agree more. Especially the opening 20 minutes... it was so annoying. I know it was meant to set things up between the man and the chick he's trying to save..... but seriously, they couldn't have found a better way to do it?

The thing falling out of the sky was a Satelite, possibly signaling the thing was sleeping in the bay and was woking up by some stupid satelite falling on it's head.

I liked the movie, over all. It could have been better, but so many movies could be too.
And, BTW, when I was being chased by a huge tip-toeing monster last week I actually dropped my axe! So, it happens!

But I was not being chased by small monsters. I would've noticed them. I turned my night vision on much earlier. Heh.
...much better than Blair Witch, though.

It was indeed better than Blair Witch and I enjoyed it enough. It was realistic (well as realistic as a movie about some huge ass monster can be) I definitely would not say that this was even close to a great movie though. I will recommend based on the fact that its very different, but it doesnt make the list of my favorite movies of all time.

I think you hit the nail on the head there Lance. It's different and that's it's appeal.

Well after the credits there's a weird transmission that plays.
Played backwards it says "It's still alive" and I'm sure there's one that says "Help us". Either that or it's the same transmission.
There's talk of a sequel happening and it could take place during the first attack but from another persons perspective.

Probably Jason's perspective then! May be recorded on his celly? Um he wasn't recording it on his cell phone at all so how is that possible lol. There's a scene on the bridge when Hud turns round and see's another dude recording him using a camera, it's rumoured that the sequel will be from a totally new character, possibly the guy on the bridge. I hope the sequel answers some questions about the monster and whether that thing dropping in the water at the end was it, or something that fell from space and disturbed the monster instead.

I think it will maybe be the mother since that monster was just a baby.
